Are you ready for some Christmas in July ideas and inspiration? Well,
let's go ahead and get started. If you love the look of old worn age books, but can't find any
in your area, I'm going to show you how to take newer books and make them look old. All you got
to do is grab some sandpaper and sand your books down. Sometimes you can get the wording completely
off the spine, but I just try to get it where it's not quite readable, especially on this one,
because we're going to put something else on the spine. So you can see now how they have a
much more distressed age look. I do find it works better on fabric books. If you can find ones like
that. This is my personal favorite transfer. It's tinsel, a gold gilded transfer, and is
absolutely beautiful. It's gold foil transferred onto your piece. As you can see, I've been
using this one a lot. I love the music notes. So I'm going to cut this one into strips.
It is the perfect size to put on the binding of books. So you're just going to use it like a
normal transfer, take off the backer, put it on your piece, grab your transfer stick,
and it just comes right off. And it is this shiny gold foil. And y'all know that I love
white and gold for Christmas. And then when you put it on these darker reds and greens,
it just looks absolutely amazing. The binding is looking great. But I do want to add something to
the front of this book. This transfer does have lots of labels and other elements that would look
great. But I just thought the wording from the music sheet paper will look perfect on the front
of this book. Y'all I just can't get enough of this transfer. I love how you can get these shiny
gold images on here. I think it is just absolutely amazing. And I just want to embellish this book a
little bit more with a little jute twine and some brass bales that I had in my stash and just a
little bit of greenery. This was a fun, easy project with an absolutely beautiful result.
I love the way this looks and will fit in perfectly with my Christmas decor.
Now is it Christmas in July without a Christmas in July sale? No. So I am having one for y'all.
All of the IOD stamps, transfer, and molds, the Christmas collection is all 25% off as well as
all of the beautiful Christmas florals that I have on my website juliesdesignsandsigns.com.
It's all 25% off, no code needed, discount taken at checkout, and it ends at the end of July. So
go grab all of these Christmas in July goodies before they sell out. I found these coffee filters
at the Goodwill bins. I thought they were vintage coffee filters, but apparently you can purchase
them in this color and I love the way they look. I took a foam ball out of my stash and this
beautiful brown velvet ribbon that I ordered on Amazon. I cut off a piece and I'm going to create
a loop at the top of my foam ball. Then I'm going to take my coffee filters. I'm going to fold them
over a few times and then I'm going to hot glue the point to the foam ball. I'm going to continue
this process and go around the entire foam ball until it is completely covered. I wanted to add
a little bit of greenery. This is the Siberian hanging bush that is available on my website and
I think the colors go perfectly with all of the brown tones I have here. So I'm going to pull off
a few sprigs of this greenery and I'm going to hot glue it where that brown velvet ribbon is.
I think that added the little extra detail it needed for it to be Christmas decor and not
year-round decor. I love how that ball came out so much that I decided to look through my stash
and see what else I had on hand that I could use to create something else with these coffee filters.
Of course you could add them to a foam wreath and that would look beautiful with some velvet
ribbon to hang it, but I was just trying to come up with different ideas. So I grabbed this round
piece of foam and folded over the coffee filters, gluing them down until the entire piece was
covered. I grabbed some more of that brown velvet ribbon and I glued it to the back of the foam
piece to create a hanger. I have this ceramic Santa head in my stash. It has a very vintage
look to it. I think it was an ornament at one time, but it is the perfect size to put right in
the center of this piece. It looks great as is, but I think a little bit of greenery always takes
things to the next level. You could take your velvet ribbon and put it all the way on the edge
of this foam, but it's not going to show so I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just going to
hot glue some greenery down and call this piece finished. These pieces go so well in my bedroom
with all of the different brown tones I already have in there. They're the perfect size just to
hang on a hook or this little ball I just hung on the side of this little decorative chair right
here and then I added a little Christmas pillow. So I am totally in love with the way these came
out. I feel like it pairs perfectly with the vintage style decor I have in my house, but y'all
leave a comment below. Let me know what you think about this project. I purchased these rusty
roller skates at a flea market and I knew as soon as I saw the red leather straps that they would
be a perfect Christmas decor. I want them to hang so I'm going to be adding some lace. Now you can
use string, you can use velvet ribbon, you can use Christmas ribbon, whatever will go with your
style of decor. I thought lace would be really pretty so I'm going to tie it to each of the
skates so that way they can hang. I added a lace bow in a different color and I grabbed a sprig
of the cypress hanging greenery and I'm going to add that to the top of my piece and all of
these accessories are easy to change out if next year I decide to go with a totally different color
scheme. And as you can see they look great hanging on a hook. They look perfect in my decor. I always
like adding a little bit of rusty crusty in my Christmas decor. It's Christmas, we need a sale!
