As Choudhury almost wins the ball back inside the Huddersfield penalty area.
Tells you the Leicester press and high up the field, the Leicester defenders are with Choudhury
the right back nearly stealing it in a dangerous area. Yeah it was excellent,
excellent press from Hamza Choudhury, almost gained possession of it as well.
Another promising move from Leicester.
This is the first ever League Cup meeting between these two sides,
only the second ever Cup meeting here at the ACU stadium.
An FA Cup tie in January 2013, the only other previous Cup meeting here.
Chris Wood a goal scorer in a 1-1 draw.
As Manga comes into the area again, goes beyond Guc and then
may be in trouble here for a dive. He put the ball one side of Guc, he went the other
he then went to ground so the referee immediately pointed for a Huddersfield free kick.
A little bit ambitious there from Hamza, good run from Casey McAteer from outside to in,
from making that right wing to make a run inside, a horizontal run inside but
you know it had to be more like a pitching wedge,
just a little bit flat on the delivery safely into the hands of the keeper.
Well on the 25th minute the Leicester fans have started an applause,
to remember Leicester's PA and answer.
As Deon Charles robs Ben Nelson, this is a sheer to the right of the penalty area,
it's just taken too long and Fas has comfortably taken the ball from it,
but then Skip has given position away and it's a shot,
hit with venom, it's just gone flying over the bar from Rowan, the left back who had got forward,
let fly with that one and I'm not sure Stelarczyk would have got that,
Skip just gifted possession to it right on the edge of the box.
Well two mistakes there, first of all by Ben Nelson trying to be a little bit too cute.
It's Leicester corner again on the left-hand side will be another outswinger,
Fas on the 18-yard line, Nelson slightly in front of him with Samare making a walk
in between the two of them, Daka inside the six-yard box, Oliver Skip stood on the six-yard
line trying to block one of the runners as it comes through and a header that's just over the
bar on the far post by Casey McAteer, good distance from goal, 12 yards maybe,
try to get the power but it just took it over the bar and beyond Lee Nicholls.
He's not left the ground, so you're right he's trying to generate power with his feet
planted on the floor, Alvest wanting it down the touchline, the initial effort from McAteer was
blocked, it's come infield, it's controlled poorly by Dion Charles, dropping back the centre forward
midway inside his own half and that's the move quickly to Monger on the left-hand side,
to the left of the penalty area, Dummies to go on the right, lays it off to Luke Thomas,
referee slightly in the way but still got the cross in, McAteer got a glance in touch by the
penalty spot and it was angled towards the far right corner as we look, Nicholls having to
scramble away to make a save to deny McAteer, it's crowded close to the penalty spot as Luke Thomas
would take the corner, this time an in swing, oh it's a perfect one for McAteer's head who got three
seven yards out, headed it back across the goal, it's flicked off Wallace again,
it will be another corner, it was a driven delivery from Thomas and McAteer found himself
totally unmarked. He's done the right thing, he's headed it back where it came from but he's just
headed into an area where there's no Leicester City player standing, so unfortunate. This time
it goes to the far post, Dakar's header, oh nearly touched over by Skip, he's took a
kick to the head for his troubles, the referee has blown for half-time, Oliver Skip will need
treatment, question could that have been a penalty, it's a high boot inside the box.
I think Ollie Skip will be okay though but...
Now Skip good control and he can feed it to Monger again, there's more in the middle this
time for Monger to aim for, lays it off to Skip on the edge of the area, it's his cross right-footed
headed clear by Rowan, it's on the edge of the area where Sumu tries to head it forward, he does
so but only as far as Hamza Chowdhury and Leicester keep in possession and starting to build some
momentum here in West Yorkshire, nil-nil at the Accu Stadium, Carabao Cup round one it does go
straight to penalty if it stays level after 90 minutes, Page in the right corner in front of the
travelling Leicester fans, deals with the physical attention to find Chowdhury, and here is Ben Nelson.
