"Review" of my new Bosch 12-v combo drivers - 044

all right I want to talk about some drills today um I just purchased a a combo set and absolutely Blown Away by them but I want to first let you know what I'm coming from to get a little perspective on my review um I've had this Black and Decker uh 18vt nikad battery since 2005 I think is when I got it and uh it's worked great it's put together a lot of pine benches with some uh three in coated decking screws so it's it's got its miles on it um one cool thing about it it's got like the regular 38 single sleeve Chuck and then you attach the the uh keyless Chuck to it kind of neat kind of cumbersome but it it was great for years until the clutch started to slip on it and now it just it it's it doesn't really do much good at all uh I traded some junk for some more junk a skill 18vt um just regular 18vt drill absolute garbage uh like I said traded junk for junk so that's pretty pointless what I got uh just the other day was this Bosch 12vt uh lithium ion um 12vt lithium ion combo set it's got a a impact and a drilled r driver and both of them both of them have have lights up front which I don't know if I've gotten used to that or not whatever um the batteries on these things they're 12 volts which makes them a little bit lighter I was kind of debating on whether or not to get 18vt or 12vt but I figured um you know 12vt has the power necessary but it's not as heavy so I went with these and lithium ion I imagine the 12vt lithium ion is probably just as good as those uh ancient 18vt nikad so um oh battery life uh these I got these three days ago and I've used them every day for for work and then also here out in the shop and uh I haven't had to charge them yet so I don't know if they came with a full charge the impact has a green LED light there's three bars right there that shows you the battery life when you use it so that's kind of neat the yeah the impact has the light the drill driver does not um but what it can do let me show you this piece of wood so there's no there's no pre-old drill there's no holes pre-drilled or anything it's just a just a scrap piece of 2x4 that I've been playing around with on the other side so anyway uh this is the impact let me different Shu in here the impact 3in coated decking screw uh and two pieces of Pine two fingers very easy that is I used to uh I used to Bear down with all my weight with the with the Dew um sorry with the Black & Decker there uh building most of my benches but I've never been able to do this um that's really handy now the drill driver has got two speeds one is a 300 RPM and the other I'm sorry a 400 RPM and 1100 RPM and uh you know it's pretty strong as well me get it started that was on the first speed a little bit more tky now the faster speed drives them no problem it actually it's actually sucking them through the other side it's counter syncing quite a bit um now those were some starhead coated decking screws uh Phillips is always a little bit more challenging so I will go ahead and show you Phillips as well this is a 3-in uh Phillips drywall screw coar [Music] thread no problem there either and they really suck through the other side once you get close and on the impact well one thing I really like about the impact is backing stuff out uh these these Phillips head screws especially if there's a lot of uh grip on that screw as there is when when the screw is fully surfaced uh if you were to take a regular drill like like this old uh black and deckor and just try and pull that out with a Phillips head and a lot of pressure you're still going to want to twist a little bit but this imp because it's short bursts of torque I mean I've never stripped one out I've used this like I said the past 3 days at work and they come out no problem even being uh even being regular Phillips head screws so I'm very impressed with that I've never had an impact let me say that too I've never had an impact before so um other than like an air compressor impact for your lug nuts on vehicles um this thing is so cool the uh where am I at the drill driver just like any other drill no problem there um but yeah I'm absolutely Blown Away with these These are so cool they have them let's see lowe.com had them for sale the day I got them uh lowe.com was $179 and I was debating between these and the DeWalt for $1.99 uh the DeWalt I think the specifications had them like a pound or two lighter so I was actually tempted to get them um but I got to the store like I said lowe.com 179 uh I found each one of these in their individual boxes for 139 and 149 I forget which which one was which uh 139 149 and then I just happened to walk all the way down the end of one of their one of their aisles and they had one combo box left and it was marked down from 189 which was $10 more than online to $139 so their price their their price is just absolutely confusing I ended up walking away with both of these uh I purchased them for 139 had a 10% off coupon and then I plus 7% sales tax where I'm at and that's 13481 so uh very good deal as far as I'm concerned it's got like a 30 minute charger for the batteries so you know as far as not having enough power long distance-wise versus an 18vt um if I'm using this one you know you can throw this one in the charger in half hour's time have a full charge hey that's that's no time at all really um but I just wanted to I guess say how thrilled I am at these these little things like I said I've been using them for uh about 3 days uh at my day job and then also here in the shop and they are just absolutely great