So I will also be having a Christmas in July would-not-sale. Everything you see behind me
and more will be in my next would-not-sale. It is going to be Friday at 11 a.m central
standard time and if you have no clue what would-not is, now is the time to check it out. We are getting
into the Christmas season and I can tell y'all last year I did almost all of my Christmas shopping
on would-not. There's so many unique amazing gift ideas over there. So it is an app where all day
long they have different auctions going on. Anything and everything you could be interested
in, I promise 24-7 there is an auction going on. So if you're brand new to would-not, make sure you
use the link in my description or scan the QR code on the screen because you're gonna get a $15
credit to use on would-not. And this is gonna be a great sale to come to because, spoiler, there might
be some flash sales. So y'all come check it out. I will see y'all over on would-not. I know y'all get
these Amazon bags at your house, maybe even on a daily basis, but no judgment here. But I'm gonna
show y'all something y'all can do to upcycle them and reuse them. The first thing you want to do is
flip it inside out and if any of your red edges have ripped open, just glue them back together
with some hot glue. You can paint your whole bag if you want it, but I personally don't mind a brown
paper bag look, so I'm gonna go with it. But the top did still have some Amazon labeling in it. This
is Dixie Bell chalk paint in the color rustic red and I'm just gonna put one quick coat on here.
This is holiday stamps. It's called Frosty's Sweet Shop. You get these cute little snowmen
along with a little sign, some greenery, and some candy canes. I'm taking the Frosty's Sweet Shop
sign and some holiday red ink. That's some ink I made myself. So if you didn't know, you can actually
mix the IOD ink. So this was the tomato red with some black to create a deeper red color, almost
like the rustic red Dixie Bell chalk paint that I used on the top. It's almost the exact same color.
So I'm gonna ink this up and I'm going to stamp our brown paper bag. That came out great and I
love how it has just a natural distressed look to it. Now all of your stamps come with a mask and
this is how you layer your stamps. So I want to put a little snowman behind the Frosty's Sweet Shop
sign. So I'll put a mask over the sign. I'm going to ink up just the top of my snowman because that's
the only part I'm going to be stamping. And what's going to happen is any part of the stamp that I
want behind the sign is going to go on the mask. So it looks like the snowman is behind the sign.
So if you haven't tried layering your stamps, it's as easy as this. Next step is to add a little
string to hang our bag. I have thrifted so many hole punchers and for some reason I can never find
one when I need one. So I'm just using the end of a scissors and this is some of that wired jute twine
that you can get from a Dollar Tree. I'm just going to take that and twist it around each side.
Since you probably already have some of these supplies at your home, I feel like this is
something you could have a lot of fun with and do a bunch of different bags. Maybe even use these
bags to wrap some of your Christmas presents. I think that could be a really fun idea and you
could even get your kids involved. I have no shortage of these pretty little glass salt and
pepper shakers and I'm sure you've seen the DIYs where people turn these into little winter and
Christmas snowmen, but that is not what I'm going to do. I'm going to remove the top of these
and let me let y'all guess what I'm going to do with these. Of course I'm going to grab a
bottle brush tree and I'm going to glue these to the top. I'm using hot glue but this will be easy
to get off with the heat gun so maybe next year I'll do the little snowman DIY. The lids were
way too cute and too pretty not to use as well so I actually had some smaller bottle brush trees
that fit perfectly inside of them. Look at this sweetness. This is absolutely adorable.
These look beautiful in my home. I'm thinking that I also should maybe thrift some glass
vases like bud vases and I think that'd be really pretty in different areas of my home
with bigger bottle brush trees. I know all of y'all have a sign like this in your stash or you
see them all the time at the thrift store. Go ahead and grab them because you can use them for
so many different projects. Today I'm going to be using the IOD lock and key mode. I am going to go
ahead and paint it. I'm using I want to be brown so I'm using fusion paint in the color chocolate.
I'm just going to give it one quick coat and to get these pieces I use the aluminide fast
casting resin and the IOD lock and key mode and you can find all of these products on my website.
