What They DON'T Tell You About Travelling ASIA!

[Music] have a seat hey you're welcome hey guys welcome to another day where you are in the world Christmas best time in the year we've been travelling Asia for four months and before we went traveling you read stuff online what to expect what not to expect what you're gonna learn who you're gonna meet all that kind of stuff a lot of the stuff online like you're gonna love this you're gonna love that do that yeah it's all it shows the highlight we are going to talk about some highlights today but it's also some bit that you want to know before you go yeah we're gonna tell you all the stuff that they don't tell you before you go traveling and this isn't like a negative video we're not just here because actually there's very few negatives to traveling it's the best thing we look where we are it's the best thing I've ever done we absolutely love it it's a lifestyle that we dreamed of when we made happen if you're in the position now or do I go do I not go go if you can make it happen do it it will be the best decision you ever make in your life guarantee definitely in this video we wanted to talk about some of the things that don't get mentioned as much some of the realities and what it's like day-to-day behind all the Instagram photos and the villas in Bali to give you a real kind of understanding of what what traveling lifestyle actually looks like I'm gonna start by showing you a few things on myself why basically I don't think we've been to one place yeah well I haven't been eaten alive by mosquitoes everything with it yes let me just do a quick tour just to give you an example I think if you don't see this or not but how many of I got my legs right now about seven I've got them all down this leg all down here my bomb I thought my hips my arm I'm absolutely covered in the itching because I yeah no one told us about mosquito bites before we went they kind of do they say like taking their take insect repellent and stuff but honestly you get bitten every day they're really really itchy but don't worry we've got some remedies for you out as you mentioned try and stop these we haven't actually used Burnett we have a news and it's been in my facts about their because if you me than that they'll provide one if you'll some of that air conditioning we've got air conditioning usually going to be ok or doesn't know it's actually cook it because in weird isn't it the next come with black cook and I'm not screwing everything in a dive into the wall of a hotel and secondly John will spray with fifty percent DEET everyone was like get it was going to see it work perfect in key setting its thing thirty-six ml varnish off and fourthly doesn't actually Viking you wherever you are in the world there's one here right now wherever you're in the world they'll be a UFO repellent or an insect repellent it's kind of adapted to where you are exactly so we've been through it a few different ones and well we've seen work so much better getting the local ones I'm not going to get happy in any way which probably pay we've actually beam as well so we've started in China Cambodia Vietnam Hong Kong Philippines Taiwan Taipei back to the Philippines and the Korean party we've done quite a nice amount of Asia there's also still yeah we stretched a nice surface later and we like to think we have some idea what to expect without that so another thing we thought we had to have all sorted before they're traveling was a plan a set structure flights hotels bookings bus routes I know so we used to be like the most wealth Lou seems to be the most organized person but honestly once you out here you realize that you really don't need to plan much at all in the BART you can't be too strict you know I planned okay firstly you'll get disappointed if you say I want to see this into this and something happens the weather's bad you can't do something flights canceled you wake up later there's things that happened whether we've got fairies councils and the things that happened that can stop the time happening so Thailand good thirty days were planned out we had things yeah in goodness I hope as I get that but we had everything if you wanted to do although it is lovely and we went round each day and picked up the things on the left it did feel a bit like a school trip a bit yeah a bit structured up there like TripAdvisor says you must be these top ten things in Bangkok so we need to go through the top ten things in Bangkok yeah being flexible and discoveries of that I think if you're if you're too caught up in like the score in sports you might miss out unlike more local thing and just don't put the pressure on yourself we probably could have saved ourselves hours of stress before we came away we would sweet sit there every night like planning each little thing what bus times we needed what ferry we needed which company to put with all this kind of stuff it's good to have a rough idea obviously of course it helps you out once you get there yeah but take it from us you don't need to plan that much at all everything is so easy when you arrive places you literally get a bus into somewhere and there's little foods people selling tickets to the next place or ferry tickets or pause hotels you can rock up to a place and look into a hostel or hotel it's honestly so so easy in Southeast Asia especially Thailand don't put the pressure okay for me that took away a little bit at the enjoyment of Thailand because I actually loved it but the whole time I was like oh that's we were meant to be on that same weekend yeah we didn't manage to do this exactly it kind of gets you be good why can't I do that but if you're more flexible I feel like the month after smile and really are probably more so as you go along is become more sex yeah we've relaxed mark and we've enjoyed I felt more we had really don't focus on what you haven't seen or what you missed focus on what you did see what you did experience like yeah trap the whole point of traveling is enjoyment and seeing me places and I hope you know what you know Court would play exactly don't know the alternative yeah this is kind of a given but just know that you're gonna meet the remaining week yeah both locals and other tourists the thing people who have traveled tell people who haven't traveled there are you going