UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2017_18 SEASON REVIEW

Manchester United is a giant, really. Our job is to try to bring the football team back to that reality. ...continues. What a strike from Kowalczyk. Lukachayan, that's 4-0. A wonderful night for Basel. Manchester United have made it through to the knockout stages. Paris Saint-Germain are away into the Parisian night with all three points. Huge questions for Bayern Munich. The dismal performance in their last Champions League game that led to Carlo Ancelotti's exit already seems quite a while ago. It's another five-goal haul for PSG. They've been irresistible again. Bayern Munich make it through to the knockout stages. Back to Petro, 1-0. It's a sensational goal. It's a spectacular return to the Champions League for Chelsea. What's it in? Oh, and it's brilliantly guided in. That's why Chelsea have won it with virtually the last kick. What an absolute belter. Roma leapfrogging Chelsea at the top of the table to the Champions League. What a night this is turning into for Barcelona. They're three up against last season's finalists. Pjanic, back with the back. He floats in the cross. What an impact. His 100th European goal. He scores in style to wrap it up for Juve. This is sensational. Half an hour played, Sevilla nil, Liverpool three. Liverpool are romping it in Spain. What a turnaround. Sevilla three, Liverpool three. Here's Salah's chance. Surely he's going to. He does. When they are good, they are very good indeed. Sevilla into the last 16 as runners-up. Whipped in by Nebrojna. And it's an absolutely wonderful goal from Kevin Nebrojna. And everything Nebrojna touches turns to gold. Job done for Manchester City. Parloff on second side. Looking well set for the last 16. ...from Bujic-Tach on the bridge of qualification for this. Crossman at the double to pile on the problems for Monaco. For Porto, are through, adding some style here. It's a team, it's a club, it's an institution that is hungry. In the blink of an eye. We know where we are and what we want. We wanted to show everyone that we weren't just here to make up numbers. We want to not only play against some of the best teams, but beat them as well. It is some comeback onto the European scene. Something to hear, something to savour. Neymar, it's back to Rabiot. So many goals, all kinds of goals. Alcero! It's Vasquez, lifting one across for Cristiano Ronaldo. But it is Real Madrid who have cruised through to the quarterfinals. The staggering Liverpool performance. Porto have been brushed aside. So easy for Bayern Munich. It is almost cruel when they show this sort of quality. Very few teams can live with them. What a start for Juventus. A disaster start for Tottenham Hotspur. Around Buffon, Harry Kane! Tottenham back at the tie. They were 2-0 down, it's 2-2. There it is, first switched off. Gimbala to break Tottenham hearts. Juventus have turned the tie on its head. Ben Yedam! It's a wonderful finish. Sevilla have done it at Old Trafford. As simple as that, City are flying again. Who's it going to be here from the Stadio Olimpico? Brilliantly taken! Prince, Romans, countrymen, bring me your noise! And just listen to it now. It has become a real rivalry. It's hit the back of the Barcelona net. And Messi ends the hoodoo against Chelsea. It will run on for Lionel Messi. Oh, he's squeaked it in. Well, it's a great start for Barcelona. Slice through. Barcelona have booked their place in the last eight. Since the draw was made, we've been counting the hours. Anfield could have been sold out three, four times over. You can't just defend against Man City, you can't just put them in. And then you say, maybe you don't score today. They just do too well for it. You have to be brave yourself. Is it going to drop for him? It did. He might still get it. Salah's there! Salah scores! First blood to Liverpool. Mo Chamberlain goes for goal and finds it! Incredible for Liverpool. Mane's going in! We expected something extraordinary, but nothing like this. They might be conceding, here they are. Mane's still going. Salah's there! And it's the away goal for Liverpool. I think a lot more people believe in it now. But Liverpool fans believe again. Van Aerts in trouble. Hans de Beeren gone in front. What a lift that has given to the travelling Germans. Santiago has taken full advantage. A second away goal for Bayern. Jupp Heynckes' team into the semi-finals. In European football terms, it can't ever be much bigger than Juventus versus Real Madrid. He puts it into Ronaldo! Just the start, Juventus dreaded. Ronaldo! Juventus supporters are applauding that team. Marcelo, Real Madrid are running away with it. It is a dream start for Juventus. From Licksteiner, and it might be on. Navas has filled it! And Between has turned it in! It is 3-0 on aggregate. Unbelievable in Madrid. Penalty! And it's a red card! Is that for fun? Ronaldo! This is De Rossi on goal. Off the post and spun from home. Gerard Pique. And that could give new life to this tie. He had it way before. Barcelona have a huge advantage in the tie now. 6th minute, Edin Dzeko, goal. They needed the early goal. 58th minute, Daniele De Rossi, goal. What a tie we have now. 22nd minute, Kostas Manolas, goal. This is a 3-0 win for Barcelona. What a finish by Marcelo. The nominal left-back who loves to attack. Marco Asensio is in the clear. It's in the net. Ruthlessly punished by Real Madrid. And it's the opening goal and it's Kinnick again. Marcelo, it's a lovely cross. Benzema plants it in the header. They always score at the Bernabeu. Oh, it's a gift for Benzema. A complete gift. How on earth has that happened? Hamas goes again and scores. Don't rule out Bayern. Real go through. Everything but for Bayern. These are the very special moments. Biggest game in most of these players' careers to date. Salah. Brilliant. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant by Hamid Salah. You really can't quite believe the things that he's doing. This already is another famous Reds' night in Europe. 5-0 Liverpool. Firmino's got his second now. And Edin Dzeko has got Roma. An away goal. Those Roma fans expect. Perotti delivers. They believe again. Liverpool in an even stronger position. And it's in. That's changed the mood. That's lifted the noise. It's back and it's Wijnaldum who's headed Liverpool in front again. Karius Park. Dzeko. And Golan hits it and he beats Karius. They've got to get two more. Nangulu fires in. The gap is just one. No more time. Liverpool are through. And it is an epic battle in Kiev on the 26th of May. What a night in prospect. Two of the biggest names in European football. Two clubs steeped in history. Two teams who hope to light up Kiev. A third successive Champions League for Real Madrid. A fourth in five years. Or can Liverpool add another chapter to their remarkable European history? Ronaldo bearing down on goal. Alexander-Arnold. There's a real problem here for Mohamed Salah. 30 minutes gone. And his Champions League final is over. Real Madrid get the second half underway. Extraordinary. Benzema taking advantage. And that is a gift for Real Madrid. Lovren out. And it's been twisted for Liverpool. Liverpool show their fight. Off the bench. Welsh international Gareth Bale. It's the spectacular. It's Gareth Bale. Wonderful goal. Sensational from Gareth Bale. Oh, he's gone for it. And it's gone straight through the goalkeeper's hands. Another nightmare moment. Valorius Karius. A second goal for Gareth Bale. What a night in Kiev. And it's Real Madrid's night. It's finished. Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool. Real Madrid away for Champions League winners 2018.
