Come hike with me through Death Valley National Park's geologic wonderland that is Mosaic Canyon, a fairly easy wander of 1.7 miles, good for the whole family. See the different types of rock and meet one of the canyon's inhabitants.

Rock Hopper here and today we've got hard rock and lots of it right here in Mosaic Canyon
in Death Valley National Park.
This is the mouth of Mosaic Canyon.
Mosaic Canyon is a geologic wonder.
With rocks as smooth as polished marble.
That is some mighty smooth stone right there.
And this looks just like marble as well.
This 1.7 mile hike is fairly moderate, however it's not something you really want to attempt
in the midday in the summer here in Death Valley.
So we've come up through this and going now through this.
Some pretty colors in those hills.
Your trail is The Wash and it's an easy, pretty flat path, but there is some elevation gain
to it.
So just keep that in mind.
Maybe about 1,200 feet from start to end.
About a half mile in.
Looks like a boulder jam up ahead, so I think we're going to have to go around that.
Go up there and get up.
Well, that didn't quite solve the problem.
There appears to be more rock scrambling to do.
Or maybe not.
I think we just go in through here.
Presto.
There you go.
But we do have to go up this, but it's not bad.
This is what we came through.
It's almost like a tiny slot canyon.
And just a little more to step up ahead.
Just add a sprinkling of rain and this place could be a geologist's wet dream.
When it rains, this becomes a mini-waterfall.
A little pour off right here.
That little dude just jumped on my pant leg a couple times.
I don't know if he's catching a fly or what.
I think that's the end of this branch of Mosaic Canyon, but I think there's another branch,
so we'll go see if we can find it and explore it as well.
I guess that big pour off right back there was the end after all.
So I hope you enjoyed coming up to Mosaic Canyon with me.
Don't forget to subscribe and give me a thumbs up, like on this video.
And don't forget to share it with all your family and friends.
Until next time, this is a rock hopper.
I'll see ya.
