They say that if you chop your own wood, then you'll be warmed twice.
Well, that may be true, but over the years, we've developed some much more efficient
ways of doing it. Even trees on a hillside aren't safe from this incredible machine.
This process is known as thinning. Yes, that's right, just like the hair on your granddad's
head. Or your dad's head. Or your own head. We don't know how old you are.
A debarking machine. You know, there's a dog next door that I'd love to use this machine on.
Hey, nice collection of spruce trees you have there. Excuse me while I destroy them.
They say you have to fall before you can get back up again. The trees who've encountered
this thing do not agree. This is called a log ripper. Can you guess what it does?
Pine trees quiver in fear at the sight of this gadget.
Imagine accidentally sitting on this to have your lunch.
Teeth like these need the world's biggest toothpick.
In some ways, this is basically like a big carving knife. Thanksgiving turkey, anyone?
The word harvesting barely seems adequate to describe this thing.
It's a mulcher with a special mulching head, which is just something you need if you're
going to be a professional mulcher. This horizontal grinder is hungry,
and it needs feeding. And now to get rid of all those pesky branches.
Peeling logs as simply as if they were peeling an orange.
A portable sawmill for sawing and milling on the move.
Remember that game Pick Up Sticks? Well, it's that on a huge level.
And here's the polar opposite of our previous clip.
This is called a forage harvester, but it's also called teamwork.
Yeah, just hanging around in the forest ripping up some trees.
So you complain about needing to weed the garden, huh?
Just imagine if you had to do this.
It's a logger. It creates logs. That's all you need to know.
Hey, pick them up. Don't just drag them. Trees are expensive.
Loading, delimbing, sorting, and piling. That's what tiger cats do best.
This thing weighs 20 tons, which means it can carry a serious amount of wood.
Mulch protection is important. Everybody loves mulch.
You have a tree that's getting in the way? Well, let us turn it into nothing.
This is a stump crusher. So you probably think that it crushes stumps, don't you?
And you'd be completely right. This is known as Brazilian mulching.
No, not really. But this is a mulcher, and it is mulching in Brazil.
An organic recycler. If you can count anything made out of metal, glass, and rubber as organic.
If you work in forestry, and therefore in a forest, then a winch is a pretty handy thing to have.
Not only a great way to chop logs, but also a great way to lose your fingers.
What did I just say? Watch those fingers. Why doesn't anybody ever listen to me?
Personally, I never get bored watching woodworkers creating boards.
It's called a woodcracker, and I think you can probably figure out why.
Yeah, you just feed most of your arms right in there. Don't pay any attention to me.
Cutting tree stumps, and time, in half.
Wouldn't reversing any vehicle be a lot easier if you had one of these?
Here's the bandit, stealing its way through some undergrowth.
A stump crusher doing what stump crushers do best. You know, crushing stumps.
For trees that need to be well and truly skilled.
So, this is where your firewood comes from, folks. Believe it or not, it's called a firewood
processor. Watching this sawmill doing its thing is pretty hypnotic.
Oversized log? What you need, my friend, is the cord king monster splitter.
There's a reason why the name John Deere is so well known in the farming and forestry industries.
Yes, it's basically like one massive hand.
A log loader loading logs, which is all you can ask of it, really.
This chipper can take care of any kind of log you care to throw at it.
An ingenious firewood processor. Who's it designed by? John Deere, of course.
So, what do you think of the log cut MCS40 might be designed to do? Go on, take a wild guess.
When the trees you're felling are near people's houses, you need a safe and pretty specialist
piece of equipment. Gnarly logs being transformed into conveniently sized pieces of firewood.
Or firewood being processed by a man in a little cabin.
Are you tired of clips about firewood yet? Of course you're not, so here's another.
And right at the other end of the production line, a planting machine.
Clearing its way through a forest like a boss.
Hey, we haven't seen a mulching video in a while. Here's one right now.
It's a self-propelled pruning machine. Isn't it obvious?
If you enjoy grinding in a forest, then you need a forestry grinder.
Possibly even a hydraulic one. The VarioTrek 300 is a self-propelled
shredder used for the maintenance of partitions and common brush clearing work.
But hey, this isn't a commercial. Just take a look at the thing in action.
