In this episode we get wild on a Dinasour Trail, it's wet at a wonderful waterfall and Gary gets wet while fishing 🎣....and we discover our weight is more than we want it to be...😂
Hi everyone, how you doing? We're now on week 11 and since our last episode we've travelled from
Tennessee all the way to Pennsylvania. Coming up in today's episode we show you something wild,
something serene and we also share with you our best campsite to date, don't we? Yeah.
And also as a little bonus because we love you so much, we're going to share something
very personal with you today. We got ourselves weighed, didn't we Gary? We did. Oh my gosh,
we've been piling on the beef because we've been chomping down like there's no tomorrow
since we arrived in America, haven't we babes? We might have done. So we break the scales this week
and you can see all that coming up but first of all, here's our map.
The majority of last week was spent fixing the van and if you haven't seen that video,
we've pushed that out last week. It's called How to Fix a Motorhome Bumper for Around £50.
We'll put the link below this. And actually it did really cost less than £50 for us. Before
we left Tennessee, we visited one of the best free activities we've been to. Have a look at this. So
we've come to Bluff City in Tennessee and there's this brilliant attraction called Backyard Terrace
Dinosaur Park. It's completely free. Come in, there's a few notices. Please do not feed the
dinosaurs. That's very important, Gary, so don't even think about it.
There's a Veliraptor enclosure apparently, so I'm just going to go in here.
Oh, it's quite dark. Gary's gone somewhere else. I don't know where he's gone. Look at these.
Oh, God. Oh, flipping hell. It's horrible in here. It's like all sorts of things. It's really,
it's really well done. Oh, my gosh. Look at this. It's like Jurassic. I think it's like all over.
There's a workshop area there. Pardon our dust while we prevent extinction. I just think this is,
whoever's done this absolutely loves dinosaurs.
The dinosaur trails, but I think we're actually a bit lost.
We can't believe it, can we? It's great, isn't it? It's absolutely magnificent.
Isn't that a brilliant place? It is, but there is an ongoing battle between the owner
and the local council who are trying to shut him down. So let's hope he manages to win that battle
because it's a great activity. It's fantastic. So then we went on to Pennsylvania and we visited
something really unusual. It's a real architectural dream. Have a look at this.
So we're just at Falling Waters and we're just getting our tickets. It's $17 each. That's $34
for the pair of us for a look around the ground. So we're going to have a look like a little visitor
center. It's all like wooden and beautiful. It's a little cafe and everything here. So it's quite
nice. Heading down to the, where are we heading to the house itself? The overview. The overview.
And what's the bear on? It's going on about a bear on. What's that? The bear on is the river.
So that's what they're called. The river that runs underneath the house that leads to the
waterfall. Wow. It's really hard to describe how beautiful this is. The waterfall is underneath
the house and goes into the bear run, which is obviously the water flowing beneath it.
It's unbelievably beautiful and peaceful. You might be quite surprised at the price actually.
So the original estimate was $35,000, but the final cost ended up being in the region of around
$148,000 with an additional $11,300 for architectural fees. Could you imagine
being able to get something like this for that kind of money nowadays? No chance.
Check out that statue. Looks like me babe in the morning.
Look at the bear run. Oh, it's beautiful.
Brilliant design that was. Are you feeling nice and serene? Well, let's wake you up a little
and shake it up a bit. So we then went onto the most fantastic campsite. Now we weren't
expecting it to be so brilliant. And in this clip, you can see not only does Gary fix the job,
but I get very creative. Oh, this is really beautiful. So we're just coming into where
campground is. This lovely river there. It's just over there, isn't it? Just parked up at
Kellettville and it is a very rustic site and we are over the moon because we're right at the end
and I booked it right at the end. I saw the pitch online, but look, we're right by the river. There's
a load of spare wood here. Gary's looking at the wood now for the fire. See where we're parked.
Now there's a little pavilion bit there and a couple of barbecues, which is great because we're
chucking the barbecue on in a minute and having a couple of drinks. I cannot wait. But look, there
is nobody, nobody near us for ages and the nearest pitch is a little bit over there, but there's no
reserve sign on it. Honestly, I'm beside myself with glee that there is nothing here. It's just
perfect, isn't it, Bab? And for the first night in, I don't know how many nights, we're level,
aren't we? We are absolutely spot on. Oh gosh, my back is already doing a bit of a flip.
It's so excited. And what are you getting out now? Stabilisers. So he's just going to put the
stabilisers on. I'm a little bit excited, so I'm going to show you around a bit. This is my idea
of heaven in the middle of nowhere almost. Lovely river frontage. Look, a bit of a woodland, so we
can do a little bit of walking as well. We've got a fire pit. It looks a bit of a state, but you wait
till that fire's going later. It's going to be amazing. And then there's a couple of barbecues
on there and there's a hook there to do a bit of washing if we wanted to. Oh my gosh, how lucky are
we? The great things about stopping in a site and there's no one around is that you can get a few
jobs done and you've decided that you're going to spray the front of this, haven't you, Gary? Yeah,
because it's looking a bit old and worn. So I've masked everything up and I've put some
paper over there so that I'm just spraying the actual bonnet and we'll see how it works out.
