Right, it is time to go and explore this new place we are in called
Hue, but before that we need some food. Of course we need some food. Guys, welcome
to another daily juice. Lucy's here by the way. Hello!
Well you asked, we're not being lazy, we're on the 10th floor, right?
So we are being lazy but quite honest.
We said we wouldn't say this anymore but it is hot today. I can't even open my eyes.
Very hot. Our initial impression of Hue last night wasn't the best but I think we were tired,
we were off the bus, there were a few problems with our hotel room, they're moving us to a new
room which is fine, they've fixed the problem and we got offered drugs every two minutes walking
down this very street. But today we're going to go and explore and hopefully it's going to change
our mind of this place a little bit. This restaurant is meant to be like Vietnamese food,
it looks quite cheap and quite local but it's actually like top five in Hue on TripAdvisor
so it's kind of what we're looking for. We don't just think too much, we want to try the local
food and we want it to be good food. And I need a big portion. We've spent all morning in the hotel
room so we're out now in the sun, some fresh air, some good fresh healthy Vietnamese food
after our burgers last night. Yeah, I think it's amazing. It's exactly what we need.
Here it is. Look at the place, the place from the internet. It's real. Thank you.
Only a five minute walk but we already need these cold towels. So we want to try some more
like Vietnamese food. We've tried a load of stuff before but I feel like we've not had many of the
for example rice pancakes. I've seen them everywhere but I haven't tried one yet so
we're going to order that. We're also getting barbecue pork with rice noodles, vegetables
and peanut sauce and of course, where's it gone? Spring rolls. They look really good here.
So first up is the barbecue pork noodles and this looks a little bit different to
what we cooked the other day. It's kind of like a reddish colour.
That's good. Soft pork, really nice. A little bit spicy. That barbecue taste you can tell it's
been cooked on a barbecue. Whole peanuts in here. It's like a papaya type salad on top.
Bean sprouts, carrots. Looks good.
Really nice. Peanut sauce is lovely. It's good sauce isn't it? It tastes like something.
Barbecue pork. We've had that before. Yeah we have the other day, barbecue pork.
The spring rolls now they're like the ones we made with the net around the edge of the fishy.
Is it? It's not hot. Good.
So the final dish on our lunch menu today is shrimp and pork rice cakes. So I'm pretty sure
this is like the rice paper that we made the other day on that tour but deep fried and then
the ingredients put in the middle, folded over. He told us we need to put some salad
in the middle. Just need to open them up.
Put some of this in here.
And then he said you dip it in this peanut sauce.
Let's go. And like again this is hot and fresh. This has just been cooked like all the food out.
So this whole meal which was two welcome drinks. It's nice. Rice cakes, the grilled pork and the
spring rolls. Price is just here it comes to 104 Vietnamese Dong which is about three pounds.
So cheap for two people to have lunch and I love that they print an actual invoice out for your
receipt. Are you full? You get some more food? So in this video today we want to try and find the
best food in Hue. Vietnam as Lucy said has definitely taken over as some of our favourite
food that we've been having there. My favourite so far has been that banh mi, that baguette thing
we had. We all liked the pickles, the pork. That was good. So nice. We purposely didn't have too
much there because we want to kind of eat more and show you guys some more of the food here in Hue.
You love saying Hue don't you? I love saying Hue. Any opportunity you get you're like we're here in
We're going to walk down to the river now and then we might need a little bit of a break in
between dinner and then we'll go out for some more food tonight. So I hope you like food vlogs
guys because this is definitely a food vlog today. And I feel like that's kind of the best way to
explore like everywhere we've been so far we've been quite like we're going to go here, here and
here. Here we didn't really plan anything so we don't know what to expect and it's almost quite
nice. Yeah it's nice to be on our own terms. Just by walking around and kind of getting to know a
place is quite nice and doing it with food makes it even better. Across the road. We're not
obviously going to buy anything but we're purely interested to see how much things cost here
compared to in the UK. They train us in there we're like 1.8 million and I think that's about
90 pounds but that's just some polite guess. Come down to the river now there's a lot of
people selling boat trips but there's like no one here and they're huge boats. I don't even know
if they would have taken us with just us two on it. Look here literally it's like looks like a
ghost town. Across that bridge over there is a place called the imperial city which I think
we'll go to tomorrow. I mean you guys are very young. Some guys have come over to us with our
camera like just asking questions and we were like oh who's this and he's just some student who
just literally wants to have a conversation with us to work on his English. He only started learning
it three months ago and he's got to be like fairly fluent in three months time from now because of
his graduation. He's studying food tech at college like we're just chatting for ages. He might think
that's where to go. He's really good. Now he's been roped into a photo shoot over there with
someone else. Where do you go now? Now? Probably back to hotel and then maybe here tonight. Maybe for the
street food. Oh yeah. Maybe yeah. So thank you for your time. Thank you so much. Great to meet you.
