This time we featured Kayla Curtis-Evans, a creative editor at HYPEBEAST to talk about her fashion philosophy. She also integrated her ideas about fashion into her looks with SNIDEL's pieces and built three looks together for this fall.
Hi, my name is Kayla Curtis-Evans. I'm a creative editor at Hypebeast,
and I'm here at Snydal in the Lower East Side to pick out some fall looks.
Some of my favorite fall fashion trends at the moment, I love a bow always. So this type of
sweater is definitely up my style alley. I love kind of this type of matching set.
I am a big fan of a sweater dress. I think it's really versatile for the fall,
paired with some accessories like a bowling bag or Mary Jane's or ballet flats are some of my
favorites. And I think that these Snydal pieces really let you build up as a starting point. So
that's one of my favorite things about a lot of these pieces. My fashion choices are heavily
inspired by the people around me. I think that I'm someone who kind of absorbs and takes that in
and makes that my own. And New York especially is such an expressive city that I think there's
inspiration everywhere. As cheesy as that sounds, I think you just got to look for it all around
you. There's nothing that I really love more than a matching set. It is a one and done outfit,
and this green one is so adorable. So this is going to be my first look.
Personal style is really important to me because I think it is the first way that you tell someone
who you are before you even speak to them. It's kind of like the front lines of how someone gets
to know you and maybe your interests or how you portray yourself. I think that it's a really
important thing to kind of tell the world a little bit about who you are. I'm thinking
for my second look to go with this top. I love the ruffles and all of these elements that you
can really customize and play around with. I'm going to add in a sock. I love a fun accessory
to kind of just add something dynamic to the look. And then coming over here, this skirt
was calling my name. I am a big fan of mini skirts for any look, so I think this is the second.
I think that keeping fashion fun is about being unafraid to try new things. I was someone who
definitely conformed to certain style standards in the past and wanted to wear the same things
that everyone else was wearing and shop at all the same stores that everyone else was shopping at.
I think the way to keep it fun and refreshing and exciting is to just not be afraid to be daring and
to push the boundaries with your own style and to experiment and see if you can find something new
that you end up really liking. I picked out these shoes for my look number two because I love the
slingback detail and they're definitely a comfy and laid back option for the fall as well.
I value longevity and versatility the most in an item of clothing. I hope when I buy something that
it can live in my wardrobe for years to come and I think those things go hand in hand because if
a piece is truly versatile then you have so many ways to wear it and you'll want to hold
on to it for longer. So those are two things that I look for when shopping for pieces.
I mentioned my love for matching sets, so I'm gonna go with another one for my look number
three. I think a skirt like this is really versatile. You could pair it down with like a
graphic tee. In this case, I will do this full look together and then I was thinking of pairing
the boots with it as well. I love a dynamic layered look for the fall like this one. I think
I'm going to incorporate this blue cardigan into another look as well.
I think that Snydal styles are the perfect canvas to kind of build up from. I am someone who, as I
mentioned before, really appreciates versatility in a piece and a lot of these pieces can be mixed
and matched or layered like the look that I have on right now and I think that it's just the
possibilities are endless so that's why I love all of these different pieces and I'm excited to kind
of mix and match them and continue wearing them throughout my wardrobe. This is the look number
one. I love a pop of color so I went with the green. We paired it with the black bowling bag,
black shoes, some lace socks to add a little texture and I love it. This is the look number
two. I like to challenge myself by incorporating the same pieces into different looks and styling
them in different ways so we use the same shoes, the same bag, and the same socks but
added this drop waist mini skirt, this top which has a lot of movement
and I think it's a good transitional outfit for the fall.
We have the third and final look here. Another matching set because they truly are my favorite.
We have this blue cardigan. I just liked how it pulled out the blue in the set. Another bowler
bag with a pair of boots and then the bag charm to finish off the look because they're my favorite
little accessory at the moment. Those are my three fall looks. Thank you Snydo for having me and thank
you for shopping along.
