Sanibel shelling: Lightning whelk, murex, tulips, slipper lobster and sting ray!

welcome to another installment of swf beach life today I'm gonna show you another walk from Bowman's to Blind Pass and I just thought I would do this same exact walk and see if we got the same exact results because the last time we got tons of shells it was awesome now this time we started a little bit earlier it's probably a little after 7:00 sunup had just happened and we were super lucky that it was not as cold it was fine maybe in the 70s it was not cold at all it was good so here we are on Bauman's just like last time not that many shells at first blush but once we started walking we found a couple things looks like awoke to whelks whitening looks and here is an urchin with its spines it's an animal he probably was a probably was dead since he was upside down so poor dude so that again lots and lots of shells lots of opportunities to kind of pick through there if you're into clams you you would have been able to bring him home tons and tons of them but we were looking for something a little more special here we have some scallops that are alive there's just such a bright color inside and it's really kind of cool that's attached to something there's a little Oh conch Oh find ourselves a scallop that's kind of pretty and here we have a broken lightning look it suckered me in that's pretty whoop that one's alive yeah tulip kind of beat up I'm not gonna pick him up another lightning well it was kind of busted there's more of those scallops and there's another busted lightning woke up my Florida finding conch oh I was good I didn't bring him home yeah a tulip its banded tulip it's got a hole but I don't care I don't find that many of them so let me keep that Oh super pretty scallop no no they're just kind of unusual to find one without any kind of bright colors on it of that orange guy oh yeah it's super pretty look at that another book so here we are we're walking up to some stumps which is actually good opportunity for me to take some pictures I post those on Instagram so I was busy video shelling taking pictures there's another Florida fighting in another woke busted you know last week I managed to find what I would consider like a monster lightning walk stuck on the roots of these guys but alas lightning Wilks don't strike it twice had to check though this was driving me crazy all day you can see the shelves right there in the surf but it you you can't see exactly what's going on until the next wave comes in and off it was just making me nuts so bunch of shell piles you pick through mmm that's a little horse I don't find much of those either so we definitely keep them another lightning and it broken one it's a keeper another keeper I was I remember this guy he was pretty I'm gonna use that as a tool that's a cockle that I'm gonna use to kind of like dig through let's see what we come up with nice another walk yes I wasn't feeling on that one what the shells super pretty color on that guy another now later on in the video I'm going to show you two critters that I've never seen in the ocean before so make sure you watch all the way through up that's not a keeper one hour but it's busted bummer that's pretty scalloped yep like my arms ah tricked really scallop a little lightning well and told the ends of those guys are a real pointy so watch out no no if he's a little beat up probably not gonna keep him boom your axe won't find all that many of those I like those check this guy out it's like purple I thought that was really cool that's that many purple ones I thought that one was pretty to know the me Rex I thought that was super unusual cool but scuffle isn't it no the keeper that's pretty now this guy picked up cuz it just was so big usually don't seem quite that big he's got a hole I'm not gonna keep him take some pictures and even push somebody else uh beat up olive yeah but a good one a little pretty no a little turban those have only found on Sanibel so far they do have to expand my shelling horizons Oh a tiny little welcome not a little whitening look another cool scallop okay and another Lightning whoa pretty like the colors in this guy that was butterfingers he was pretty so we were thwarted a little bit they were doing construction along the beach so we had to get off the beach and walk on the road a little bit we had to walk around this construction I said they're building up the beach there so now we're on the other side and now for all intent and purposes were at blind pass which is actually not that big of a beach it's just kind of like a little little hook thing getting something to eat very very pretty day other showers around this is a true tulip that is a slipper lobster never seen one of those but those critters back another pretty and scallop so we didn't really find as much stuff as we did last week and so here we are walking through I guess it's like all those trees and stumps she can't really look I guess she could walk out into the water but I chose to walk through the woods there's a scallop and in the woods last week is where I ended up just picking up a bunch of stuff too so not this week and there's another lightening up I mean the tides the wind it all depends sober don't you know did the same exact walk well I'm not keeper and look at this guy there's a stingray right in the surf I was standing there trying to pick out shells among the waves and he was right there so cool and then I turned around I picked up this orange Scout and the pink one I didn't know the Murex a little bit to meet up you know they're pretty Scout check this guy out that's a live scalp and he's got a slipper on him that's the slipper snail attached to him back he goes so last week there's someone asking where exactly we were that is the causeway right there was that was the lighthouse that's where that's Bowman's beach and then we walked all along except for that one part up by buying pass where we had to get on the stream but that is the walk that we did same exact walk and this was the hall not too bad definitely not as impressive as last week but um like like I said just goes to show the tides the winds you just never know so
