Lin Shidong vs Truls Moregard - MS Final - #EuropeSmash 2025

...against Duda. ...to get this crowd even more... Sensational body blow in more ways than one to Chidoni. Remember to breathe, everybody. Quite a high level. So a slender lead. Oh, beautiful. This is on the parallel, too. Truls with a quality opening. Spin, okay. A little bit of arc. Slaps into his opponent there and squares things off in one game apiece. For example, see figure 8. We saw the shot to the face earlier. Lin Chidoni, that ball is so low with so much topspin. To chase, we got a big counterattack from Truls behind the table, but strong, consistent, making his way back in. Lin Chidoni... ...is just going to stroll through it. Good placement here. Well, that time, Truls was able to find that searching ball out... Every time, the Swedish fans stand up. Study the game. Because of Sweden. Really impressive thing about... Not the best we've seen from him so far. And it's a one-point game. Slow and spinny. The variety he brings. I hope he's okay. He doesn't get that one. And it's game point again. And he wins points in crowd pleasing... There are statement points. Now he's roaring. This is the energy. 4-8 down. This has got to leave a scar on the brain. He was down 1-3 against Simon Gauzy. We know Lin Chidoni is capable. He's stoned. He's got a steel trap for a mind. Bloch sets up the forehand. He's responsible to keep the ball dry. He could play it again. Ooh, is that off the edge? Don't stand. It's fairly expressive. He recovers and wins the point. That was amazing. Here in this arena. Short side of the table. Caught it in the armpit. But the point goes to Truls. Tough to lob to. It's the top smash. He got a net early on. But as soon as you start lobbing to Truls, a guy who's got so much comfort to add side spin, he's just tough to take down. 19 shots. A couple of them stupendous. The serve was so good. This was baffling. A lot to focus on right now. And there it is. The spin. The heavy spin. He's 3-1 up. He is one game away from taking the title over the world number one. Up here. Lin Chidoni finds the place that wasn't on the map. Fight all day. It's a good start here for Lin Chidoni. The crowd knows what they've just witnessed here. And the blush on the cheeks of Truls right now. If your jaw wasn't dropped throughout this point. Casual play. He plays a chop block. And then he goes into blocking. Lin Chidoni feels Truls coming in after a ball that was deep on the table had to take that chance. Fight for the title. Truls has definitely gotten his work out in and Lin Chidoni just seems so stable. There's never a feeling of Lin Chidoni being pushed out of his comfort zone. Once again this is big. Licking the match so far. Lin Chidoni jams him and Truls tries to go in. Lin Chidoni. He doesn't have to be playing defense. He can be a step behind the table. He can rely on 80% spin. Chidoni with the snake and a follow up. Why push that back? Steps around. Plays the line. Lin Chidoni capitalizes on the opportunity. Lin Chidoni. Round of 16. Lin Chidoni recovers. The feeling. Truls is known for his feeling. The Shogun. He's got the hand. And that's why we're watching. How are Lin Chidoni in this moment? Gets the serves back. The last two. One of the most amazing matches in history. And it's right here in Truls' home. Oh the joy. The ecstasy in the crowd. He did it. The unthinkable. Truls Morgaart has won the first ever Europe Smash. And he beat the world number one. 11 to 9 in one of the most dramatic matches this sport has seen. And there it is. With the fingertips to the forehead he can take his time sitting there.
