Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts.
How to not get ripped off when buying new windows.
Let's talk about that.
Step number one, not getting ripped off is going to be, make sure you get multiple quotes.
Please do not go with the first person who comes into your house and sells you windows
and especially, do not go with the person who's coming in and saying, hey, we got this
discount, we have this discount, if you buy today or right now, one call close is what
they call it.
They go into your house, they want to tell you how great the window is and what it's
coming with.
Let's just say you got 10 windows and one patio door and they come in and they say,
hey, 20 grand.
But then they're like, well listen, listen, listen, let's see if we can get you a discount.
Are you a senior citizen?
Yes.
Okay, we'll give you a senior citizen discount.
Oh, you're law enforcement?
Let's give you a law enforcement discount.
What if I go out and I call my manager, see if we can do a smoking deal, if we could come
up with this, would you sign today?
So car sales, I hate it, but it's a real thing.
They're not going to get to a point where they're going to be in the red for themselves.
They're always going to be above that.
They're always going to be in the green.
So that's ballooning the price and then dropping it knowing that they're going to do that anyway.
So just be cautious about those types of salespeople.
I've gotten, you know, responses, you know, from probably salespeople who've seen my videos
and they hate it.
Stop making these videos.
Obviously I'm not going to stop because I am an educator.
I want to help the consumer, the end user who's window shopping.
As long as you're doing those, you know, two, three quotes, I usually say three, you can
even do four if you don't mind people coming over to your house and being there for a couple
of hours.
All right.
But definitely make sure that you're asking the right questions.
Make sure apples to apples, right?
Don't get a wood window quote.
Don't get a vinyl window and go, well, what?
You know, it's got to be vinyl to vinyl, wood to wood, steel to steel.
You get my drift.
So the other thing about not getting ripped off is going to be not just the purchase price
itself, but also how it gets installed.
You want to make sure that, well, not only did you have a good experience with the salesperson,
you also want to make sure that you have a good experience with the install.
You can totally get ripped off.
Maybe they're not using the right caulking.
Maybe they installed it improperly.
Maybe they measured too much and started ripping parts of your window frame out and installed
it after destroying part of your original window or the framing or the stucco.
List goes on and on.
So you want to make sure that whoever you're doing business with, they have a great reputation.
If they don't have a great reputation, but they give you a good price, do you think that's
going to be a good situation for you in the future?
I'd bet against it.
Not only is the price, you know, comfortable for you, but you also want to make sure that
the end result is what you were hoping for or expecting.
All right, guys, make it a great day.
