Missed the weekend headlines? Here are
the three stories that you might have
missed but need to know. A resident in
Cookanino County has died from pneumonic
plague, marking the first recorded death
in that area since 2007. The plague is a
rare but serious respiratory illness
caused by the same bacteria that
triggered the black plague in 14th
century Europe, killing tens of
millions. Though today, it's treatable
with antibiotics. According to the CDC,
the US sees about only seven cases per
year, mostly in western states like
Arizona. A devastating wildfire has
destroyed the historic Grand Canyon
Lodge, a designated national historic
landmark since 1937. Sparked by
lightning on July 4th, the Dragon Bravo
fire has destroyed over 5,000 acres.
Officials say 50 to 80 structures were
lost due to a chlorine gas leak at a
nearby water treatment plant. Fire
personnel had to evacuate from critical
zones. No injuries or deaths have been
reported, although several parts of the
park have been closed until further
notice. A new report confirms that
several of former President Biden's
final pardons were authorized using an
autopen, a device that replicates a
person's signature. Internal emails show
that White House aids finalized the
clemency list and approved the use of
the autopen to make the pardons
official. President Trump has since
launched an investigation into whether
the move was legal, claiming it could
point to the misuse of presidential
authority. One top aid Anthony Bernal
has been subpoenaed and is expected to
testify later this week. That's it for
this weekend's stories. Make sure to

down more stories just like these.
