In today's video, I wanted to do sort of a reversed haul.
So instead of showing you lots of new little pieces for spring, in the quest to keep with
the slow fashion theme of my channel and my general style ethos, I'm going to show you
some spring outfits that I've worn in the past couple of years that I'm excited to recreate
this spring.
Sprinkled with a few new outfit ideas from some of my favorite content creators that
I'm going to try and recreate with things I already have in my wardrobe.
So I hope this video will provide you with lots of styling inspiration, but hopefully
also inspiration to simply approach your closet a little bit differently.
So instead of looking at all of the gaps or needs you might have, this can teach you to
celebrate and wear all of the amazing things you do already have in your wardrobe more.
Okay, so before we get into some of those outfits that I've worn before, I just wanted
to say as a disclaimer that some of the items in these photos might have been switched up
with a better quality item or similar.
Either way though, I think that most of them will show that I've truly found peace with
my own sense of style over the years, as I totally still wear these outfits and a lot
of the items I still have too.
But this should also give you a more clear look into my own style evolution the past
few years and the thought process of switching up some of the items that I no longer have.
I think it's only healthy to sometimes stop, look a little inward and be proud of how far
you've come.
With the shift in, for example, seasons, we have a tendency to seek newness.
And so just the act of taking photos of your own favorite outfits through a season can
be a great way to ground yourself and remind yourself to re-wear those outfits later.
So let's start with a little trip down memory lane with these first few outfits.
This first one is from 2017.
I still have this exact trench coat from Everlane and I wear it every single spring.
Do also still have black jeans and classic Breton stripes in my wardrobe.
So overall, this has become a true classic look for me and I do think it's a great timeless
look for spring.
Next is another combination from 2017.
I still have all these pieces except the white jeans.
I remember those being in a very poor and thin quality at the time.
So today I'd go for my rigid cotton jeans from Arkyd instead.
The sweatshirt is from 2015 and I've kind of downgraded that one.
So today I wear it more around the house as it has gotten some small holes and stains
in it through the years, through so much wear.
But I do have a basic dark gray sweatshirt in my wardrobe today that I could totally
wear instead and kind of replicate that same formula.
The boots are from that same year as the photo was taken.
So 2017 and I still have those two.
I actually bought a replacement for them last year from 8, but I held on to the ones from
Acne Studios that I'm wearing in this picture.
And recently I actually dug them out again and I'm going to take them to the cobbler
yet again and see if he can fix them up real nice for me because I do miss a slightly lower
heeled ankle boot in my wardrobe.
And the other ones I bought are a little bit higher, a little less functional.
So although they're beautiful, it would be nice to have my Acne Jensen boots as an alternative
for days with more walking, for example.
So we're now in 2020 and that's the year where I entered pregnancy.
And I bet I was at the very beginning when this photo here was taken, probably around
early March 2020.
I still have all of these items in the photo.
The jeans were bought in 2019 and they are a pair of Levi's redone vintage Levi jeans.
Super expensive, very pricey, but so worth the splurge.
They still sit very well, but unfortunately, as with so many of my other jeans these days,
they've now been ripped across the knees after hours of playtime on the floor with our now
toddler girl.
So I use those more around the house or if I want the ripped knee to be an edgy feature
in my outfit, I'd definitely wear them too.
The shoes are kind of the same story.
They are from 2018 and are looking very beaten today.
So I use those more as part of my weekend uniform for trips to the playground and similar.
So today I'd opt for my VEA Esplanade ones instead.
I do also find those a lot more flattering on my silhouette as they are a lot more sleek
in the design.
They feel less clunky and big on me.
Other than that, you know, you can't go wrong with a biker jacket, which I've been longing
so much to be able to wear now that the weather is finally warm enough for it.
Speaking of biker jackets, here's another look from 2020 that I'd be happy to recreate
this spring season.
I still have those pieces except the bag, which I ended up selling in 2022.
So it's a vintage Chanel flat back that I bought back in 2019.
But with the style of the bag being quite luxe, like not even a little bit, but very
in your face, I never really settled with that.
So as someone who has a very casual style identity, it felt a little bit forced for
me every time I wore that bag and as much as I loved it and as much as I could really
dress up any look with that bag, it was just not meant to be.
So I replaced it with more of a quiet luxury type of bag with no visible logos, but still
in a lovely quality and in a beautiful design.
This one is from The Curated and it comes with a long and a short strap so you can update
the look of it depending on the occasion.
And I really like the versatility of that.
The biker jacket is a secondhand purchase from 2019.
The boots are also preloved from, I think, 2020.
And both of these pieces are spring staples that I can never seem to get enough of.
So the beige boots are currently at the cobbler.
So I've kind of had to restyle this outfit with some different boots and accessories,
but I would totally still wear those boots.
The next outfit is also one of my personal favorites for maternity looks from 2020, but
still something I could totally wear today.
I still have the top, actually, the striped top, but it's another one of those pieces
I've kind of downgraded to home wear.
I've actually also altered a little bit since.
So I've taken a bit of the length both on the sleeves and on the body of the top.
So it's an old piece from the men's section at ArtKit.
So altering it made it feel a little bit lighter on my frame, I think.
I do have a short sleeved tee with the same stripe that I could wear instead.
And then today, because I don't have that maternity belly, I tuck it into my jeans to
balance out between my shorter legs and torso to give the illusion that I have longer legs.
I'm showing the looks here with some other boots again, because those are currently being
shined up by my cobbler.
But otherwise, I could totally wear them with this look again.
I love how the color of the back and the boots matches and creates coherence in the outfit.
Next up is one of my absolute favorite spring looks from last year.
I love the white, beige and purple combination.
A really simple look with just a touch of color.
I did recently order the Day Glove flats from Everlane, though, as the flats from Vivaia
that I'm wearing in this picture, which were gifted, by the way, just as a disclaimer by
the brand a couple of years ago.
As much as I've loved those, they were a little bit too small and narrow for my feet.
So probably should have sized up when I got them.
I've sized up half a size for the Everlane Glove Flats.
So hopefully those fit a little bit better on my feet.
Because I do think flats are a great substitute for sneakers.
Just a little bit more dressy.
And they can really transform, especially the more casual type of outfits.
So the next outfit is one of my favorite formulas for spring.
I love when the weather is mild enough for you to be able to wear blazers.
It's kind of a light outerwear.
And I love the contrast between the classic and dressy blazer and then the super light
back and casual base.
Today, I'd probably opt for a pair of dark gray jeans instead to make the transition
between that soft light blue a little less harsh and contrasting, which I think is great
for especially spring outfits.
The blazer is a secondhand number from Theory.
And it's a really great and lightweight blazer, perfect for the spring and summertime because
it's not too warm.
So the last look that I've worn in the past that I'm keen on recreating this spring is
from 2021.
So just a couple of years back.
One of my all-time favorite color combinations is light blue, white, and beige.
And I love the blended combination with that gray t-shirt as well.
Just a really low-key casual outfit with a bit of an edge, thanks to all of the denim
and then the boots as well.
So it's no secret that I love shopping my wardrobe by getting inspired by street style
outfits from Instagram or Pinterest.
So to finish up this video, here are three looks that I'm recreating from my own wardrobe.
So the first outfit is by Matilda Dieff.
I actually made a little reel trying this outfit combination over on my Instagram recently.
So the oversized jeans look has really grown on me lately.
I went through my storage to see if I had something similar and I did find a pair of
dark blue jeans in a size larger than my usual size.
These are a pair of jeans from Organic Basics that I held onto post-pregnancy and I've kind
of just kept them as a backup, you know, in case my body changes.
So just to try out this silhouette, I styled them with a white shirt and a pair of Converse
sneakers and though I know the jeans are not going to be everyone's cup of tea, I really
like this look and I definitely think that it's a silhouette I'd like to explore more.
I do prefer the lighter wash denim for the look a little bit more than the very dark
wash that I'm wearing here, but since I already had the dark blue ones, I think it's a nice
mindful way to try the look before potentially searching through a couple of the local thrift
stores to see if I can find a similar pair of light wash jeans in a slightly backer fit.
So the next outfit is by Symphony of Silk, someone I follow on Instagram.
I love her style.
This is a great outfit for work.
It's not far from my trusty work uniform, which is often jeans, t-shirt, and a pair
of jeans.
Just a tad more dressy with the shirt, which because it's left slightly unbuttoned, it
still feels rather casual and like something I could totally wear.
And then the flats and blazer to kind of balance it out and polish it off.
So I'm excited to style my new flats, which should be arriving soon from Everlane for
a similar spring outfit.
Last but not least, here's another blazer, jeans, t-shirt outfit formula by Sincerely
Jewels.
I have some different color blazers in my wardrobe, so I'd probably go for my sage green
blazer that I'm also wearing today.
So really this outfit is a no-brainer for me, but nevertheless a great look.
I love that splash of color.
This is a cool way of putting together a rather classic minimalist look, but then it's really
personalized because of that splash of color.
So as you can see by my style revolution over the past couple of years, my outfits used
to be very neutral, very monochrome.
So that's definitely where the biggest shift in my style has happened over the last couple
of years.
So although I still have and wear lots of neutrals, I do like sprinkling everything
with some nice colors here and there.
And I do also gravitate less and less towards black or near my face as I've fallen in love
with a handful of less heavy alternatives that I enjoy wearing a lot more.
So that's it for today's video, guys.
Just a lot of outfit inspiration and outfit ideas and some ways in which I'm looking forward
to re-wear some of my older outfit formulas.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
If you did, don't forget to give me a thumbs up, make sure you subscribe to my channel
as well.
I'd love to have you around.
With that, thank you so much for watching and I hope to see you very soon with another
video.
Bye, guys.
