Day 178 was a relaxing water cleanup day on the property. I was able to fill in most of the trench with a box blade on my tractor. I was really hoping to find a used rear blade on the FB marketplace by now, but I haven't found the deal I was looking for. The box blade does the job, but it's slow.
One of the great aspects of recording everything we do is that occasionally, I get to record fun conversations or interactions with my family. My daughter helped set the meter box, and somehow, we ended up talking about crushing flower petals into pigments to make paint. Life is good, friends.

Good morning day 178. We've got water on the property now and it feels good, feels really
really good. I've got the tractor warming up behind me and today's goal is to get the rest
of this trench filled in with the tractor. It's not going to be perfect because anytime you take
earth out of the earth, earth, anytime you dig a hole, a trench, whatever,
and try and put that dirt back in it's all disturbed. Even if you're, you know, putting
something of material size inside it, like a pipe, it's never going to be the same size. I don't know
why that is, but it is what it is. So I'll fill it in the best I can today and over the course of the
winter or whatever I'll come back and touch it up because it's going to do the same thing that
the electrical trench did. It's just going to collapse and you got to fill it back in and it'll
collapse a little bit more as it all settles and that's that. I had a lot of caffeine this morning.
I gotta get off this thing and get to work or else I'm not gonna get anything done because I can
stand here and ramble to the camera forever.
The sun is driving me nuts getting in my eyes starting at this side so I think I'm just gonna
start at the other end of the driveway.
Made in the USA. Made in the USA. Where's everything else made?
China or Indonesia or something. China or Indonesia or something. It's pretty cool to
see something made in USA, right? You want to help me fill in all the dirt around here? All
the dirt has to come flush with here. You want to help me? All right. I'm gonna make that into paint.
Those are flowers so you crush them down into powder and what is powdered color called?
Pigment. And then once you have the pigment, well there's not supposed to be any color.
Whatever color you crush up of flowers will be that color or close to it but generally speaking
colors only get darker. So if you got a light yellow and you put dirt in it it's only going
to get darker. It'll never get lighter because well I tell you what I might be wrong on that
because what happens if you mix white flower powder? Well you mix white with yellow it'll
make it lighter. So yeah I guess I'm wrong on that one.
