VIETNAM diaries 🇻🇳 4 days in da nang itineray, hoi an day trip, local eats, ba na hills + prices

It's Malia and today is our first full day in Vietnam. We're staying in Da Nang right now which is in central Vietnam and it's kind of more coastal. We're right by the beach so we're really excited to kick off the first leg of our 10-day trip here. We finally got some good sleep last night. I think we slept for like eight to nine hours after our almost damn near like 28-30 hour travel day. In the last video, I took you all along during that travel day but it was so long because we essentially went from SFO 13-hour flight to Taipei for our first layover and then we took a three-hour flight to Ho Chi Minh. Our layover was essentially almost like five six hours and then we took a one-hour flight and finally made it to Da Nang. So we're getting ready to head out right now. We're gonna go get some food but then we're actually gonna head to Hoi An today and check out that area first. I heard it's very popular and it gives a lot of like old Vietnam town vibes so I'm really excited to see that. Hopefully, we can get some clothes tailored as well. I'm just really excited to finally be on this trip, finally be able to think about this trip. It's just been so crazy outside of it so I'm just finally happy to be here to enjoy the moment with our friends. It's also the very first time we are on an international trip with our friends, Chydie and Tracy, so really excited to be on this trip with them but let's get the day started. This is our hotel room too. It's kind of messy. If you want to see a hotel tour, go check out my last video. Do you feel God? Good morning! It's day two of our trip. We're currently at Mbana Hills which is about like an hour and a half from Da Nang. We came to see God's Hand. It's a very popular attraction here and it was really cool and also very fitting because it's technically Easter today so I thought it was very fitting to go see God's Hand on Easter and this area is also really cool because there's also kind of like a amusement park up here. Our ticket included not just being able to see the God's Hand but also all the other attractions in this area so we're gonna walk around a little, look at all the other things, eat some food. Our ticket included a buffet that's in the area so yeah we're just gonna have a great day and then head back down to Da Nang and hopefully see the beach later. We haven't seen the beach yet and that's a reason why we picked Da Nang as one of our cities to hit here in Vietnam. We really wanted to see the coastal side so hopefully we get to see the beach later today. It's a great day so far, still hot, not as hot as yesterday yet but a great great day. We outside! We outside! Xin chào! Come on, come on! How do you squat? still very beautiful up here. We're gonna try to find some shade maybe even though we've been eating all day. We're gonna be here until hopefully three or four because we have to wait for the boy's to finish. It's so hot. It's so beautiful at the same time but I also can't function right now. I'll go with you. We just got back from Hoi An. I feel like I didn't vlog too much because honestly it was so hot. We were all dying and we're kind of just over the day because it was just too hot for me. I don't know. I feel like I couldn't think about anything. No thoughts in my brain because I was just suffering in the heat but after we went to the final fitting for the boy's suits we pretty much got out of there because we we just could not take it anymore. I don't know. I think the heat was really getting to us today but we're back in Da Nang. The boys are gonna get their suits delivered today so hopefully we will have them by the time we leave to Ho Chi Minh tomorrow but I just want to do a quick haul of all things that I bought so far on this trip. I haven't bought too much just because I want to save most of my shopping for Ho Chi Minh. I feel like there's a lot more boutiques and clothes and like trinkets that I want to buy over there. I didn't get too much so far. I got this little Snoopy crocheted keychain and that was so cute. You know, I love Snoopy so I decided to get this just so that we could get a discount because Tracy got two so I wanted to get us a little discount so we added this third one. To continue the Snoopy train I got this Snoopy PJ set. I think it's shorts. I thought it was so cute. Okie though, the Snoopy looks kind of off. I don't know why he looks like that. He looks kind of mad but it's still really cute and we got a discount because Tracy and I got one each. I got my dad some coffee beans. This one's for my dad because he loves coffee so this is a souvenir we got for ourselves. Hazelnut drip bag. It's like a disposable drip bag type of coffee and then we got these instant coconut coffees. We didn't try this brand but we were seeing it all over so I think it's a popular one. Mr. Viet. Got a set of cute magnets. Some are for us. This cute kind of like dark cherry bag slash tote. I like it because of how long it is. A very unique type of tote. It's kind of like my coach one but a little longer and I love the red so that's why I got this. This was almost 340 bucks so not too bad. Not too bad. And the last thing I got at another gift store in Hoi An were some postcards and then some more magnets. These two are super cute. Can't wait to put these on our fridge. I got a little pin. Okay I'm a little lazy to unwrap this but we got a little buddha. We'll put this somewhere in our house but that's pretty much what we bought so far. Like I said, I didn't want to buy too much just yet because I know we're gonna shop more in Ho Chi Minh. I feel like I'm just so drained from the day, from the heat. We're gonna rest up a little. Maybe go to the beach or maybe go to our Airbnbs pool. It has been a great trip so far. I'm really sad it's our last full day in Da Nang but I'm really excited to go see Ho Chi Minh tomorrow. So