Jul 25, 2025 Old Cookbook Cake Recipe You Can Make in 5 Minutes! 🕰️🍰 The Taste of Childhood! ❤️
This quick and easy cake recipe comes straight from the pages of an old cookbook—and it’s packed with that nostalgic flavor we all remember from childhood. Made with just a few simple ingredients and ready in 5 minutes, it’s the perfect dessert for busy days or sweet cravings.
In this video, I’ll show you how to recreate this timeless treat step by step. It’s soft, comforting, and tastes just like the cakes our grandmas used to make!
Hello friends! In a bowl, crack 3 room temperature eggs. If you haven't subscribed yet, I'd be so
happy for you to join our little community. Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract,
and 2 cups or 400 grams of sugar. Now take your hand mixer and beat everything together. Start on
low speed, then increase to medium. Mix for about 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture becomes smooth
and creamy. Next, pour in 1 cup or 240 grams of plain yogurt. Use a whisk to gently mix it in.
Yogurt adds moisture and a slight tang that gives the cake a rich well-rounded flavor. It also helps
the texture stay soft for days. Now pour in 1 cup or 240 milliliters of vegetable oil. Whisk it in
until everything looks smooth. Oil is important for keeping the cake moist and tender, especially
as it cools. In a bowl, combine 3 cups or 360 grams of all-purpose flour with 1 tablespoon
of baking powder. Stir the two together with a spoon or a whisk to evenly distribute the baking
powder. Now take a fine mesh sieve, place it over your wet mixture, and sift in half of the flour
mixture. Sifting helps remove any lumps and adds a bit of air to the batter, making the cake lighter
and more delicate. Gently whisk it in, don't rush this part. The more gently you mix, the softer
your cake will be. If you have any questions about the recipe or need any tips, feel free to drop them
in the comments. I'm always happy to help. Now sift in the rest of the flour mixture. I always enjoy
hearing where you're watching from, so let me know in the comments what country, state, or city are you
in today. Again, mix slowly and carefully with your whisk until everything is smooth and even.
Make sure there are no dry spots or lumps left in the batter.
Then take a spatula and gently fold the batter a few more times. Scrape the bottom and sides of
the bowl to make sure everything is fully incorporated. Folding instead of stirring keeps
the batter airy and prevents over-mixing. Now, in a small saucepan, add three ounces or 90 grams of
70% dark chocolate. If you don't have baking chocolate, you can simply chop a regular chocolate
bar. Now, add three ounces or 90 milliliters of heavy cream. About 33% fat works well.
Stir gently as the chocolate melts. It's important to keep the heat low and stir constantly so it
doesn't burn. Once the chocolate and cream melt together into a smooth sauce, add one teaspoon
of powdered sugar. Stir again until it's glossy and smooth. The sauce should be pourable,
but not too thin. Now, take your prepared baking dish, already greased with butter and lightly
dusted with flour. Gently pour the cake batter into the prepared dish. If you're enjoying the

Use your spatula to spread it evenly and smooth the top. Don't shake the pan, just guide the
batter into place slowly and evenly. Now, it's time for the chocolate swirl. Take your piping
bag or use a small spoon if you don't have one and carefully drizzle the chocolate sauce over
the top of the batter. Create the pattern exactly as shown in the video. This helps the swirl stay
on the surface and gives the cake that beautiful, elegant look after baking. Try to keep your hand
steady and move slowly so the design turns out nice and even. Now, sprinkle the top with sliced
almonds. They'll toast lightly in the oven and add a delicate crunch to the soft, moist cake.
Place your cake into a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Celsius and
bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Once it's baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for a
little bit. This helps the structure set and makes it easier to slice without crumbling.
Now, cut a slice and look inside. It's moist, golden, with beautiful chocolate swirls and
toasted almonds on top. Take a bite. The texture is soft and rich, the chocolate adds depth,
and the almonds give it just the right finish. It's the kind of cake you'll want to make again
and again. Thank you so much for cooking with me today. I hope this recipe brings
warmth and joy into your kitchen. Until next time, happy cooking!
