Our three-generation (Grandfather, father, and daughter) dual sport adventure to Oregon's Wolf Rock continues! This logging road adventure begins with more epic shots of Wolf Rock, the largest monolith in the state of Oregon. Afterward, we set off on what SHOULD have been an uneventful ride back to the truck. Unfortunately, we had another Google Maps fail and ended up on a sketchy logging road which meant another unscheduled off road motorcycle adventure. Fortunately, the Honda CRF250L, Suzuki DR200S, and Honda CRF110F we were riding were well-equipped and very capable dual sport motorcycles, and while it took a bit longer to navigate back to the truck, we were never in any actual danger of being lost or getting stuck in the woods. Come along with us as we explore abandoned logging roads in various states of disrepair. This was truly an epic motorcycle exploring adventure, and many amazing life-long memories were made on this motorcycle logging road adventure!
Previously on Lost. We're going on a three-generation ride today.
Got Lil Dork, got Papa Dork, and got me, Regular Dork. All right, here's our turn. Oh, we are going
to take a sketchy three-digit road up here. It's about to get real fun. A little steep part right
here. Oh, well now we're off the map, so I don't know where the hell we are. Yeah, okay, this is a
problem. I've never had this problem before. It usually takes me right there. Oh, this road looks
a lot better, actually. I'm certain the scale is not coming across on the camera. This rock is a
thousand feet high. One solid rock. Yeah, we're going to sit for a bit.
And now the conclusion. So, kid, how's it going so far? Good. How do you feel?
Did you have a good ride so far? Ready to head back? Give me a double thumbs. Nice. This is
impressive. This is probably like a Tuesday in Colorado. It's nothing. Well, we think we're
awesome. At least we have some mountains. We could live in Kansas. All right, we're going to
just ride around the side to see what kind of view we can get, and then we're going to head back.
All right, well, I'm glad we came up this side road. A lot of dead ends today, but ultimately
we succeeded. Man, that's pretty. 22 miles we've ridden today. Yeah, I don't know, man. We may not
get to see it because of the trees. That spot might be the best spot. I kind of wanted to see
the arch, though. Oh, here we go. It's right in front of us. I mean, you're going to be able to
see it looking up. It's just maybe partially covered by trees. This isn't bad. There's another
road here. Damn, dude. Look at this thing. It's so huge. It looks like a face right there. Like a
giant face. It's immense. Like, it's unbelievably huge. It's hard to wrap your head around how high
it is. I mean, it's a mountain, but it's a single rock. Dude, so big. I can't even take a picture of
it from down here. There's no way I'd get it in the camera. You probably can't even see it on the
camera right now. I'm trying hard to look at it. It's so high. Yeah, we're going back down. It's not
going to be super visible. We're almost too close. Sorry, kid. That's amazing. Is that the arch right
there? I'm going to stop. Wow, dude. It's so big. Wow, dude.
Looks like the road goes down. I don't know. Do you think we're going to get anything better?
Should we just turn around? All right, so probably best to just head back.
I am eager to be pointed in the right direction.
Yeah, unbelievable. I'm sure it's not. This camera doesn't have great depth,
so it's probably hard to tell how high this is, but it's amazingly high. That arch is like 80 feet.
We're going to head back. Probably not going to be many views of the rock on the way back, but
guess what? We can. We take that side road. We'll see it again from a distance,
but goodbye, Wolf Rock. It would be fun to camp out here and just stare at it.
Let's see if we can get back without getting lost. It's Oregon's version of Devil's Tower.
Oh, car. Oh, no. It's a side-by-side.
Careful. You good? Okay, well, I thought we might see a car. I did not think we would see a
side-by-side. Interesting. They're probably camping up here somewhere. This might be our road.
It's pink marked. Okay, yeah. I'm pretty sure this is it. Are you?
Okay, well, we're not in the navigation area, so let's see if we can find it.
Our memory is all we have, but I'm pretty sure this is it. Yeah, this is it. This totally looks
like it. Oh, now it's like, oh, you're on the road. I am, in fact, on the road. Thanks,
Google Maps, for pulling your head out of your butt. Yep, here's that tree.
That tree. We're on the right road. I recognize some of the things we're seeing.
Yep, this is it. Yeah, this map sucks. There's supposed to be a road right here. I don't see one.
There's one to the left, but there's supposed to be one to the right.
So, we're trying to head back the way we came in. It's just not exactly... Oh, there's a snow
depth marker right there. It's just not exactly on the map, so we're doing half map, half memory.
So, that's why I keep confirming that we're on the right road, but we are going this way and not
taking the main road back because the main road, it looks like it makes about a two or three mile
loop out of the way, and the main road is boring. So, we know that this will get us there as long
as we make the right turns. So, we're going to go this way. It's more fun, and there's a couple
decent views of the rock again on the way out. So, that's not nothing. Oh, ----. DC 200. That's
not what we want. We want to stay in 732. 731? We didn't come up this way, did we?
I don't remember. This looks right. Oh, yeah, 732. Okay, we're good.
200 is going to be some kind of sketchy side road. This is the one we came down, right?
Well, we'll see. It must be because we need to take it off to the right up here through the
section that's not on the map. Yeah, the rock is over there. I don't know if this is right.
