How to Make Chicken Shawarma

Welcome back to The Busy Baker. Today on the channel we're making one of my favorite easy
dinner recipes, this easy chicken shawarma made on a sheet pan. It's a super versatile
recipe that comes together in about five minutes and bakes up in about 15 minutes
and you can choose to bake it right away, leave it in the marinade for a couple of hours, or
make it for meal prep and make it a couple of days ahead. So we're going to start with one pound of
boneless skinless chicken breasts and to that we're going to add three quarters of a cup of
greek yogurt, four cloves of garlic that have been pressed or very finely minced, a teaspoon of salt,
a teaspoon of black pepper, half teaspoon of ground cumin, half a teaspoon of chili powder,
half a teaspoon of cinnamon, one teaspoon of smoked paprika, and the juice of one lemon.
Toss that together very very well. This is going to be the marinade mixture that your chicken is
going to sit in and it's a good idea to let it marinate for anywhere from two hours to 24 hours.
The greek yogurt will tenderize the chicken, it will make it nice and tender and juicy,
but it's not an absolutely necessary step. The chicken will be nice and juicy and nice and
flavorful even if you don't marinate it for any more than 10 minutes. Place the chicken thighs
upside down on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spray them with a little bit of oil, and then
bake them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes or until they're slightly charred on the top.
If you're finding that your oven is not charring the chicken the way that you would like, you can
simply turn on the broiler and let the chicken sit under the broiler for a couple of minutes.
Be sure that once you remove them from the oven you give them a few minutes to rest. This will
help seal in the juices and help the chicken stay nice and moist and then you can slice the chicken
thighs and serve them alongside your favorite fixings. We like to serve these in pitas and
everybody gets to make their own dinner how they like it with some lettuce or tomatoes, some pickled
onions, we'll link that recipe below. It's super easy and it's a great addition to the shawarma.
We also love using this chicken to make shawarma bowls with some simple rice and all of the
toppings and you can even turn it into a salad for more of a low-carb meal. We hope you love this easy
dinner recipe as much as our family does and if you do be sure to give this video a thumbs up,
