Hi, I'm Brad, and I'm John.
Well, we're going to continue doing new things in the world of DT Boxy.
This was the other new thing that had popped up that we could have done last week, except
I did the thing that we did last week from Yanaha instead of this one.
Actually, technically, I guess the thing from Yanaha was actually a bit newer, I think,
or whichever way around it was.
Rambling.
Yes.
This one, basically, I think this one was second.
Anyway, this song by Beta Pell House, released July 30th as part of their EP, What's In My
Room.
It's called Eternal Ember.
Apparently, somebody shoeboxed it in with dance and electronic music, which is real
novel to my brain because it's kind of like...
It's technically all a cappella when you stop and think about it, because it's...
It's got a dance to it.
Oh, yes, but it's all beatbox, so it's not really dance, yes.
It's not electronic music, though, because it's a cappella.
It's all done by people's mouths and voices, but anyway.
This was also actually featured in the Samsung advert alongside the T1 gaming team, which
is a Korean online gaming group, basically.
They opened up a new stadium called T1 Homeground, which is where this live performance video
comes from.
So, yes, this is actually beatboxing live, but for all those people who say, oh, it's
all special effects done after the fact.
No, no.
Let's do it live, shall we?
Anyway, T1 is a well-known, successful esports organization.
That's what I couldn't think of the word.
They've got a strong presence in the game League of Legends, and they recently opened
T1 Homeground, hence this concert.
They won't be anyone's there, but hence this concert where they can host these online matches
in their own venues and stuff, and fans can come along, and so it's a bit more...
It gives fans a home game location to actually go to, rather than just watching it all online.
So you can actually go and watch them play live, also on big screens and everything else
as well.
There's just a huge fan base of people who actually watch people playing these video
games as well.
I'm not in that part of the world.
Yeah, this is in Korea.
Well, no, just the gaming world, I mean.
And I'm standing in that stuff.
Is that where it was?
People watch it.
Yeah, League of Legends Champions Korea is T1.
So yes, it's in South Korea, I believe it's in South Korea.
Well, I doubt it's in North Korea.
No.
So anyway, yes, Hiss, Yellow Wing, Hellcat, Huckle.
All right, well, let's check it out before we do.

Sure.

Well, it definitely has the electronic sound, you know, so it's not being made by electronics.
I know.
It's one of those things where it's kind of like, how do you pigeonhole something that
is in a way fits into so many different genres of music, depending on how you do it, when
it's kind of like, yes, but it's really its own sort of little separate thing over here
off to the side.
It's kind of like, yes, it sounds like a really good piece of, you know, techno electronica
music.
But.
It's all.
Like I said, effectively, it's all beatbox.
It's all made by the sound of the human voice.
All right.
Oh.
I was actually going to say the same thing.
It's like in a lot of their stuff that we reacted to, she hasn't had a continuous vocal
With the ones that she has had a vocal in, along with, I forget which one it is, there
have been a rap vocal.
Right.
So you've had that kind of call and response between her and the other guys.
I can't remember which one it is that usually does it where they're doing the call and response
bouncing kind of rap line back between each other.
I think this is actually, yeah, the first time we've actually done one that was she's
was like she's singing and not someone else.
And then it's just actually like singing vocal.
music.
Yeah.
Also, just like to point out the size of the arena.
Well, that's what I was going to comment.
That arena is to watch people play video games.
Effectively, yes.
Esports.
I mean, I guess if they could fill the seats, I mean.
Yeah.
It's not that small of a.
Yeah.
You know, there's effectively probably a permanent stage structure for the actual players of
there.
So it's kind of like, yeah.
It's not a small venue.
I just I just it's I mean, I don't get it.
But that's why people want to do it.
Yeah.
I mean, I don't honestly, I don't I actually don't personally get the spectator side of
it.
It's like I can understand playing them.
Well, yeah, that's not.
That's not that many people who just pay money to go watch people play a video game.
But that's me.
That's true.
And I'm not a gamer.
I'm not into.
Yeah.
Any part of that world of gaming.
That's actually nothing.
I mean, I'm going to assume that they charge for, you know, people to go.
I think they built an arena that big and that they have to pay for something.
But then it could also be a case of, you know, it could be, oh, no, you can come in for free
concessions.
They're going to cost money.
You know, the merchandise, that's all going to cost money.
It still costs a lot of money.
Then when you pay to go into things to buy food, drink and merchandise.
So exactly.
And there are some locations that actually kind of like work on to that model where it's
kind of like, oh, yeah, you can come in.
You can see the entertainment for free.
You're going to pay out even more.
But no, I'm saying that you're going to pay for your drinks and popcorn.
You pay a pretty good arm and a leg for food and drinks, even when you pay an arm and a
leg to get into them.
Yeah, that's true.
But yeah.
Yeah.
So it's kind of like, yeah, these events like these are always a really good way, I think,
of basically going to all the people who go, you know, it's kind of like, oh, no, it's
just fake.
And, you know, it's all special effects that you've done after the fact.
And, you know, you're mixing things together and stuff.
And it's kind of like, no, they have, you know, five people live on stage with microphones.
Basically, you're just doing.
I mean, yes, you still have people who say, oh, no.
Yeah.
It's like.
Yeah.
It was nice to really showcase our vocals.
Yeah.
On this song.
So that was nice to see.
And yeah, it's like just to be able to make that noise.
With your mouth.
Everyone's got to have their own opinion about stuff.
So I made up my opinion on why would you go up so high.
But there again, I grew up in the 80s and we sat around and watched people play video games.
Most of the time we were sitting around waiting for them to finish so we could have a go.
Yes, that's true.
You know, we put a little order up there to know who was in line.
Open bowl machine.
Yeah.
With me growing up, it was, you know, down one of the local pubs.
Along the side of the pool table.
You'd have, you know, you'd have your stack of coins lined up.
Yeah, people sit around and watch people play pool and bowling and golf.
Darts.
I mean, yeah, it's.
I guess really.
When you stop and think, it's just another sport.
So.
I watched Formula One.
Yeah.
That doesn't.
No.
Well, like I said, you know, everyone has their own thing.
Yeah.
It's not mine.
So that's why I don't get it.
When I start thinking of other things, it's like, you know, I guess so.
Yeah, that does kind of make sense.
Anyway.
Well, yeah, we're obviously going to continue hitting my lap now that we've rambled on about nothing.