yeah we're just gonna try and enjoy our last night here but Vietnam has been treating us very well so far. So it's been a great time. Oh We were not expecting that and I'm just gonna do a quick story time because I have to because it was a absolute fever dream today. Basically after we checked out we headed to the airport in Da Nang and tell me why on the way our grab got hit by a motorcycle. We literally saw the motorcycle coming from the side and we were like oh he's pretty close and next thing you know we just heard him hit the back of our driver's van and we literally stopped in the middle of the roundabout and the two were just going at it. We could tell the driver was hella mad and I wouldn't say it was too bad of a hit and the motorcyclist was thankfully okay and not injured too. And I saw him coming in hella hot. When your grab got hit by a motorcycle. Best case scenario, no one got hurt. We didn't get hurt. The motorcyclists did not get hurt but we were just in the middle of the roundabout. Everyone is driving around us and honking and the two were kind of going at it and then maybe after like 10 minutes the driver took the motorcyclist's driver's license and I think just told him like we're gonna deal with this after I drop off these people to the airport and we were literally only four minutes away from the airport. That was that fiasco. He dropped us off and we made it to the airport but then tell me why when we got to the airport we saw a long ass line at the check-in counters and we were just like oh my god but we had a feeling the lines would be long because the line going to Da Nang at Ho Chi Minh's airport was already long so we didn't really mind the line because we had about like two hours until our flight anyway but maybe after like 20-30 minutes of waiting in line we heard one of the airline workers saying if you're going to Ho Chi Minh talk to me talk to me and then I went up to her and said oh we're going to Ho Chi Minh and then she said okay follow me and then she kind of had us and a group of other people also going to Ho Chi Minh pretty much cut the line and go to the front to check in and then when I followed up with her I'm like oh are we checking in already she said yes did you change your flight and I looked at her like why would I change my flight and she said oh because your original flight is delayed so you need to change it and I told her well I didn't know I had to do this and then she basically took us to another counter and then they changed our flights and they said okay we changed your flights your flight now is 1 10 and we looked at the clock and tell me why we were like it's 12 what do you mean our flight is 1 10 and they said go check in now they're boarding and we were just like wait what so then whatever we went to the counter we checked in our bags and then they basically said go run run they're boarding and we said okay and then the security line was hella long and then I tried going to like the priority security line saying like um our flight's gonna leave in like five minutes and they said nope you have to wait in the regular line so they waited in another line for like 10-15 minutes and this whole time we were like we're missing this flight that we didn't know we were supposed to change to and it was just so crazy and so hectic and basically we went through the whole security line and then we ran to our gate and we thankfully boarded and I don't know that was just crazy like just all of these series of events that had happened and I think they were doing this to almost every single person who had like a later Ho Chi Minh flight they just moved everyone onto this earlier flight because of delays and because everyone on that flight once we boarded were like asking the flight attendants this is going to Ho Chi Minh right I think our airlines just I don't know did a whole switcheroo on a bunch of people and basically put a bunch of people on an earlier flight that did not exist but then they created because of a delay so if you're gonna travel domestically in Vietnam I don't think I would recommend Vietjet go with Vietnam Airlines please I don't think I will fly with Vietjet again and then to top it all off on this crazy day because we're not done yet we finally get to Saigon we got all of our luggages thankfully nothing was left behind and then we ordered a van to take us to our Airbnb and originally it was only going to be like a 30 to 40 minute drive and it turned into three hours because we had just found this out a few days ago but Vietnam is celebrating reunification day in about a week and so many roads were being blocked off the second we were about to turn into them like I kid you not we were following the navigation every single road we were trying to turn into government officials kept blocking them right on the spot and our 40 minute drive to the Airbnb took three hours we had dinner reservations I had to cancel them and I don't know it was just a crazy crazy travel day that we did not expect and we endured but we are now here officially in our Airbnb in Saigon and we are just going to freshen up process everything that has happened today and hopefully finally start the second leg of our Vietnam trip I can't believe that all just happened today we're not gonna let this put a damper on the rest of our trip we're so excited to be here I'm very excited to be here I've been really looking forward to finally getting to see Saigon and I just wanted to share that little story time with you because I kid you not you wouldn't believe the day we had I don't even believe the day we had but we made it and we're just gonna enjoy our trip but cheers to part two of our Vietnam trip I think I'm gonna end the vlog here if you tuned in to this video I hope you did enjoy seeing our first leg of the trip in Da Nang and Hoi An I hope you enjoyed it we'll see you in the next vlog as we experience Saigon bye everyone I can't believe that happened