Good English. Yeah. Very good. Keep going. Thank you. Thank you. Work hard. Yeah yeah I'm trying
every day. Yeah yeah. Not to meet you guys. Would you have a nice trip in Vietnam? Thank you.
Thank you very much. Nice to meet you. Bye. Thank you. You too. Bless his heart. Honestly like
I can't imagine me going to another country and just speaking to a local and just literally
just being like hey what are you doing and just trying to make a conversation literally see a
no thanks and then people selling our stuff and then he and then he thanked us for our time. It's
so sweet like I don't like it I like talking to locals because he gave us some help on where to go
and like food here what we should eat what we should do tonight he told if this turns into like
a street food walking street with loads of musicians and stuff later on so he's helped us
and then we've helped him in English so perfect. A quick coffee stop now Lucy's gone for an espresso
I've gone for a Vietnamese black iced coffee which is going to be nice
we've got the fan in our faces because it's 35 degrees today and then we're going to head down
to the night market this evening street food market that that guy told us about
supposed to be some cool like live music and stuff on the river and we're going to try some
proper local street food I'm up to my phone I've got the power bank tucked into my trousers
and I'm dangling it over a balcony trying to keep it as still as possible whilst talking to us we
change rooms and this is so cool this here this massive bit of land is our balcony now we're
somewhere called gold hotel and it's right in the centre great location like we said earlier a
little problem with our old room so they've moved us to this one and I'm sorry I'm trying I can't
really turn enough to talk to you we'll show you inside in a sec let me show you this first look
how cool this is you've probably already seen a better version on the vlog but ready that's cool
isn't it very cool look at that coach crazy honestly the traffic is mental and we can see
here like there's a big crossroads here and then it goes all the way to a bridge over there you
it's amazing and the plan tomorrow morning if we can get our lazy asses out of bed on time
is to sit here and watch the sunrise but we'll probably set an alarm the alarm will go off
and we'll snooze it and wake up at eight o'clock and then go to breakfast about nine
so do you know I think we need to do I think I know what you think we need to do
a map an area to put things you're not sure what to do with a desk a mirror a chair
a fridge I think this is one of them things that you put your cereal on in the kitchen
decorative planks of wood bathroom for the bath and a shower and here
something that controls things but I don't know how it works a phone
a technical dream coat blanket a bed and I think we should start a new thing here
a bed tester so jump on the bed and we'll see the kind of if it bounces back or not
go on this is gonna hurt it's hard oh that's hard that's a hard bed
so we've come back out to the same place that we met our friend earlier
up in this bridge and there's there's a whole market going on it's crazy it feels very local
we seem to be the only kind of tourists here like there's no signs up with English writing
saying what food it is or anything so we're gonna try and find some dinner very very authentic
experience but life's good nightlife is alive and well in the way walking down from our hotel
the place is packed it's busy it's lively but we're hungry again
so we've stopped at one of the very very local places sat on some tiny tiny chairs they are
very small let me show you where we are so we've got the bridge literally all the way along here
start with all the locals our food has arrived already so we've got some
beef noodles and these here and pancake
our mix round thank you
get your dinner mixed for you as well that is good service try some of this oh nice got a big bit of
again fresh full of flavor like unbelievable they say the street food is the best food
in vietnam in asia in general i think the second dish is these pancakes i think they're similar to
what we had earlier but there's like that in it i'm not sure that is um literally on the menu it
just said pancakes i'm not sure i think you wrap them in these little things here put some salad
greasy it's pretty nice it tastes um
it's quite greasy but it's really like the flavor is really nice