to be certainly amazing people you'll meet friends polite and when but when you're still at home and you haven't done that you kind of nod me longer oh yeah yeah sure and you don't picture those PDM you don't picture those relationships being made but honestly it does happen depending on what type of traveling you're doing I think we probably I think solo travelers probably do this better because they're on their own and it's easy for them to stay in shared accommodation or just chat people in bars or on the beaches and stuff of that because they're on their own guys you've got thanks sorry about the noise and then doing a play in the background oh yeah we got like mountain running fountain in the background and that with a towel it didn't work if we've met loads of people will chat with chatting people on buses on planes in airport everywhere we've met other couples definitely for yourself in situations where you can meet people I go on definitely although it's nice sometimes doing things when you're only getting of a pair than going from exploring do put some tours and do books and pasta to do but do book things where you're going to be around other people that everything because they smell great Freddie exactly is one of the best things because when you're home living your kind of day-to-day life you're not always meeting new people depending on your lifestyle quarters obviously and always sharings to counsel these people because we've met loads of people that we'd still now keep in contact with on Instagram and we've gone over there they've gone over there we can watch their stories yeah we might want to go there one day because something on their story looked cool and vice versa and sharing messages sharing tips so those relationships kind of carry on so we've said it in videos before the only negative to what we do kind of full time travel we've made this our lifestyle is missing family and missing home not so much missing home a natural place although we do like because we're in amazing locations so that is kind of not as bad but we obviously miss our family time yeah definitely so if you're thinking that you're gonna miss your family and that's putting you off going traveling don't let it put you off still go because honestly with like FaceTime Skype all that kind of stuff sky perhaps you describe Avenue Skype syntax well yeah you've got FaceTime you've got whatsapp video you've got touch with your family there they will if they're anything like ours they will love seeing all the amazing places we're going to they'll be just as excited as you we've probably talked a bit more now than when we were at home though so we live together at home before we came out here and weekly our family like couple times a week and every day waking up at night texting apparently hey funny a big bit of advice that we were given and perceiving before we came out when you guys so this is your hometown this is your family's life you're in there you go away you're having this amazing time you're in this bubble of traveling of things this place it you come back and everything is still the same nothing's changed it's family still there they're still going about their lives and it kind of is carries on so like don't feel like you're not no you're not missing out because I'll see that you mixed up something for being that yeah but if you're carries on and like when I was told that before uh-huh but now I don't you get what they mean it we know that they're still there we're gonna be able to carry on normal life it'll all be there for you when you get back you will drink a lot of coffee even I feel like you're gonna drink so much I dread to think honestly how many gone I can't be Vietnamese cooking coffee was that so much that coffee follow me yeah coffee seems to be a huge thing in every country we've been to somehow luckily for us we love it but honestly it's a it's the cheapest drink in some countries Thailand iced coffee was everywhere and too cheap it was as cheap as water beers also really lot of sugar in it there is but it's tasty there are also some really cool coffee shops in so many different countries Vietnam especially had so many coffee shops opening Vietnam cooling egg coffee there's a video on our channel gotta go back have a look see re action on that palette you have date yeah you have to try that if you're going to be an ARCA Barney under coffee shop like it's a real culture thing even the Philippines go to coffee shops in the evening with their friends to socialize their like pubs in England of the video the other day when we look back on a video he's built before he came out and it wasn't until we thought we've got a feeling a little bit trimmer I like we feel like a little bit away yeah the shorts are a little bit looser oh my god oh you're chubby we've never closed it up like overweight we weren't that high anyway but we've never class ourselves is like not flaming the core we probably thought we were okay yeah probably it's like we were cool yeah we're like my face has tanked yeah actually paja yeah so I'm drawing one now yeah exactly so a lot of people told us you'll gain weight in Asia all the lovely food ice cream of the night the noodles like the cars the pancakes with banana and Nutella and all that kind of stuff don't get me wrong we've had our fair share of that like we don't believe in like just not eating carbs we don't believe if we like the look of something we're gonna have it yeah probably like once a week we'll have a really nice dessert or something our view on that kind of thing is like if we like the look of something we want to try it we'll eat it because we don't want it no easier and then regret not trying that really nice is that all ever it was not like at home we all wake up your breakfast you have lunch at work and then you have dinner when you get home here it's like you're moving around and each day is so different that often you only have like two meals a day well that's pretty cool that's just for us that's how its kind of worked out for us and I think also the food is fresh like most of the food you have is nice fresh vegetables meats is just it's just a nice stuff no processed stuff no additives all that comes up it just vegetables meat rice noodles cooked freshly in front of you yeah so it's kind of healthy and