My pieces are brown and dry so I am going to add them to my what sign and what I'm going to do is
I am going to put them biggest to smallest to create a cute little Christmas tree. If you've
ever seen the spindle Christmas trees it's kind of a take on that but this one you can paint and
make it whatever style you love for Christmas. So I like white and and I also like wood that's why
I painted the resin castings in brown first and now I'm going to paint everything with a coat of
Dixie Belle chalk paint in the color fluff but not the frame. If you have a good brush that you can
cut in it's pretty easy not to get any paint on your frame. Now I'm going to wet distress the
lock and key mode to bring back some of that brown color and while it brought it back it wasn't quite
the look I was going for. I wanted them to look a little bit more like wood so I took the Dixie
Belle Van Dyke glaze and I just put it on top very carefully and wiped off the excess and that was
more the look I was going for. I wanted it to kind of tie in to the wood frame that is already on the
piece. I like the way this piece came out but I feel like this is a project you could really get
creative with and do in so many different ways. Different color palettes, you could put it on
different backgrounds, different textures so definitely try this one out. Here is another
idea for your green and red books for Christmas. You have probably seen this already but I'm going
to show you just how easy it is to create. Grab your red and green books in several different
sizes and stack them largest to smallest. I use a brass candlestick for my base but any candlestick
you have on hand will work and this is definitely a very unique piece of home decor. I always pick
up these metal cheese graters when I find them at the thrift store especially if they have a little
rust on them. You can just add them to your decor, you can hang them on your wall upside down with a
tea towel or some greenery. For this one we're going to turn it into a piece of Christmas decor.
To get started I'm going to take the string and hot glue it to the back of the cheese grater and
that'll just keep everything in place and then I'm going to take my string and I'm going to start
weaving it in and out through the holes creating a triangle shape and then once I have my triangle
shape I started going from one side to the other and then after I did that I started doing it in a
zigzag pattern. I really didn't have a plan I figured I'd just keep weaving it in and out until I had
the look that I wanted so you can do it however you would like. Once my Christmas tree was done I
felt like it needed a star so why not a rusty star? I felt like that would go perfect with this
cheese grater so I cut this one off of this garland and hot glued it to the top of my yarn Christmas tree.
Now this is a fun piece of Christmas decor and you could really get creative with this
especially if you are better at stitching than me. You could use different colored yarns do
different patterns I don't know I feel like the possibilities are endless and you could find
different cheese graters and just do a whole collection of these. Here's a little seed starter
set no I'm not going to be bringing this home and growing anything but I love these little pots
and I have a fun idea for them. I'm going to show you how to make your very own decoupage paper
using this regular white gift wrapping tissue paper and IOD stamps. This is the classical
Christmas stamp as part of the IOD limited release holiday collection and like it says in
the title it is classic Christmas this stuff will never go out of style. I'm going to be using this
pretty long piece with laurels and hollies in it and I'm going to be using the China blue ink. I
love blue and white all year long and I feel like people are really loving it this year for Christmas
so what I'm going to do is I'm going to stamp this same stamp over and over again to create my own
custom decoupage paper. How cool is that and you could do this with any stamp and if you want to
stamp on a curved surface this is a great hack. You just stamp on tissue paper and then decoupage
it to your surface makes it so much easier. So now I'm going to take the fusion decoupage gel
and I'm going to apply it to the bottom of the pot. I'm going to take my custom decoupage paper
and I'm just going to wrap it around the entire pot. I cut it out a lot bigger so that way I'd
have plenty of room to work with. You're going to get a few wrinkles and stuff but that's just you
know the look you're going for when you're decoupaging and then I'm just going to cut off
all of the excess. To finish off the bottom of the pot I just added some more decoupage gel and
folded the tissue paper over. To neatly trim off the excess at the top of the pot where I want the
natural color to show through and I did not put decoupage medium there I'm going to take some
sandpaper and just lightly sand it and this gives me a very natural edge. I feel like this is the
easiest way to trim off your excess paper when you're decoupaging. All right let's create a
little vignette. I actually thrifted this little basket today and it is going to be the perfect
piece for this area. I'm going to style it with some blue books to tie into the blue on the pieces
that we made. Of course we need a white pot and a Christmas tree that I thrifted from the Goodwill
bins. Here's the pot that I made and I loved it so much I made some more tissue paper to put on
the inside with the Christmas tree and I am loving that look as well and no French country
vignette is complete without a cute little lamb. I love the way this came out and as you can see
this whole setup looks so good in my home. I'm feeling like I could definitely go with a blue
and white theme for Christmas. I never pass up these little tartlet tins and if you like a rusty
crusty look like me these are so easy to rust. All you do is soak them in a little toilet bowl
cleaner and it gives you this really amazing look and it doesn't take long about 24 hours and you
are good to go. I thought these would make really cute little bases for bottle brush trees. They
definitely look a lot better than the bases that come with them. It is super easy to just snip them
off with some wire cutters and then I'm going to hot glue them into the tartlet tins. Now these
are metal so if you wanted to reuse these at the end of the season it is very easy to get the hot
glue off with a heat gun. So in the spring you can add a bird's nest to them. Christmas time they get a
tree, spring they get a bird's nest. These came out so precious. I just put them in my existing decor.
