Back on this windy night, that is Garford Steer!
Right into the Chicago wind, and the Reds ahead 4-1.
Did we mention that Spencer Steer comes up big in big spots?
That's a second consecutive at-bat.
He's done exactly that.
For the eighth inning,
Steer swings, sends a long fly ball.
Well hit, deep left, hat back at the Ivy.
It's gone!
A three-run home run!
Spencer Steer, and the Reds have a 4-1 lead.
Kittredge hung a slider right down the heart of the plate,
and Spencer Steer did not miss it.
The 2-1.
And Steer with a three-run homer,
and the Reds have a 4-1 advantage.
In that time, he did make a mistake with the slider.
After making so many quality pitches,
that slider left up and out over the heart of the plate.
Spencer Steer with the home run.
Now the 2-1.
Steer hits a high fly ball, deep left, going back half
at the track near the wall.
He looks up. It's gone.
A three-run home run for Spencer Steer,
and the Reds move ahead 4-1 over the Cubs here in the 7th.
Now a breaking ball, and we were talking about him
pitching right around the edges of the strike zone.
This last one, unfortunately not so much,
as this pitch stays right in the middle of the plate,
maybe outer half, but Steer stays right on it,
and he didn't miss it, hit about three rows deep
and left center.
A 377-foot drive for Spencer Steer.
And we were talking about how dangerous it was
in this situation, 377 feet to the left.
