🌙 Key Lesson of the Story:
“When it’s time to act, don’t wait—because opportunities won’t wait for you.”
Brody learned that being slow or inactive at the wrong time—especially when it’s time to take care of yourself—can leave you behind. Listening to wise advice and being ready to act helps you grow, become independent, and take care of yourself.
It's a gentle reminder for kids that:
• Being active and alert at the right time is important.
• Laziness can sometimes lead to missing out.
• Growing up means learning when to move, even if it’s hard.

Brody the Inactive Cow
Once upon a time, on a peaceful little farm surrounded by rolling hills,
there lived a small cow named Brody. Brody was soft, spotted, and very cuddly.
But he had one little problem. He was inactive.
While all the other animals—sheep, goat, chicken, and pig—loved to run and play and munch on grass,
Brody preferred to lie close to his mama and take long, slow naps.
He didn't hurry for anything—not even food.
But one day, Mama Cow had some big news.
Brody, she said gently, I have to go to the next farm for a few days. You'll be on your own.
Brody's ears drooped. But I don't want to be alone.
You'll be fine, Mama Cow nuzzled him. Just remember, when it's time to eat, be quick.
The other animals won't wait, and there may be no food left if you're too slow.
Brody nodded, but secretly, he wasn't really listening.
The next morning, the sun rose bright and warm.
The farmer opened the gates and shouted, Off to the forest for breakfast, everyone!
All the animals ran out. Sheep bounced, goat leapt, chicken flapped, and pig wiggled with joy.
But Brody yawned. He stretched. Then he sat down in the grass and thought, I'll go in a minute.
A long while later, Brody finally wandered into the forest.
But something was wrong. There was no food left.
The berries were picked. The grass was nibbled. Even the crunchy leaves had been chewed away.
The forest was silent, except for the wind and Brody's rumbling tummy.
Brody sat down, very hungry and very sad. He remembered what Mama Cow had told him.
Be more active when it's time for eating.
That night, Brody lay under the stars, his tummy empty, but his heart full of understanding.
And from that day on, Brody was never inactive again.
When it was time to eat, he was the first one up, trotting with the others,
smiling wide and ready to munch. He still loved his naps, of course,
but he always made sure to eat first. And when Mama Cow came back,
she gave him a proud smile and a big hug. You've grown up, Brody, she said.
And Brody moved softly, happy and full. Good night.
