What is the BEST choice of broadhead for CROSSBOWS?
Hi, I'm Chris with Afflictor Broadheads, and today we're going to talk a little bit about
what is the best choice of broadhead for your crossbow. There's a million choices for broadheads
for crossbows, and there's really a lot of crossbow choices as well. So how do you know
what you want to shoot? Well, a lot of it just boils down to personal preference. What do you
want to shoot? Do you want to go with a fixed head? Do you want to go with a mechanical? Do
you want to go with a hybrid? That just boils down to personal preference. But what the most
important thing is, is do you have the right broadhead for your setup? Is it going to handle
the speed of your crossbow? Is it going to handle your particular arrow setup for your crossbow?
So let's talk a little bit about some different broadheads, and what could be important to you,
and how that would relate to being the best choice for your setup. So on average, we can probably
fairly say that most crossbows are going to be shooting in the 280 to 350 range that are
commonly sold today. Now, there's a huge push right now, of course, for crossbows all the way
up to 470 feet per second and faster, and those have really gained in popularity. And so when you
get to that speed, you're really going to start having a harder time finding a broadhead that
flies right. When I say that is when you're looking at a bow with a short bolt, and these
short power strokes, and you're hitting that bolt like a hammer, and you have all that speed, you
want to make sure that you have a broadhead that's going to be able to fly straight at whatever
distance you plan on shooting. So how do you pick that out? Well, besides reading a lot of reviews
and going through things, you want to find something, of course, that is rated for crossbows
right out of the gate. So you want to find a crossbow broadhead that has a rating specifically
for crossbows. You also want to make sure that you have a broadhead that is going to handle the
weight of your short bolt. With a lot of these bolts being heavyweights now, you don't want to
have a broadhead that is one and done necessarily. Something that you could get a little more use out
of, like a solid fixed blade broadhead. So once you kind of narrow down, if you're going to go with a
hybrid, a fixed, or some type of mechanical, you have to find out if it's going to even fly out of
your crossbow. With the higher speed crossbows, you run into a lot of issues with planing and things
not being so accurate, especially with your field tips. So sometimes you're just going to have to
buy a pack of broadheads and give them a shot and see how they work. Now we have the advancement now
with Facebook and Instagram and YouTube, we can go and watch a lot of videos. So that's probably
a great place to get started. Go ahead and explore, specifically look for what it is you want to shoot
and see how it's, look at the independent testing and see how it performs out of your particular
platform of crossbow at your particular speeds. And that'll help you narrow down. If you're leaning
towards fixed blades for your crossbow, especially in the high speed category, you want to make sure
that you're picking a fixed blade that doesn't have too wide of a cut. Meaning you're giving
yourself more room to have some planing and some accuracy issues downrange. So you want to make
sure that your fixed blade is not going to cause you any problems in flight. Now you may have to
make some slight adjustments to your scope, which shouldn't be any big deal. But if you're having
errant flight and fly off arrows, then you're definitely having an issue with the broadhead
at the front. At Afflictor Broadheads, we designed specifically the K2 fixed four blade for high
speed crossbows. It has an inch and an eighth cut by a one inch secondary blade. And even at the
highest speeds, we're finding that at long ranges, it flies true. And it is an excellent penetrator
as well. So if you're looking for a fixed blade, the Afflictor K2 fixed may be a good option for
you to check out. If you're leaning towards a mechanical or hybrid broadhead, you want to make
sure that you have a good penetrator that's durable and flies great going downrange, which
usually means it needs to have a low profile. At Afflictor, we have a range of hybrid broadheads
that are low profile at only five eighths before they're deployed. At deployment, this particular
model, the K2 mini is an inch and a half cut and becomes a locked fixed blade at entrance. So if
you're looking for a good hybrid choice, check us out. We're good for any of the high speed crossbows.
If you're looking for a great fixed blade choice, check out the K2 fixed. It's truly amazing out of
any of the crossbow platforms. If you have any questions, drop them below or feel free to get
