Today we take my mum to a special surprise birthday treat: strawberry buffet at a 5 star hotel!! It was a litera strawberry-feast, where they had more than 30 different strawberry desserts including strawberry flambe, strawberry fountain, strawberry tiramisu and strawberry pizza! I mean, I’m not very proud of English cuisine in general, but when it comes to strawberries and cake, we know what we’re doing. So, how would Korean STRAWBERRY BUFFET compare?? Watch till the end to find out! ;)

How you doing? Yeah, good. I just realised, it's going to be my mum's birthday when she's in Korea with us.
That's mental. We need to do something special.
Miyokko.
Miyokko. Yes. Yeah, we definitely should go eat Miyokko.
But I've been trying to find basically something to eat that I think she would 100% like.
Right, we need to, it's her birthday, we need to give her a proper treat.
I found that hotels in Korea do strawberry buffets.
What?
Strawberry literal buffets.
What are you talking about?
That's the thing. Literally everything is made with strawberries.
Look at this. This is the Intercontinental.
Look at that. That's a flipping strawberry tower.
Strawberry desserts galore.
Oh my gosh.
It's perfect. Birthday cake. That's basically birthday cake.
I don't even know what half of these things are but they all have strawberries in.
And she loves strawberries.
It's perfect.
Where's that?
Intercontinental.
That's expensive.
Dude, it's worth it.
I remember you told me at the beginning of this trip, I asked you what's your favorite type of food to eat.
You said your favorite food was cake.
That's embarrassing isn't it?
But I also know one of your other favorite foods are strawberries.
Oh yes.
They started doing in Korean hotels a strawberry buffet.
Oh wow.
Where everything is made with strawberries.
Mum, this is the strawberry buffet.
Oh my gosh.
My goodness.
Literally everything is made with strawberries.
Wow, yes. Strawberry buffet.
Have you ever seen anything like this?
No.
It's like art. Strawberry art.
It is. It's kind of artistic.
There was just strawberry everything.
Overindulgence of strawberry drinks and strawberry cakes and strawberry desserts.
Oh and a fountain. The strawberry fountain.
They have a strawberry fountain.
So you may notice that the strawberries are quite big.
They're enormous.
They're super juicy.
It's like an apple.
Strawberries.
Strawberry tiramisu.
I love tiramisu.
You're an avid.
This is so fun.
I felt a bit like a child because usually when you're the mum, if you do something like that, it's usually me arranging it for somebody else.
It's never happened to me before, I don't think.
Look at the strawberries coming out of the jugs and stuff.
It's just endless. Look at that.
Feels like we shouldn't actually eat it, doesn't it?
Oh no, no. We definitely should eat it.
Okay.
I feel like we've come to an alternate planet where there's only one kind of fruit.
Yeah.
It's the strawberry planet.
Mum's gone two plates.
Double up on the plates.
Yeah, mum two plates now.
Whoa.
That's insane.
That looks amazing.
Whoa, what is this?
Is that flambé?
Oh my gosh.
Thank you.
Wow.
I wanted to try them all.
I really want, and we took a fair selection back to the table, didn't we?
We had the table completely covered with strawberry everything.
I feel like we may have overdone it a little bit.
It's such a great idea though.
It is.
It's going to take off, couldn't it?
It smells so good.
How come we don't have this in England?
Happy birthday.
Oh, thank you.
Cheers.
Thank you so much.
You're very welcome.
We need to stop for a second and just acknowledge how crazy this is.
We've been selective.
It doesn't look like it.
It looks like we literally just have one of everything.
Okay then.
Can we eat?
Yeah, all right.
I want to eat.
Although I don't want to eat some things.
Look at this.
So cute.
I know.
It's so pretty.
So, so pretty.
I'm going to start with strawberry pizza.
Because it feels like first course.
You can eat your strawberry pizza with a knife and fork.
Well, I don't want to get messed up.
So English.
I'm going to go in with my hand.
Oh, wow.
That is good.
I need a bit of strawberry with my strawberry pizza.
Here we go.
How is it?
Yeah?
It works, doesn't it?
Yeah.
Right, this is tiramisu.
Let's try it.
Holy moly.
Strawberry tiramisu.
Have you ever had that before?
No.
It's really good.
You're a big tiramisu fan.
It's lighter.
It's light.
We have to eat that.
Oh, the flambé.
Okay, let's have a flambé.
Okay, let's go for it.
Strawberry flambé.
Oh my gosh.
Look at that.
So, so soft and tender, right?
It melts.
What?
That is incredible.