They match perfectly but I think you could also add a ribbon to the top of these and use them as
Christmas ornaments. I went through my stash to see what other kind of rusty crusties we could
Christmas trees in. I found these old ball jar lids that have just been sitting around and we
have got to use them because they are way too cool. So I grabbed a bottle brush tree and I'm
hot gluing it to the lid to keep it in place but again this would be very easy to remove with a
heat gun. This looks perfect in my decor and if you already decorate and collect ball jars
I feel like this would look amazing in your home for Christmas. Here's some Christmas ornaments.
I love the shape of these and I actually have an idea so I'm gonna grab a few of them.
I have the Christmas ornaments from the goodwill bins and I also grabbed some cut off spindles from
my stash as well as some wooden finials. If you don't have spindles and the tools to cut them with
then these finials are going to be perfect for you. It's so much easier to put them together. I
just put a little hot glue and then I put the ornament onto the screw and that was done. For
these for the spindles what I did was I grabbed a drill bit that was the same size as the ornament
hole and I drilled a hole. You could just hot glue it if you didn't want to do this step but since I
had the tools I just thought this was a much cleaner look. So I drilled the hole added a little
bit of hot glue and then put the ornament in it. I also ended up finding this salt and pepper
shaker in my stash and it had a hole in it so I thought that would also be another good option. So
any wooden pieces that have a hole or a screw in it you can use for this project without having
to cut spindles down. I want to paint just the plastic ornaments. I'm going to be using fusion
all-in-one paint. This is the color Algonquin. It's kind of like a light brown. I'm also going
to be using cast iron which is a off black color and I'm going to be using carriage house which is
a beautiful green color. This was a quick and easy paint job. One coat of paint and these pieces were
done. These three colors really go very well together. Next I'm going to take Dixie Bell
wax in the color white and I'm going to add white wax to the entire piece. So the plastic ornament
that I painted and even the wood finial or spindle and this is just going to tie everything together.
So I'm going to cover the entire piece with white wax and then I'm going to take a dry paper towel
and wipe off all of the excess and I'm going to show you the before and afters of with white wax
and without white wax in each color and I think the white wax definitely just brings out all of
the details in each piece. To clean it up I'm going to take some white string and glue it in
between the ornament and the wood piece and this is just inspiration guys. You could take this
and make it in your own way. You could do different paint colors, different string, maybe even some
velvet ribbon. That would be pretty. So I love for you to take this idea and run with it. I want to add
a hanger to these so I cut off a small piece of ribbon and I'm just going to hot glue it to the
bottom of my spindles and then for the finials I just took the same twine that I had put at the top
and I just tied it around the bottom. So there's an option to hang if you would like to. I added
a red book with gold and black accents to my coffee table, a large wooden bowl and then I put
some of the I'm going to call them finial ornaments in the bowl and I also hung some on the tree.
Obviously you would want to put them on a bigger tree but I just wanted to show y'all what they
look like hanging and of course you can hang them on a hook. You can put them in different areas of
your home. I really like how these came out. I think these colors look so great together. I can't
wait to make some more of these. They were so much fun and I really can't wait to see what y'all do
with this idea. For this project I grabbed this cone shaped floral foam from the dollar tree and
this is some green yarn that I thrifted at the goodwill bins and I hot glued a piece of the yarn
to the floral cone and I just started wrapping it. I'm not trying to make it look perfect. I'm not
thinking about it too much. I'm just going to keep wrapping it until the entire cone is covered
with this green yarn. Then I grabbed a larger tartlet tin and it was the perfect size for this
cone. So I added hot glue to the bottom and pushed it into the tartlet tin. This already looks
adorable but we're going to take it to the next level because I had a star cookie cutter. It's the
same color as the tartlet tin so this is going to look perfect on top of my little Christmas tree.
Oh my gosh is this not the cutest? I feel like this idea is something you could have lots of fun
with and do in lots of different ways. So if you have any more ideas drop them in the comments.
