Delaware is known for beaches and banking, but according to a new ranking by web hosting company, GoDaddy, Wilmington is also a hub for small business breakthroughs.
It was ranked 7 on GoDaddy's Top 10 list of Most Entrepreneurial Cities in America for 2025.

Finally, at four today, Wilmington,
Delaware has made it to the top 10 list
of most entrepreneurial cities in
America, beating out many larger, better
known metros.
Our Nidia Han here to explain the
factors that went into this ranking and
what makes Wilmington such a great place
to launch a new business. Nidia.
Yeah, this is so cool. Delaware is known
for beaches and banking, but according
to a new ranking by web hosting company
GoDaddy, it's also a hub for small
business breakthroughs.
as opposed to it feeling like a
competitive spirit in Wilmington. I
really noticed a true sense of
community.
Rachel and Andrew Zerba tell me
community is a big reason they started
their real estate business, the Zerba
Group, in Wilmington.
There's tons of great networking events
and there's just overall a lot of people
that are looking to see you succeed with
your new small business.
The Zerbas say that Delaware City's
affordability also helps businesses
thrive.
Low property taxes, no sales tax. You
know, we know firsthand, you know,
having, you know, two young kids under
two that because things are a little
more affordable, we have a little more
disposable income to support those local
businesses.
Wilmington ranked number seven on
GoDaddyy's list of most entrepreneurial
cities of 2025.
That demonstrates how much small
business growth has occurred in
Wilmington over the last year. 8,811
new small businesses launched in
Wilmington just last year. A 14% jump
from the year prior. Another driving
factor is access to talent with many
universities, colleges, and trade
schools in the region.
In addition, you've got transportation,
you've got infrastructure, and you also
have a lot of support from the state and
from the counties to create
opportunities to start a small business
enterprise.
And experts say this is not a fluke, but
a shift. It's a lot easier to stand out
in Wilmington compared to a lot of
larger cities.
Small and mid-size cities are really
rewriting the entrepreneurship play
playbook. I think it's so cool. I was so
proud when I learned this.
It's fantastic. Yeah, Delaware is
getting a lot of honories lately.
Retirement state as well. So, it's good
to see.
Yeah. Well deserved. Thank you.
