Welcome to Math with Mr. J.
In this video, I'm going to cover the
prime factorization of 55. So, we are
breaking 55 down into its prime factors,
the prime numbers that multiply to equal
55. So, taking a look at 55, we need to
start breaking this down by thinking of
two factors, two numbers that multiply
to give us 55. Well, 5 and 11 are
factors of 55. 5 * 11 equals 55. So,
let's break 55 down
into five
and 11. Now, both 5 and 11 are prime
numbers. So, we are done here
and here. We can't break these down any
further. And this is the prime
factorization of 55. Again, we can't
break anything else down any further. We
only have prime numbers here. So, we are
done. And we can write this out as
55
equals. And then we can write out our
prime factors in order from least to
greatest. And we are multiplying them.
So, we have five * 11. And if we have
the correct prime numbers, they will
multiply to equal our original number. 5
* 11 is 55. So we are correct here. So
there you have it. There's the prime
factorization of 55. I hope that helped.
Thanks so much for watching. Until next
time, peace.