Oh wow, that looks amazing. I got chased in by wasps, so I didn't record the whole thing, but
wow, what a difference, babe. Yeah, it's not bad. Protect it now, make sure nothing flies on it in
the wind like a leaf or something like that before it dries like that. I've decided to make
a fishing net and Gary thinks it's stupid, don't you? I don't think it is. This is the sort of
thing a kid has at the beach. Yes, well, exactly. Where fish aren't running away. Well, you can't
run away that much. You'll never get anywhere close to a fish. Well, why don't you take it
in the water and see? Well, how about you take it in the water? I don't want to go near there
I would hate to rob you of your success when your idea comes to fruition and we get a big pike.
I don't want a pike. I don't think they're very nice, are they? A big mouth bass on the barbecue
tonight. Yeah, well, you go and just stand in the water and give it a go first, please,
because I don't want to go near the wasp's nest. There's a wasp's nest just over there and I'm
going to try. I want you to go there. What are we doing? Trying to catch a fish with it? A bass,
yes, please, for dinner. Go on, have a go. The wasp's nest is just over there. We saw it this
morning, so I don't like going anywhere near it. But look, we're right by the water where the motor
home is. Oh, look, I can see loads of activity, Gary. But don't get those really little ones
because they've got to go back in. They're called water striders. What are they? They're insects.
Oh, I don't want any of them. Don't get a strider. Go inside the water a bit more.
You've got you've got water shoes on. What did you get?
Oh, very funny. Oh, yeah, it was just water.
Yeah, but the thing is with you, Gary, you're not even trying.
Go in the middle and hold the net open.
Look, I forgot to defrost anything. So if you manage to catch a fish, that'll be amazing.
But we'll only take what we'll eat, babes. So if you're going to get a sea bass, we'll do nicely.
Thank you. What? There isn't a catch and release policy. It would have said it on the sign.
Oh, don't get a snake. Nope, nope. I don't even know if you if you see any snakes come out of
that water. Oh, gosh. Now I'm worried about you getting a snake. Don't go much deeper,
babes, because just in case it gets really deep. Yeah. But if it does, all of a sudden, is it
Gary's fishing with my homemade net? Hmm. I've got a feeling my fishing net's not going to work,
but I'll keep him busy for half an hour.
So my wildlife expert has come close to shore and I've asked him to look at what I thought
was bear prints, and I'm not an expert. And you reckon they are, don't you? That's what I was
saying. They're really close to Wye Wagon, which is just there between the trees. Yeah, there's the
claws. It's heavy, but there's also big claws at the end of the end of the toes. Yeah, that has to
be bear. Loved that campsite, didn't we, Babs? Yeah, it was great. It was brilliant. Oh, gosh.
So the moment has come. I've been dreading this. We're going to share a very personal moment while
we were still in. Where were we? In Tennessee, weren't we? In Tennessee, yes. So we came across
a really unusual bean factory. Who knew? But inside of there, there was an ability to weigh
yourself. So we break the scales, didn't we, Babs? We did. Oh, check this out. We were driving along
and saw that massive baked bean tin and thought, what's that? And it turns out it's like the bush
canning factory. It's like a little museum, and it's got a really good little shop in it as well.
So we're just going to have a little look. It's right on the roadside. So if you're sort of like
passing by, you can come in. It's completely free. And they don't mind you coming in and having a
little look around. But it does the history of where they started off canning beans. Look at it.
It's really interesting. It's brilliant. Big, massive bean. How brilliant this is.
So you can weigh yourself in beans. And the bush beans truck weighs, what's that, two million?
Right. OK. Gary's going to get on it. Let's see. Drum roll, please. Gary, could you get on the
scales? Let's see how much you weigh in beans. Oh, that's quite light, Babs. 189,200 beans.
I quite like that as a weight loss method. Do you? I don't know if I dare get on.
Now I'm going to have to jump on it. I haven't weighed myself since we came away. It's been
two months. And I know I've put on a bit of weight, so I'm dreading this. So let's see
how much I'm weighing on the scales. What was I, about 140? You were not 140. I was.
No, you weren't, Gary. So I'm 160, 800. Oh, gosh, I think I'm about 40,000.
Like beans too many. Babe, we need to cut down. You know, we've got to get some bean off.
So needless to say, we now need to get a little bit of bean off, don't we, Babs?
Oh, my goodness. But it won't be this week, because this week it will be my birthday. I
will be the big five four. So we're heading to Canada and we're going to spend my birthday in
Niagara, something that we both really fancy doing, don't we? Yeah. That's what's coming up
in next week's show. So if you haven't hit that subscribe, give it a push. If you haven't
rung that bell, give it a ding-a-ling. Have a fantastic week, everyone. Whatever you do,
look after yourselves. We'll see you next time. Love you loads. Take care. Bye.