I feel like so many years you have made birthdays really special for me and my brother.
And it's nice to be able to do something that I know you're really going to enjoy.
Well, this is pretty special, isn't it?
Strawberry buffet.
Keep digging in.
Keep digging.
All right, I feel like we should try just a plain strawberry to see how that compares
to English strawberries.
All right.
Okay.
Korean winter strawberries, mum.
Winter strawberries.
Oh my.
It's just as good, if not better, than an English strawberry because it's big and you can just
eat it.
We often bash English food on the channel.
You do, actually.
Sometimes I get annoyed at that.
Why?
Because you made me a lot of English food growing up.
You know, there's certain things you can bash about English food.
You know, if you have good English food.
Funnily enough, I feel like two types of food that England do really well are good summery
fruits, strawberries, and cake.
Cake.
Yes.
Victoria sponge, carrot cake, lemon drizzle cake.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
With that in mind, there's a piece of cake over there.
Literally endless.
A big piece of cake.
That is massive.
Should we just dig in from here?
Yeah, why not?
It's good.
I'm glad.
Yeah, I can have a strawberry with mine.
Oh, look at that.
Oh, that means I have to have another piece.
Shocker.
Oh, so good.
So far, how do you think it compares, though, here?
Strawberry and cake.
England, they do well.
The word that comes to mind is exquisite.
It's like luxury.
It feels a bit more luxury, doesn't it?
I feel like someone's injected strawberry juice into my bloodstream.
I'm craving something spicy now.
You're craving something spicy?
I'm so Korean.
So, in Korea, there's a word for when you eat too much stuff,
which is a bit too sweet or buttery.
It's nukkihae.
And why don't we have a word for that?
Because it's not a thing.
Literally, yeah.
Would you be offended if I have something spicy right now?
Oh, no, you can do it, but I'm not.
Is there something spicy about that?
Yeah, there is.
Oh, okay.
Did you bring tteokbokki, Gabie?
Yeah.
It's red.
It's strawberry.
But people watching this right now,
they're going to be like,
oh my gosh, I want to eat something really spicy just watching this.
So I'm eating it for them.
Are you?
Oh, right.
It's a selfless act.
This is so good.
This is so incredible.
We have proper plowed our way through that.
That cake is good, isn't it?
I think I could eat all of that cake,
like an entire cake of it.
I want to try a bit of the tteokbokki now, Gabie.
Oh, do you?
I want to see if it works.
In Korean, if you have something really nukkihae,
and then afterwards you have some refreshing soup,
they say, I feel refreshed.
No, I just want tea and water to be refreshed.
Just a cup of tea would do it.
Would it work to dip a strawberry in it?
No.
That's literally the worst idea, Ollie.
All right, mum.
We've got some more tea.
Oh, good.
And we will stop the camera so we can take our time now.
I feel like we're going to need to eat this slowly.
Are we going to eat more?
Slow tea, yeah.
You've got to finish this off, mum.
Oh, OK.
We've got Ollie and we've got the crew to help us out.
Absolutely.
It's their turn.
Guys, dig in, dig in, dig in.
Please, please look.
Come and eat some.
I can see why this gets booked out.
It's such a treat.
If you want to treat somebody for a special occasion.
We didn't plan this, mum.
We didn't plan this.
I feel like my cheeks are hurting from smiling too much.
I know.
That's a good sign, mum.
That's a good sign.
Wow.
Thank you.
That's a rose champagne, which basically looks like strawberries again.
Thank you.
You must have heard us talking so much.
It's your birthday.
Happy birthday to you.
Thank you.
Thank you, everybody.
OK, ready?
Look how many strawberries there are.
Just in case we haven't had enough strawberries.
Thank you so much.
Shall we eat it now?
I had a bit of a teary moment then.
Oh, mum, you're crying.
I had a teary moment.
I love you.
I'm so glad we could bring you here for your birthday as well.
It's so special.
You happy?
Happy tears.
And I want to cry.
Aww.
You're going to make me cry.
I'm going to cry too.
OK, cheers.
Happy birthday.
Cheers.
Thank you.
That has never happened to me in my life before.
When someone's gone, you can buy whatever you like and I'm paying.
You're going past the bags too quick.
What?
Oh, goodness.
Well, she was like, how about this, Pauline, and how about this?
It was like having your own personal shopper, like you see in films.
We have one last surprise.
Another surprise.
Final surprise for your birthday.
I've never been to an outside ice rink before,
and that was sort of a bucket list thing for me.
Oh, look at this.
You can see all of Seoul out behind us.
This is so cool.
Oh, thank you.