221. It doesn't have pink markers on it. Okay, I kind of remember that spot, I think.
Google is no help right now. It's trying to get me to do a u-turn.
Oh, wow. That kind of looks like our road, but there's no flags. It's a good thing we noticed
the flags, huh? Okay, this I don't remember. No, we're on the wrong road. I would remember that.
Don't you think? It might have been the road down... I don't... Dude, I don't know.
It's so hard to tell. Wow, we didn't pass that hole before. We didn't? I was wondering if I
No, but I'm wondering because we are right here and 1509 is right... it's like right over there.
Well, yeah, because if this isn't the road we're on, then it doesn't dead end. The other one we
were on dead ended, so I guess it's worth looking a little bit. Worst case, we just go back to the
intersection we just passed and try it, but this might go through. I don't know. Part of the
I don't know, man. Hard to tell. Up doesn't usually go through in my experience.
This one's pretty sketch, babe.
You okay? You're making a weird noise back there. It's not too bad. Just
keep your eye on the road in front of you, okay? This Google map not working thing is annoying.
Well, this is pretty steep. I bet this doesn't go through. That one down there is probably where we
want to be. Damn it. All right, you're good. Just go slow. It's just a little rocky. It's not bad
though. Nothing you haven't done before. All right, up here you're going to want to go to the left.
Okay, never can tell what the noises are. You don't tell me when you fall.
So I just assume every noise is you falling.
Yeah, I would be pretty surprised if this went through. I think we're just going up to the top
of this mountain. It's probably a landing spot. Oh, dude, it's so close though to the other road.
You good? You're getting kind of far behind if we're crackling. You're down? You good? You need
me to come back? Okay, you have to tell me when you go down. Like right when you go down though.
I don't know. I can't tell. I stopped. I feel like maybe it doesn't. Do you want me to go ahead and
does? It doesn't do it well. It just gets sketchier. It goes up. Well, I went to where
we wouldn't keep going. Oh, really? Yeah. Let's try that other fork. Go back down to the crossroads
where we went up and go down instead. Okay, go to the left of this thing. The right is sketchy.
It's like a sinkhole kind of. I knew something was up when we started going up.
Definitely did not come up this high on the way up out here. It's not this one. I think it's down
here at this other intersection. Despite what the sign says. I think Google Maps got the wrong road
labeled. Yeah, this says DC 200 but I don't think so. Okay, these are our tracks. Yep, here's that
little mud. Okay. Yeah, I remember this. That's better. That's what I get for following the damn
map. It said that was 731 or whatever, but it's not. This is the sign. Google's wrong.
Google's stupid. Stupid Google. I disagree with you, Google. I might cut out all this getting
lost ----. I mean, it was fun on the way in, but it's going to be tedious and boring in the video
on the way back. Yep, here's that rock when I was like, look, it's a big rock. There's more of our
tracks. Alright, so be on the lookout on the right side for that road marked with the pink flags.
I don't know exactly where it is. That's not it. I don't see any flags, do you?
Big view of the rock is right here. There it is again, everybody. Looks much smaller from here.
Here we go. I see markers. This is it, right? I think this is it.
Look for our tracks. I see some tracks. It'll be really evident when we go downhill,
because when we go uphill, our tires dig in. Here's that big rock. Remember that? Okay.
Alright, well, memory one, Google zero. Well, my memories failed us a few times, but
I'm pretty sure this is it. Well, if this is it, then we'll be back on main roads and good to go
when we get to the end of it. The big rock hiding in the grass on the right. Just be careful.
The one right in the middle of the road, too. Yeah, that does not rock. Yeah, I remember this part.
Oh, okay. Branch, go left, and then go right, because there's another one.
Yeah, here's another view of the rock, I think. Yep. Okay. Yeah. Oh, hell yeah. There it is.
There it is. Wow. Cool. And the three sisters. What a view. What a view. I remember that.
Bump. Yep, here's the sketchy, sticky part. And then we're out. Remember, it's a right turn onto
a steepish hill, so don't slow down too much when we get to the intersection, okay? It's not too bad
right here. Yeah, we're here. This is totally it. But I'm not going to stop. We're going up.
I'll go slow, but I don't want to stop on this hill. You don't want to either.
All right, your grandpa's right behind you. We're good.
We're back on the map, according to Google, too, so I think I can get us out from here.
We did it. Yay. All right, well, to quote Madonna, we made it through the wilderness.
Somehow, we made it through. So despite Google Maps failing us repeatedly, we managed to navigate
back to the road we came in on, and the rest of the way back should be smooth sailing, easy
main road action. So, of course, I will edit. I will include anything eventful that occurs between
now and then, but I'm guessing it won't be, so I'm going to try to end the video here.
So thank you all for coming along. We appreciate you coming on this multi-generation
grandfather-father-daughter adventure. Two Hondas and a Suzuki in the woods. Please,
if you haven't yet, don't forget to like and subscribe if you want to see more motorcycling
shenanigans, particularly involving Lil' Dork and Papa Dork. But for now, we're going to let you go.
I hope you enjoyed the video. I hope to see you again soon, and as always, please do not forget
to be excellent to each other. Thank you. Excellent!
