There was something special about him.
Can you say, hello?
Hello.
Are you going to smile?
Within the first two weeks of him being born, he was smiling.
Around the six month mark is when he started going to things in books.
And by nine months, he could tell you colors, shapes, and not just like, you know, circle.
It was like parallelogram.
By 10 months and 11 months, he was like sorting complex shapes, colors, numbers.
And it was about the 14 month mark.
That's when things really exploded.
He was speaking in multiple word sentences.
He could identify numbers like 1 to 20.
He knew the entire alphabet.
So 3 times 3 equals how many?
He's really super into, obviously, space and math.
I think it's made out of hydrogen and helium.
The center of our Milky Way galaxy.
Do you know what it's called?
Sparkles!
Jupiter.
That's Jupiter.
How do you know it's Jupiter?
It's a star.
That's crazy.
What is it made out of?
Hydrogen sulfide.
Hydrogen sulfide, yeah.
Oh, whoa!
It's always following his lead.
Through age-appropriate activities that are fun and don't feel formal and forced.
It just kind of happens out of nowhere where he picks up this stuff and remembers it after seeing it once.
What is it?
It's minor.
Is it minor?
Why is it minor?
Because it's...
Sad.
Yeah.
Can you show me a happy one?
Which one's happy?
Yeah, your face is happy.
What song?
Show me a happy song on the piano.
And what key is this in?
Yeah, what's it called?
Major!
Yeah!
We do a lot of math games.
We watch a lot of YouTube videos together on pretty much anything physics, science-related.
We read a lot of books.
Good job.
We're very creative at home. We do a lot of experiments.
We do a lot of arts and crafts.
Exploring age-appropriate things for him.
There's some fear and some stress of, like, number one,
what am I going to do when it comes to school age stuff?
What's 32 plus 32?
Four!
What's your answer?
He's three years old and he's pretty much performing at, like, a grade two, grade three math level.
And so...
Good job, Elliot!
I wait to put him into school.
When he goes to school at six and he's doing the stuff that he's been doing for three years,
how will he fit into school?
Will it isolate him?
I worry about his well-being and him being happy all the time, just as we all mothers do.
I just think that this makes me think so much more about the future.
Gifted is a really special loaded word.
I don't know if I should be labeling it as such,
because I don't know if people are going to think I'm a braggy mom,
if I'm, you know, pushing him, because that's a huge, huge thing.
People always are like, oh, let them be kids, you're pushing them.
It's not about pushing them, it's, like, all about following their lead.
And most of the time, these kids, they want to do this stuff.
I just want to make them happy, and this stuff makes them happy.
And I just want them to be supported, just like any other kid would.
What is 60 plus 60?
120.
Well done, Papa!
Elliot is the most emotionally aware and kind kid.
And he's just such a good balance of, like, emotional and super sensitive, nerdy and hilarious.
Okay, so what happens when you eat? Where does it go first?
Yeah.
Yeah, sure does, man, sure does.
I love him so much. We laugh so much together.
And what about your muscular system?
I get...
Too strong.
Yeah.
It's not about being a neurosurgeon, it's not about being an astronaut.
You know, Elliot could knit sweaters, or he could literally yodel for a living.
I don't care what he does with his life, as long as he understands himself.
As long as he accepts who he is, he's proud of who he is.
I'm so proud.
It feels like he has support and community around him.
That's my husband and my biggest goal.
Infinity!
I love you no matter what. You know that, right?
No matter how much you know about black holes, I love you no matter how much you get right or wrong or anything.
Do you know that?
No.
I love you more than Jupiter.
I love you more than an ultramassive black hole.
You love me more than an ultramassive black hole?
Yeah.
Okay, that's wild.
