Getting a $5 Filipino Haircut At SM MALL OF ASIA, Manila Philippines!

We've found you a driver. We're getting a grab over to SM Malls of Asia. It's the fourth largest mall in the world and there's 4.1 million square metres. Let me just check. 4.62 million square feet. Wow. Very big. And some more facts for you. It opened in 2006. It consists of four buildings interconnected by walkways and it features a 20-seater tram that takes shoppers around to different places. Oh wow. Good fact. We tried to pick a few bits up at the mall the other day here and failed miserably in buying any of them because no shopper seemed to sell what we wanted to get. So hopefully in the fourth largest mall in the world we'll find everything we're looking for today and that includes some trainers. If you watch the channel you know we love shopping malls in the Philippines and this is one we've been wanting to come to. This is the one we've been wanting to come to the most recently. We seem to be on a bit of a shopping mall tour right now because we've been in cities a lot lately. So when we uploaded the video the other day when we were in Ilo SM City. Is this us? A load of you were saying, guys, if you think that's big, check out SM Mall of Asia. This is exactly what we're doing. This is crazy. Thank you. As we were driving in you see the mall and it is so, so vast and then you actually have to drive right round past the mall because there's dedicated drop off areas, parking areas and stuff. We were impressed with the last mall. This is like ridiculous, isn't it? This is the biggest mall in the Philippines. It's huge. It's the biggest I have ever seen. I'm excited to get in here. We're actually making it happen list today as well because they're doing some work at the hotel but we'll be with them later. It's just us today. We're going to grab a coffee. I'm going to see if there's anything other than Starbucks. Mike's not here to guide me with the coffee choices. I'm sure there'll be something else than Starbucks. We also have no idea where we are. We're looking for a few things. We need to ask Mike where that shoe shop is. That's somewhere near here. We need to find a shoe shop, a camera shop, kind of have a look around but honestly from the outside this place is massive. I've no idea how we're actually going to navigate. They're all set up here for Chinese New Year. There's massive lanterns hanging down and there's big decorations and stuff outside. It's really cool. There's loads of cars down here. I haven't seen a map yet so I don't know where anything is. We need a toilet as well and we need coffee. I don't know, should we just walk in this direction and hope for the best? I think that's the only thing we can do really. It kind of seems really big but I haven't seen any big groups of people yet. Everyone's kind of spread out and it seems really open and I guess when we went in Cebu, SM Seaside was the same so SM City was really busy and loads of people in one space. Here everyone's kind of spread out more but I'm just going to go to the toilet so I'm going to stop recording quickly. We're also currently looking for some headphones. We're editing the vlogs with the tiny little Apple headphones at the moment. So Lucy's trying out some better ones. One cool thing about this mall is everything you need like technology wise is in the cyber zone, all in one place. It's crazy. There's a low-profile camera bag we're looking for. We haven't been successful in finding it yet. It's quite new isn't it? Yeah. And I don't know, there's been some shops that have it in other malls here but not the version we want. My headphones squish my ears when I edit so I get like an ear pain when I edit. We also need a camera house. That's what we need. That was bad the other day. We went there the other day and they didn't have anything. Not in here though. This is the biggest mall in the world Lucy. No it's not. Number four. First purchase done. Extremely exciting. And I bought a pop socket. Jordan's had one on his phone for two years and I've been like no I don't want one. It's changed your life. But now at least I can stand things up and watch stuff on my phone. The way to know that you're in a big mall when you Google a coffee shop on Google Maps and there's directions inside of the mall on Google. Crazy. Isn't that mad that normally it's just like oh you've arrived because it's in that complex but it's so big that it's got it's own navigation on Google. Coffee is very needed this morning. We've all been on the go for nearly a month now. The month is coming up and every day at the moment we're getting slightly more tired I would say. I'm alright. Lucy's alright but Lucy's the youngest. I'm feeling a little bit tired. Hi. People are waving at us. I have no idea where we are. We were looking for coffee. Now we're on a bridge but this is quite cool. You can kind of see we're outside the mall but still kind of part of it I think. But there's a road behind and you can kind of start to see the vastness of this place all the way down there and all the way down there. We're looking for a place called Pie Face. No idea where it is. Even the guard didn't know. This is really tricky. We're completely lost. We grabbed a coffee which we could just about do but we had to go to Starbucks because we couldn't find the coffee shop that I wanted to try. Now I think we're going back inside. That's not a mall is it? Yeah. Oh. Ok. I think so I don't know. We're going to try and find some clothes shops. Plan B. I think we've just walked into a cinema. I have a feeling this is just a cinema. Maybe we can get through I don't know. It's so confusing. How would you ever find anything in here? How do you know where you're going if you live here? Seriously like I feel like I could never learn this. I think we can get out of here. Should we watch a quick film? Or we could just go to the cinema and watch a film. Yeah I'm up for that. Ok