Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel in Deutschland.
Public means of transport in Germany.
Wir sagen öffentlich.
Das means public.
Und Verkehrsmittel.
Der Verkehr ist der Traffic und das Mittel ist der Means.
Zum Beispiel dieser Bus.
Das ist ein öffentliches Verkehrsmittel.
Und wir sind hier gerade an einer Bushaltestelle.
Seht ihr das H da?
Das H steht für Haltestelle.
A place of stopping or holding.
Und das da ist das Häuschen von der Bushaltestelle.
Ein kleines Häuschen.
Like a little house.
Heute, in diesem Video, zeige ich euch alle möglichen öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel in Deutschland.
Aber dafür gehen wir nach Hause.
Los geht's!
Als erstes haben wir den Zug.
Der Zug.
And what is the plural?
Was ist der Plural?
Die Züge.
Und kennst du ein anderes Wort für Zug?
Do you know another word for Zug?
Die Bahn.
And die Bahn is actually also the name of the main railway company or train company in Germany.
And we have different types of trains in Germany.
First of all, we have the ICE.
It's the Intercity Express.
Das ist der ganz schnelle Zug von der Deutschen Bahn, of the German railway station.
Dann haben wir den RE.
Das ist der Regionalexpress für die Regionen.
Dann haben wir die RB.
Das ist die Regionalbahn.
Und dann haben wir noch den IC und den EC.
Was bedeutet das?
What do they stand for?
It's the Intercity train and the Eurocity train.
Dann haben wir noch die S-Bahn.
The S-Bahn.
What does it stand for?
Do you know?
It's not Straßenbahn.
So it's not the street train, no.
The S-Bahn stands for Schnellbahn oder Stadtbahn.
And this usually goes within cities or sometimes it also goes to other cities.
Die S-Bahn.
Very important.
Und dann haben wir die Straßenbahn.
That's actually the tram.
These are the ones that go within the streets.
With the cars that you sometimes see, they have these little things up there which lead them.
Dann haben wir noch die U-Bahn, die Untergrundbahn.
Sie wird auch manchmal Metro genannt.
It is also called Metro oder U-Bahn.
Und als letztes haben wir noch die Busse.
Das habt ihr in der Einleitung gesehen.
You saw that in the introduction.
Normally they have this sign of H, which is für Haltestelle.
Und manchmal ist da auch ein kleines Haus.
Sometimes they have this little house.
Und da drinnen hängt dann auch der Fahrplan.
So it shows the schedule of the bus.
Und nur die Busse des Nahverkehrs zählen zu den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln.
So only the buses which are in that area, Nahverkehr, what does it mean?
It means close by traffic.
They are part of the public transport.
Es gibt auch Busse, wie zum Beispiel der Flixbus, der zwischen den Städten fährt.
There are, for example, buses like the Flixbus, which go between cities, but they don't count
as the public transport.
Also das sind alle wichtigen Wörter.
Let's do a little quiz.
Wir machen ein kleines Quiz.
What do you call the Metro in Germany?
Sometimes we say Metro, but what else?
Die U-Bahn.
What is the tram called in German?
The tram is called die Straßenbahn.
What is the train called, which goes normally within the city or sometimes also to other cities?
So it goes within the suburbs usually.
What is this one called?
Die S-Bahn.
And what are the trains called that go further away?
What do you call them?
So there are different ones.
Yeah, first of all, we say die Bahn oder der Zug in general.
And then we have ICE, RE, RB, und so weiter.
All right, so das waren die wichtigsten Wörter.
These were the most important words, but there is also a new thing they have in Germany,
and that's called the on-demand shuttle.
This is really called like that in German.
There is no German word, I think.
And these are new for small towns, für Kleinstädte.
And these ones are really nice actually because they're quite cheap.
Die sind sehr billig.
Die kosten manchmal nur 1 bis 3 Euro, 1 to 3 Euros or something.
And they take you basically if there is no train, no S-Bahn, nothing in that city or
in that town, then you have these little on-demand shuttles.
You can look it up wherever you are.
If you are in a Kleinstadt, a small town, then they might have this, and it might be
really useful for you.
Maybe look it up for your town if they have this.
This is a new thing.
Let's see if it stays around or not, but it's very useful, and I think it's a great invention.
Das ist eine tolle Erfindung.
Die Erfindung is the invention.
I hope you enjoyed this video, and if you come to Germany, you have a little bit of
an overview of all the words in the public transport.
Again, how do you say the public means of transport in German?
What I said in the introduction.
Die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel.
It's a mouthful, I know.
Öffentlich means public.
What is the opposite of öffentlich?
It's privat.
Und der Verkehr is the traffic, und Mittel is the means of transport.
Das ist das Video von heute.
Ich hoffe, du hast viel gelernt.
I hope you learned a lot.
Let me know in the comments if you have more questions or also if I forgot something.
Maybe I forgot something.
Let me know in the comments.
Danke schön und tschüss.