we're also moving around so much nothing is that the and fish it's often called the same day for eating it because it's not like a home in supermarkets we've got like chicken that's already cut up with no bone in package sanity's market rapido between buyer and it's cured a few days before that four legs so here it's which we like the market there aren't like fridges that market it's just what they make that out it's cool the day for often that morning we were at a fish market before country castle Vietnam I'm going to text to them that grew there about seven eight in the morning and they said it'd be more about four or five o'clock this morning there was no we're in a fish market and they didn't we couldn't smell a single quick all the food you will love like what they do tell you is that the food's good and that's true before we came traveling we read a ton of things watch loads of YouTube videos on what to pack for a year of traveling what to pack for traveling Southeast Asia we filled our inversion that video film it's the wrong it's not wrong but there's a load of videos Pat this Pat this make sure you've got everything that he needs but honestly we probably been carrying around way too much stuff for the last four months which is made of bags really heavy we haven't used a lot of what we bought and you can probably get away with taking a bit less I'm not gonna feed it it's pretty quite special cover day you probably get on its cry but nothing and buy it okay if you want it say like if you had a huge media battle that quickly you could do that because honestly like I thought we were out here we're not gonna be able to find shampoo anywhere thanks Alan your best friend would be 711 which is like a Tesco supermarket place Ranger if there's not 711 they'll have they'll have their alternative Family Mart here in Bali the transport is so easy as well and something I was worried about favor example is hi game island island and there was nothing that we were lying but as soon as you get somewhere like hotels help you people that I've already done it like swing or face you can think someone hi I'm mixing here very nice how do I get that so they'll direct you that makeup but you remember women in the 7-eleven in Thailand in Chiang Mai and the lady behind the tool company for get up the ticket supply yeah this is what we love about Asia this is up in so many times we were in a bakery like buying a little snack we're just making conversation whilst we were paying for our greater where it was and rooms like all the way up to tomorrow this we're thinking of going here so I'll have you've got a driver yet oh my brother light is a tourist driver like I'll give you his number what's your what's absolutely shared what's up text him and then you know it's just so you don't get that in the UK you couldn't just go into Tesco and arrange a transport to another town or something like can you put me a train ticket for London yeah a website will give you which is really really good first is a website from one to go Asia anyway we'll put it here in one scene I will find it we'll put the link here this is the travel website for Asia is so cheap trains ferries buses flights and it shows it might be that to get from A to B get you could take a train very fast and it tells you the prices first-class second-class train yeah and you can put one ticket for multiple journey so if you want to go from here to here but you need to get a bus a train and then a ferry you can book it always one ticket so it makes your life so much easier so there's so much information on how much money right that's right it's long ago have it ring its brain Caesar I don't think I can do that there's so much information online how much money you should dream traveling it varies so much but what we can tell you is that lights internally in Asia can be cheap if you're smart so if you're worried that you've saved up chunk money my route looks like I'm gonna need ten fifteen twenty flight so don't worry too much because we I think the cheapest flight we've ever booked was like 14 pounds we are be able to do a whole video about cheeks like really now so in that video we give a ton of tips on how to actually book the TV's bytes but don't panic too much about flights if you can be flexible with dates and smart about how you book it you can even save time money and you don't have to spend that much money on fly some amazing some of the Bangkok temples were really cool yeah we've done unloaded of Korra stuff don't get me wrong you do want to do it because often well there's a reason metal report but they're amazing people will see them but make sure you in the middle of the story Scott and a few things that a bit off the beaten track a little bit less common today amass yourself as low-key experience with for example in the Philippines I went from a good port barton and that's not really on many list well yeah it's much quieter place they don't have electricity from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the Wi-Fi was rubbish it went down in a whole village for like the four days that we were there and it was really good thing it's like we had this really immersive cultural experience where we felt like we were the only tourists there was a house with a lot of agenda me who probably only saw five or six other tourist areas although course we took a bike to a multiple and it was like where all the local kids were and they were playing and it was a snit it was this nice because it felt like we were living their lives a bit instead of just as Tory along with the tourists and a Philippines in general is less of a traveler destination I think than Thailand I think oh I think they enjoy their yeah we love to connect been watching the telly we know we love the Philippines and it's mainly I think for that reason it feels less trodden it feels like a bigger adventure and then we get to Bali and everyone for which again it's by myself here are English English accent all around us every word so guys if you're heading off on a trip traveling firstly we're very jealous like the first bit is so exciting we hope you enjoy your trip we know you'll enjoy your to it we hope some of these tips have kind of helped you we just wanted to have a chat about it and give you guys something reality of what traveling
