Christmas in July crafts. Adorable snowman and ornament ideas using trash and stash.
Remember the joy of crafting by the fireplace when the scent of cinnamon filled the air
and every detail felt made with love. These heartwarming Christmas creations bring that
same cozy magic back into your home. Let's turn simple materials into timeless
treasures that whisper stories of holidays past. Today, we're creating an adorable vintage-style
snowman crafted from felt, twine, and a little peat pot for the perfect rustic Christmas charm.
Begin with two styrofoam balls in different sizes.
Cover each with a layer of coffee-dyed felt, secured tightly with glue and string.
Stack them using a toothpick. Paint a small peat pot black, coat with glue, and sprinkle cinnamon
for a rustic finish. Add arms from twigs, a carrot-shaped nose from a whittled stick,
and peppercorns for eyes and buttons. Finish with a handmade felt hat, a scarf, and a candy cane.
ornament with a nostalgic vintage feel. Use an empty ribbon roll as the base. Cover the sides
and ends with scrapbook paper. Add thin clay ropes to the rims and metallic embroidery floss
in a crisscross pattern. Craft small holly leaves and drumsticks from air-dry clay.
Découpage a vintage image to each side, then apply crackle finish and antique paste.
Add greenery, beads, and a hanger. Finish with ribbon and gold detailing for a nostalgic touch.
Let's create a romantic Christmas ornament using resin pieces,
vintage-inspired images, and a soft touch of crackle for timeless beauty.
Start with a wooden ornament blank. Add resin embellishments to the top and bottom,
and create a raised oval in the center using hot glue. Paint the entire piece,
then dry brush with metallics. Découpage a small vintage image in the center and apply a crackle
glaze. Highlight with glitter, gold rub and buff, and antiquing wax. Add a ribbon hanger,
wooden spool into a sweet little angel, complete with lace, tinsel, and old-world charm. For this
project, start with a wooden thread spool. Paint it white and let it dry, then glue a small wooden
bead on top for the head. Use gold pipe cleaner to create a halo and arms. Wrap soft vintage lace
or tea-dyed muslin around the spool for the angel's dress. Add a bit of tinsel or ribbon
miniature Christmas tree using layered pages from an old book and a rustic wooden base.
Begin with several pages from an old book. Cut them into graduated triangles and layer
them vertically onto a small wooden dowel. Glue each layer in place, creating the shape of a tree.
Insert the dowel into a wood slice base. Add a star cut out from glitter cardstock to the top,
and brush the tree with diluted white paint for a frosted effect.
We're crafting a delicate garland made from tea-stained paper stars, perfect for adding
vintage warmth to any Christmas corner. Cut several stars out of thick cardstock and soak
them in tea or coffee to give a vintage patina. Once dry, distress the edges with ink and punch
small holes near the top of the star. Use a little bit of white paint to paint the edges of the
each star. Thread them together with twine, adding tiny bells or wooden beads between each star.
This garland looks beautiful across mantles, mirrors, or shelves.
In this project, we'll repurpose mason jar lids into miniature wreath ornaments wrapped in cozy
fabric and rustic embellishments. Use the ring from a mason jar lid as your base. Wrap it with
torn strips of homespun fabric or ribbon. Add sprigs of faux greenery, tiny pine cones,
or cinnamon sticks. Hot glue a bow and a loop of twine at the top for hanging.
You can also personalize them with miniature tags or a stamped word like JOY or NOEL.
Let's create a cozy garland made from hand-cut felt mittens,
each one detailed with sweet buttons and twine for a homespun touch.
Cut out pairs of small mitten shapes from felt in soft colors like CREAM, PALE BLUE,
or DUSTY ROSE. Stitch or glue the edges, leaving the top open. Add vintage buttons, embroidery,
or tiny charms for detail. String the mittens along a jute twine, alternating colors and styles.
You can even tuck in greenery or candy canes inside each mitten.
This next idea turns humble cinnamon sticks into a tiny tree full of rustic holiday charm,
perfect for tabletops or windowsills. Stack cinnamon sticks from long to short,
arranging them vertically in a Christmas tree shape. Glue them together using a central stick
as a spine. Add dried orange slices or star anise as ornaments. Tie a ribbon bow at the top and
mount the tree on a wood slice or inside a shallow vintage tart tin for stability.
We'll make elegant cone ornaments using aged sheet music, trimmed with lace and filled with
festive greenery. Roll old sheet music pages into cone shapes and glue the seams. Fill the cones
with a little bit of shredded paper, faux berries, or a sprig of pine. Add lace or tinsel around the
rim and finish with a loop of twine for hanging. Optional, decoupage a vintage Christmas image
rusty bells, a lovely piece that jingles with holiday spirit. Thread wooden beads of various
sizes onto a thick jute cord. Alternate with rusty bells and tie knots to keep them spaced.
Add a loop at the top for hanging and a bow at the bottom with plaid or ticking stripe ribbon.
Hang this on doorknobs for a cozy, welcoming jingle every time the door opens.