let's do it. Let's go this way. So after walking around for a couple of hours now and pretty much getting lost like 3 times I think we both might agree that this mall, that we prefer the slightly smaller malls. It's huge, it's got everything, whatever you're looking for you can find here other than the new Lowepro 450 AW2 camera bag. So we've decided to stop for some lunch. We've come into French bakery or something and we've ordered some chicken and rice. I was just saying that this mall may be too big for us. Ok so if we were just wandering around and we didn't have anything to buy it would be fine because we could have, like it doesn't matter, just like float around and see what we see sort of thing. But because we know we need to pick up a few bits it's quite stressful because you're like ok we've found that, now we need to find this, where do we find it? And there's no maps anywhere. We downloaded this app which doesn't really help. It's just too big. So we didn't expect this to happen today, however I've been getting so fed up with my hair recently, check this out, that I have just put a poll on Instagram, we're going to check the results, asking you guys if you think I should get a haircut. Oh that is mean. Can I tell you what I voted? Look at this, did you vote yes? Yeah. 89% said yes. So the thing with your hair is that you've been growing it for, let me just, you've been growing it for like over a year now and you said to me earlier that even if it gets long you don't want to tie it up, so why, what have you been wasting your time on? The thing is I thought it would go nice and long like my sister's boyfriend Mike, be all cool, however it's just going to go out and it's going to look weird so I think it might be time. Today might be the day. I haven't had a haircut since July 2018, fun fact. Really? Yeah. So we are on the way to the haircut place, the poll has come in guys, you all want me to get a haircut so who would I be to go against your word? Some really nice looking places to eat here actually, we kind of, we were hungry so we chose the first place we went to but look at this, this looks, this looks really nice, next time. So how are you feeling, are you nervous? Feeling nervous, haven't had a haircut since July, can't remember what you do, what you ask for, what you say, what goes on, what happens after it. So we've come into somewhere now, next to SM and it's like a really fancy mall, there's like loads of nice shops here and I think it's a good choice for a haircut for George, being the first one back, it's not like it's a trim is it, this is like a full on head change. This is a, this is a mission. It is a mission but it's here. Let's go in. Oh it's nice and busy so hopefully this means it's good. So it's been a long time, the hair is incredibly long. We're finally getting a Philippines haircut and this is less than £5 as well so this is, this is incredible. We showed a photo of what my hair used to look like. Let me get it up, hang on. What we're going for. So this is George a few months ago. He's almost done, there is so much hair on the floor. All of this is George's but it's looking pretty good. And the job is done. I'm not going to show you though until we're back at the hotel because I need to like wash it out, style it, I need to go buy some hair product to get used to actually doing my hair again. It's so weird seeing the side of your head in a hat. I know. It is weird. I feel a lot lighter. So that was 300 pesos which is £4 I think. £4. All we did was show him a photo and he has done an identical job, an identical thing for the photo we showed. Thank you. Thanks a lot. Thank you. Okay, just got back to the Manila Marriott Hotel where we're staying. Quick gym workout and then had a quick shower and we're dressed up now to go for dinner downstairs. George, the noise you're hearing in the background is a hair dryer. George has just washed his new fresh cut for the first time and I'm about to reveal it to you. And it looks lovely. I'm very impressed. It looks really nice, really suits him. And it's weird, it's like how George looked like a year ago but a bit different. It's weird but I like it a lot. Can I show you them yet? He can't hear me. Can I show you them? Oh, not yet guys, sorry. All right, George, you ready? I'm ready. I'm just adding the final touch. Can I open the door? Who's that handsome chap? Wow. Look at that. Absolutely insane. Looks so good actually. Turn around, do a full turn. So we've got a nice long bit here that goes back, head down a bit, head forward. Lovely, neat and sharp fade here. Oh, that looks so good. Nice. Perfect for dinner at the Marriott tonight which is where we're heading in a second. Don't want to overdo the spray. Nice that you wore a nice formal shirt. Yeah, wearing my new nice formal t-shirt. I do like it though. Let me read it. Never doubt yourself guys. Very true. And I mean that. Like when I got this haircut, there were people who didn't want me to get the haircut. But you got the haircut because you don't doubt yourself. Exactly. I need to brush my teeth. Smells good already. So we're eating at the Marriott's restaurant tonight and wow. Hello, hello. We just had a gym session. We were like right, eating back on track. We're going to be healthy. We're going to be fit. And now I see like hello, hello and chocolate fondue and marshmallows. Oh, look at this. Hi. George. This looks incredible. We have a little surprise for you. Do you? We asked them to bring in a guitar. Oh, perfect. Perfect. Now I've had a haircut, they let me in. Yeah. So the dinner tonight is buffet style and we were here for breakfast this morning and it was so much selection. I can already see some seafood, Indian food, pasta, pizza. I fancy an Indian. I fancy an Indian as well. She was a lovely girl. Met her years ago. Got some delicious looking vegetables in a curry and we all said we need to eat more vegetables, right?
