What up y'all, in this video I'm going to walk you step by step
through the one lip slur exercise that has helped me improve my trumpet range.
So get that horn out of the case and let's get started.
In my warm-up routine I usually do this exercise right after I do long tones
because this is when my chops are the freshest.
Then depending on how my chops feel for that day
I would take a break maybe 5 to 15 minutes before I continue on with the rest of my routine.
So let's play it together, I'll have the music on the screen
but you can also download this exercise by clicking the link down below or up above this video.
Stay to the end of the video, I have some tips that I want to share with you
that will help you be more successful with this exercise.

Alright, that's it for this exercise but here's 3 tips that will allow you to play this exercise better.
Tip number 1, if there's any trouble spots while you play this exercise, buzz on your mouthpiece
a few times with a nice fat sound and try to iron out all those glitches and hiccups.
Then go back to the trumpet and it should be a lot easier.
Tip number 2, play the higher notes quieter than you think.
When we play at a softer dynamic, we train our bodies to play these notes as efficiently as
possible with the right amount of air support and speed, tongue arch, or tongue position.
And tip number 3, in order to prevent playing on fatigued and tired chops,
rest as much as you need to.
Remember that you always want to practice on fresh chops to avoid developing bad habits and injury.
And that's it for this lesson. If you enjoyed this video, please give it a like and share it
with others. Also, don't forget to download this exercise. The link is down below or up
above this video. I just want to say thank you for watching. I'm Aaron, The Black Trumpeter,
and I'll see you in the next video.