Fats take a few steps forward before finding McAteer on this right side, looks for the angle
to find some room as he starts to move infield from his right wing position, allows Fats to take
up possession, Leicester literally now camped on the edge of the area, ball into McAteer on the
able to pull it back, Fina reacting to clear as far as Chowdhury, by a stutter from Hamza Chowdhury
on the night he captains Leicester City, he catches one right-footed and he's arrowed into
the top left corner of the goal, Leicester have a breakthrough, they have an opening goal
in their Carabao Cup campaign, and for Hamza Chowdhury, a rare goal but a stunning goal
that gives Leicester the lead, wow, taken by Hamza Chowdhury, one touch, he sets up and he bangs it
for the outside of his right foot, although Gooch fancies it, it's a chipped cross and it's a header
from Phoenix Street at Jakob Stolarchuk, probably the first save he's had to make and it was a
comfortable one but it was an important one, yeah everybody's saying that Roots is going to try and
bend one in the corner, to get this second goal, Leicester do go through, they will have a long
trip to the northeast to take on Sunderland in the next round, here come, oh that could be a penalty
it is, Chowdhury who was clean in the tackle a few minutes ago, not so clean there, takes the legs
and immediately the referee David Webb points to the penalty spot, Dion Charles hasn't scored in
his 20 appearances since joining Huddersfield in January, he immediately picked up the ball
and he's fired it to Stolarchuk who's made the save but formed the rebound, Huddersfield score
and what a moment for the teenager, 17 year old Dan Vost who has headed home from close range,
Stolarchuk as we look, dive to the right, his left, push the ball away but it's gone up into
the air and Vost was the quickest to react, Charles still waits for his first goal but
Huddersfield have scored an equaliser and we are all square at the Accu Stadium, this is all about
after the ball is here, if you look at Leicester City's defence, they don't follow that penalty up
a bit short from Soumare to Thomas and now Mavadidi running into the penalty area once
again, step over the pullback to Harry Wicks, oh brilliant, brilliant from Leicester,
super finish from Harry Wicks, just passed the ball into the bottom right corner
after Mavadidi mesmerised the Huddersfield defenders with the step overs as he made it
into the left of the box, Wicks so crucial at the weekend to the Leicester comeback in the league
and here in West Yorkshire he's put Leicester straight back in front in the Carabao Cup
and they lead 2-1. Again this is all about Steffi Mavadidi driving into the box
and a clever layoff to Harry Wicks, Harry Wicks first touch is so blind it just opens him up,
opens his body up. One back at possession giving away a chip ball forward controlled
by Murray Wallace and on this left side is Ashir and he's got room to run into the penalty area
he's got Rowan as an overlapping pullback, oh well he was given the space and he was almost invited
to shoot and in doing so he's found the top right corner of Stelarcic's goal,
switch from the right wing to the left wing in devastating fashion and for the second time in
the game Huddersfield have found themselves an equaliser, this one coming with less than 15
minutes remaining, we're all square again at the Accu Stadium and another goal of such high quality.
Well Ashir gets a ball here and he gets the overlapping support
from the fullback, Hansi Chowdhury goes with an overlapping run from the fullback
because he knows Ruben Samari is just inside him and giving him support but as soon as Ashir steps
inside, Samari doesn't get there quick enough. Nicholls he's bouncing on his tiptoes to our right
Jordan Ayew weighs up the options, a slow walk up and a save for Nicholls as it's sent low to the
left as we look, comfortable save, thumbs up to the goalkeeping coach, on the spot and again puts
his left foot firmly to the left off the ball as we look, walks back takes one step to his left
it's another slow walk up and another save, a mirror image of Ayew's Stelarcic diving to the left
his right, the left as we look and pushing the ball to safety, made a real impact since coming
off the bench in the second half and assist for Harry Winks and from the spot in the shootout
scores under the body of Nicholls, it's another penalty that's gone to the left as we look Nicholls
went that way from 12 yards in front of the Leicester fans, Jakub Stelarcic bounces on his line
he saved the first penalty, what can he do with the Alfie Mace spot kick down the centre of the goal
and we're 1-1 in the shootout, Nicholls a bit quicker this time to get to his line, flexes
both of his arms as Thomas steps up left footed, very well taken penalty, confidently taken another
one that's just slightly left of centre, standing a few yards from the ball and set right foot just
slightly in front of his left and then a penalty that's ripped right footed to the left of the
goal, Stelarcic diving in the right direction but out of his reach into the side of the net
his right foot, his back foot, he's on the 18 yard line, his left foot just in front of it
a step to the left and a penalty, oh he's driven against the post, hit firmly it's dumped off the
post and the ball almost making its way back to the halfway line, big advantage if he can find
the net here, hands on hips on the 18 yard line, a penalty, oh it came off Stelarcic but he's flown
into the task of score to give Leicester a chance of remaining in the Carabao Cup
McAteer, a stutter, a step and a save, Nicholls as he did with the first dives to his right
pushes the ball to safety
