[Music]
I'm going to start by making a template
that I can continually reuse throughout
this project so it's going to be the
same size as my seat
are for rectangle looks like my first
Dimension is the long Dimension so let's
go 16 comma 9 enter
now my dimensions are irrelevant you can
take the same shape and make whatever
you want but these are the dimensions
that I want so F4 offset let's come in
0.75 inches
and from here we have the corners to
make our legs so R for rectangle and
let's go 1.5 comma 1.5 enter space bar
to select just the space m for move
control brings up copy
copying one in the corner space bar hold
shift to select both faces and for move
control brings up copy
from here to here
and whoops that is pretty much the shape
that I'm going for but I want to locate
the center point so from this midpoint
let's draw a line to this midpoint
and that gives me a center most point of
my template and just for reference I'm
going to drop a line
and I'm going to use this a little bit
here and there so let's select all of
this G for component enter
and now let's draw our legs our
rectangle from here to here
P for Push Pull let's pull this up
um 28 inches enter and I have my hidden
lines on for some reason so let's press
K to get rid of them
this leg is going to be a compound angle
seven degrees this way
and seven degrees this way so I'm always
going to rotate from my inside most
corner of the legs so a space bar triple
click to select all of this model space
it is not a component yet
Q for rotate now I want to maintain the
red axis here so let's hold shift to
constrain to Red go to my point that I
want and let's go
seven degrees enter
let's go to this side and I want to
constrain to Green this time
from that same point in the leg off of
vertical and not that face off of
vertical
we're gonna go seven degrees enter
so now if this was a knife if my
template was a knife it would make a
compound angled cut and that's exactly
what I want so let's do the exact same
thing by selecting this M for move
control brings up copy and we are going
to
move this one up to here
now we're going to have another knife
cutting this out now because I did not
make this a component yet it is still
model space I can triple click to select
it all right click
intersecting faces with the model that
means any component that is intersecting
with the model will transfer its lines
so if I right click and actually I just
press delete to remove that you can see
my template made a nice cut line all the
way across
so let's use a Crossing to select all
the stuff on top delete it
now we have a compound angle cut but it
removed that top face so Alpha line and
just repeat one of these lines and it'll
put that face back into place
let's hide this for just a second
and do the same thing down here
let's use a Crossing to select all the
stuff on the bottom
delete that hit remove that face so we
can use a line to repeat one of these
lines and it will add it back so that's
my compound angled cut on top and bottom
of the leg space bar triple cut or
triple click G for component
enter now I can edit unhide
my template
let's grab this and for move control
brings up copy and let's just set one
over here we drag it across the green
axis so right click and flip it along
the green axis
grab this Center Point or this corner
point
and put it back in place on our template
because this is symmetrical and I do
have a midpoint
I can select both of these Q for rotate
from the midpoint and I can rotate them
around 180 degrees
but I want to copy them so let's press
Ctrl to bring up the originals and drop
them off
all four legs are in the correct spot
now
all right so this bottom apron right
here it's going to be it's going to have
an angled cut on both sides a nice miter
to cut on both sides but I want I want
the top face over here which is actually
the bottom I'm drawing this upside down
obviously
uh the top face over here I want it to
be perpendicular to the the sides of the
piece
so no cut there but where it intersects
this seat area I want it to be flat so
it's gonna have a seven degree bevel on
one side
so let's R for rectangle and just draw
this in place
uh something like this is fine I guess
and drop it off my second measurement is
my width here so let's press comma 0.75
to change that
P for Push Pull and I'm going to give
this piece a height of 2.5 inches enter
now I need to rotate all of this so that
this face is parallel to this face
so spacebar triple click to select it
all
Q for rotate and I want to maintain the
red axis so I'm going to hold shift once
it's selected
from this point down here this
intersection
off a vertical and I want to go seven
degrees this way enter
now I want it to be in set
by a quarter inch so let's press K to
bring up my hidden lines and I'm going
to t for tape measure just drop a little
guy line off here so I can move this in
perpendicular to this face M for move
along this line here and I'm just going
to exaggerate it so I know I'm on that
line 0.25 inches enter
now I also want the bottom let me hide
my my template here let's hide this
all right so I want this face right here
to be parallel to this face right here
so I'm gonna have to cut seven degrees
off of one side
let's just drag it down there again t
for tape measure
and off of this we're going to spacebar
triple click to select all of model
space
and for move and I'm going to
grab right here let me get a good view
here
grab this angle
this point holding shift to constrain to
that line and I'm going to drop it off
onto that plane so now that this Edge is
perfectly parallel
perfectly on this bottom plane
and I can draw my little cut Alpha line
and this is a seven degree cut I am
about to make piece of push pull
push this all the way off
so now I made this nice little cut
it is in place where we want it but
obviously it's not the correct length so
this is still model space turn my hidden
lines off this is still model space so
just like before I can select it all
right click and intersecting faces with
the model so now my leg lines are
transfer
I no longer need this guideline no
longer need this guideline
so now excuse me now we can hide all of
these legs
and just chop off what we don't need
and just chop off what we don't need now
it kind of removed some of the faces but
that's okay Alpha line
let's connect the dots here
if I do this one it'll bring back both
of these faces
spacebar triple click G for component
enter let's edit
unhide all so I brought my template and
the legs back
and this is a pretty accurate
representation of this piece both edges
are mitered and this bottom piece it has
a seven degree bevel so it sits nice and
flush up against the bottom of the seat
let's make a copy of this with no no
sense in drawing that again if we've
already done all the geometry here Q for
rotate and just going to rotate another
one 90 degrees pressing Ctrl to bring up
copy
and move and I'm going to grab it from
here and set it in place
I want that quarter inch offset so I'm
going to drag it along the red axis by
0.25 inches enter
and I don't need it this long so let's
right click and say you are unique you
are no longer a long piece space bar
double click the edit to edit the part
and I'm going to select all of this face
on the back side over here without even
looking at it by using a window
M for move
from here and I'm going to constrain to
the red axis and I'm just going to
decrease its length up to this endpoint
right there
spacebar and I can get out of the piece
I'm only going to draw half of this at a
time and just rotate that other ones in
but anyway the next piece is I want the
top of them to be nine inches off the
floor so let's go ahead and draw the
floor real quick
spacebar triple click G for component
enter so now this plane reference plane
right here is a component M for move and
I'm going to move it nine inches
perpendicular to its face
so now I have a reference location for
my
my other pieces here
are for rectangle from here
over to here and my second one is my
front to back width so I can press comma
0.75 inches enter
P for Push Pull let's push this up or
pull this up 2.5 inches enter
space bar
uh actually
yeah let's do this first t for tape
measure us drop this guideline off and
I'm going to only select this line
M for move and I'm going to move it
along here basically making my mitered
ends
and again these are 7 7 degree Cuts as
well
only select this line and for move from
here constrain to that line where they
intersect to that plane
and that's pretty much it for this part
so spacebar triple click G for component
enter
now I can cue for rotate
off of the red plane from this point
down here off of vertical let's go seven
degrees enter
and for move and let's move it into the
part on the green axis
0.25 inches enter
I'm not worried about
beveling the top and bottom faces here
this is perfectly all right
so I can delete this
um actually I'm just going to leave it
in place real quick let's delete the
guideline
grab this
Q for rotate and let's just rotate one
another 190 degrees pressing Ctrl to
bring up copy
right click and say you are unique you
are no longer a copy and for move from
here
to this intersection down there
because it is no longer a copy I can
spacebar double click to edit the part
only select this face with a window
that face is selected
and move from here over to here now I
have my new part in place spacebar click
to get out
grab this M for move and I'm going to
move it into the middle of the piece by
0.25 inches under
now I can delete my reference plane
and now that I have all four of my
pieces done
select them all
Q for rotate
off this Center Point
and let's rotate them 180 degrees
pressing Ctrl to bring up copy and drop
them off
that's pretty much it so our rectangle
from here to here I'm gonna draw my
cushion
P for Push Pull going down
0.75 inches enter
spacebar and I can delete my initial
guide
so now that I have
let's delete my initial guy there we go
now I can triple click the G for
component enter and that's pretty much
the bar stool so let's select it all
Q for rotate
and rotate it back to where it should be
and for move from down here let's just
throw it in the or the origin just for
the sake of it
and there you go very accurate
representation of this bar stool
