Pamela here has a very inspiring story
of how she lives in a VW Bug
[Music]
I have lived when I was 20.
I lived in an RV and my husband and I
also got way back when
um a little van again and we basically
turned it into a Westphalia we went
across the country
but I spent years in different places
built houses in Oregon in Arizona in
California
and
had had trailers a year and a half two
years ago I I sold my little dolphin I
was living in and I you know had
mechanical problems with that and and
this wasn't I didn't plan on doing this
and I was camping I loved camping but
like I said it gets problematic you know
wind storms or you know rain storms and
being in an attack right so I ended up
doing this and and that's what I've been
doing it can get really windy
and you know and you can just get
blasted with like dust and but you need
to be you know sharp and on your toes
right it's just part of being closer to
the elements but I always tell myself
you know don't get too comfortable you
have to go out even though it's cold
take a walk you know don't that's just
life you know
we're human animals this is how we live
for we have instincts
you know we were designed to live
outdoors and to experience the instincts
if you go out to Nature like green is a
very soothing color or under the trees
or whatever your breathing changes you
know and so yeah things like that wins
when it gets hot I head up to the High
Country you know what I mean
when I was working down here I couldn't
do that I had to stay down here and it
would be horribly like in the Summers
you know I mean they have the rivers
here that's nice
but
there's nothing like going to seven
eight thousand feet and walking through
a forest
you know what I'm saying and the
monsoons are nice okay and then you get
all kinds of I go foraging
you know there's dandelions and there
was all kinds of stuff there was there's
a few types of wild oreganos up there
and this was outside of Flagstaff all
over the Coconino and then there's just
there's just stuff you find right just
all kinds of neat stuff but
um
because I like
plants you know herbs
you know make teas and stuff like that
that's the original medicine
so you know I'm always learning new
things
and there's always New Forest roads
to explore
at you know there's like a whole huge
Network
so yeah it's fun
yeah it's kind of endless exploration
that you can do yeah and then there's
there's also as far as walking to where
because there's so such a network of
roads like some of these are really old
and the forest service is just people
stop Brewing them and they've gotten all
overgrown and you just keep walking and
walking and walking and it's just quiet
you know they were talking a bit about
foraging yeah what people don't realize
is these things growing out in the wild
that most people call weeds actually
have more nutrition than the vegetables
improved in the store right they're the
only true organic because we don't
unless you do testing you don't really
know what's in the organic food and it
they can't reproduce What nature nature
puts a plant exactly where it's getting
what it needs
and it's like people you know the
ancestors and the the grandparents or
great grandparents they they picked the
weeds they didn't call them Wings
there's been a dumb down of an
understanding there were greens you know
you make a salad from it
it's like you know I mean this is what
they knew what our body needed and it's
like that it was nutritionally dense and
minerals and I have the life force in it
you know from the sun right converted
perfectly for our bodies so yeah and so
we got a Roundup Ready culture
know and it's everywhere and like I said
um I I will only call the wild stuff
truly organic because
you know what I mean I I think if you
have organic chickens it's okay to feed
them other chickens and that's not you
know
I don't know I don't know if we'll take
it that far we've been told hannibalism
may not be that fast so I'm just saying
maybe if you put that organic Stampin
sticker and you charge people two or
three times as much maybe there's
someone is has a profit incentive and is
not exactly telling you the whole truth
I'm just saying my grandmother ate
dandelion greens when she was young and
probably into adulthood and she lived
into her 90s I do wherever I can find
them they're hard to and my ex he's he
actually every where he goes he's
looking for him he actually went on a
little tour now looking for him because
he can't find them and mustard mustard
grows everywhere and the Native
Americans here actually I mean they
didn't cultivate it but where there's
little Groves of like okay water it a
little you know help it out yeah it
grows right back here I'm gonna go get
some video of it they in India they make
use the mustard oil and it's really they
make their own you know from the seeds
you can either press it or they have
different ways to separate it and um but
that stuff's good for all kinds of
things wild mustard like other leafy
greens is low in calories and full of
nutrients namely vitamins a c k e and
folic acid mustard greens are also
excellent sources of calcium iron

manganese mallow is classified as a
