It's Andrew Jackson, seventh president of the United States, badass first class.
Andrew Jackson was a frontier fighter. He fought the British. He survived countless,
excruciatingly difficult military campaigns. He's one of the most sensational figures of
American history. Jackson was quick-tempered and extremely proud. If somebody looked at him the
wrong way or somebody impugned his character in any way, he needed satisfaction. And hence,
we have a serial duelist. Jackson loved duels. We don't know how many duels he's fought and
historians are split. Some say it's 13. Some say there's way more than that. But it's more than
most people have duels. Jackson fought his most famous duel in 1806 with Charles Dickinson.
His father-in-law was having a drawn-out feud over a horse bet gone wrong with Jackson. Charles
Dickinson stood up for his father-in-law and the two met with dueling pistols.
Dickinson is an awesome shot. Everybody knows this, including Andrew Jackson.
So Jackson, like the insane badass that he was, said, you can go first.
And Andrew Jackson stands there like an oak tree.
So the bullet hits Andrew Jackson, cracks his ribs, lands like millimeters away from
the guy's heart. But Jackson doesn't go down. Jackson calmly took out a handkerchief,
staunched the wound, said he was okay. Takes his gun out, aims for the heart.
Bang! Kills him dead. It's hard to pick which is the most badass part of that story.
For me, it's him demanding that the guy take the first shot.
You might be wondering where the bullet went. Bullet stays in Andrew Jackson. He carried that
to the day he died. That's badass. There's no fight like a duel, and Old Hickory did it best.
For pulling off the ultimate win, our experts give Andrew Jackson a perfect 20 in round one.
