An abandoned village just off an interstate in the desert has a gas station, market, and housing and begs to be explored. Let's see what we can discover!
I'm the Rock Hopper and today I found an abandoned gas station, market, and tiny settlement in the desert.
Welcome to Hilltop Mart. We've got gas and diesel and so much more.
So let's have a look around and see what we can find. Let's step into the market.
Past the broken glass.
There's the refrigerator section.
That's where you get a nice cold beverage when you're driving through in the desert when it's
really hot, which it is not right now. It's very cold. