Serving through Chinyanska.
He's starting this second set on Vargas.
What are you doing?
There are not a lot of players around the world that can hit a shot like that
and Vargas is absolutely one of them.
Coming flying through, hitting it inside the three-meter line.
Insane!
That is illegal.
Turkey has stacked.
Thompson serves into the stack.
Vargas from the deep end.
Melissa Vargas is feeling it.
One of my favorite things to look out for Vargas
is the change-up of angles.
You can see USA is expecting her to swing that deep cross,
that sharp ball inside.
He's been incredible.
Baloch serves that onto Kadikert.
Vargas.
Oh, what an angle!
That is outrageous!
Vargas somehow making that look easy.
That is one of the most difficult shots to hit
with the big block in front of her.
She's not afraid of it.
She almost attacks it going inside.
Of course, improve as Rotar makes a good pass.
Oh, well played.
Simge stays in the points
and these block touches from Turkey
will be exhausting for France.
Now Vargas to tidy up.
Oh, my goodness!
Oh, ho, ho!
That was probably the best hit of the week.
Just enjoy this.
19-24 set point.
Good ball in, plenty of options.
Goes to Vargas!
And she wins it in style!
You're probably right because...
Well, let's have a go. Let's go.
Sometimes it just seems like thunders on demand with Vargas.
Now, Gangcheng, you're in the perfect spot to make this play
but it's coming with so much heat.
You might get hit but it's tough to handle.
That's not something that's on their mind right now.
No, I don't think so.
I think only for Canada and Netherlands
as they try to get that last spot.
The fans, though, know.
Brazilian fans were rooting for Canada against China
because they knew that would put them ahead.
Wow! Ripper!
Well, there's no world ranking that can tell you
how quick that ball is hitting the floor.
Vargas making some space for herself.
Gets to her position.
And her arm is so quick.
I want to know what she...
Another tough serve.
Tight again. Handled better.
And there comes Vargas
powering in from that backcourt attack.
Yeah, there's no stopping that.
When it's one-on-one, you have Vargas coming in
on this quick, thick attack.
Watch how fast this is.
And she uses all that momentum.
Again, looks like she's attacking that in the front row.
It's because they're China fans
but because they saw boldness and ambition.
Don't get a serve.
You just set me again. I'm ready.
She doesn't even need to be on that back line.
Coming flying through the backcourt.
A beautiful ball.
Great set for her to take a big rip on.
100 kilometers an hour at 3 meters high.
Insane.
Build a little bit on this set for her team.
Also with a strong serve there.
But it's Vargas.
One-on-one.
Done and done.
You ask her twice to finish a set.
She will do it all day long.
Straight back into it.
Oshpai to Karakurt to switch to Vargas.
Lovely.
Everything's still working.
Forget that point. Move on.
And I think they're using the pins a little bit too much.
You see three perfect passes in a row.
They're all going to the pin hitters.
Try to get that middle involved to open things up.
Another good serve.
Shane's off the net.
Out of system.
Karakurt's very close to it.
Now two players.
Vargas and Karakurt not even involved.
Chance now for Li Yingying.
Wonderful by Baladine.
And then Vargas back in position.
What a recovery.
How about that?
A couple of minutes ago she was on the wrong side.
In position four.
It also felt like Chyna was in control of that entire rally.
Just keeping the pressure on them.
And all of a sudden she ends up on that right side
and somehow gets her feet there to get the kill.
Two meters two.
Tallest player on court.
It's a low skimmer.
And Baladine just gets that one back.
Vargas bends her back and rifles one across the net.
And that absolutely spread eagles the Chinese defense.
And that'll happen when you have Vargas going up front.
A beautiful swing right down through.
Sets herself.
Ada restarts the game.
Goes into Wysiak.
Oh, it's still up.
Out to Vargas.
It's a two-point game.
Cancel your plans.
We could be going deep.
Even when Poland knows where this ball is going out to Vargas,
they still not to start off this match.
Oh, what a good serve and great pickup.
Baladine.
Oh, that's a fantastic riposte from both ends of the court.
Wonderful serve.
Great pickup.
And then Vargas, you rule her out at your peril.
Sometimes in the back row, she has more space to hit.
She can see the block just a little bit better,
which is something she wasn't doing.
I think both Parker and Vargas were sending somebody else to pass
so they could do this.
Yeah, they're not used to being right next to each other in that lineup.
Certainly neither one of them is the go-to
for the overpass and the free ball.
Surprised the libero didn't jump in and take it.
But Vargas now back to doing what she does.
Vargas.
Washington was here for it.
Too much heat, as always.
And again, a quick, easy point there for Turquoise.
Vargas is searching for the middle blocker who's just served.
There's no libero on.
The blockers are closed up.
And Larson's a minute ago.
22-18.
Correa again with some speed.
Get the center out.
Good choice.
Vargas, though.
She is known for that.
She swings so high and hard, and she loves that end line.
And Vargas knows how to absolutely rip a ball down in the center of the court.
She also knows when to take a little bit of speed off
and just perfectly place this ball to the corner.
Closed the line.
On the other side, Vargas.
Unstoppable.
28 points so far in this match.
And don't forget about her.
Don't sleep on Vargas.
I don't think anyone is sleeping on her these days.
But Lozo.
Ede Erdem from the service line
is helping Turquoise right back into this game.
10-12.
Then Ersker to the middle.
First up, it's blocked.
It's kept alive.
Surely not.
Vargas.
The entire arena is on its feet.
And Lavarini, just about the only one
who's not impressed by what's going on here.
Just when you think this Turquoise team is out,
you can never count them out
when you've got a Vargas on your team.
15-12.
A bit shorter this time,
and Vargas on the chase.
Free ball.
Corner-look serve causing mayhem,
but they need to convert.
They haven't because Erge is dug.
Vargas.
Oh, outstanding.
Again.
Incredible transition on Turquoise's side.
Erge stepping in with an incredible ball.
Almost lays out for it.
Allows that transition play to happen.
John Suh, going to her hot hand.
Advocate them.
Ede.
Good serve.
Only as far as I catch.
Back court.
Vargas.
Oh, it's incredible.
It is incredible.
It is 9-12.
And there are not enough cowbells
to celebrate that brilliance.
All of a sudden,
Turquoise back in this set.
Vargas with her 36,
a casual 36 points of this entire match.
You felt that uphill, didn't you?
Gosh, yeah.
Just thinking,
if you're a libero back there
or any backcourt defender
and you see Vargas go up,
if she has any kind of space to hit,
you've just got to put your body there
and hope that...
That's an ace.
And that is phenomenal by Vargas.
It's one of the best aces
we've seen this entire VNL.
Ripping it right down the line.
Perfect tempo.
That'll get you going.
Isabel could just watch that fly by.
And that's in as well.
It's a double ace.
The target changes,
but the execution does not.
And at a perfect time,
following the last one,
bearing up her shot,
going right at the end line.
Dominican out of timeouts.
They can't stop it.
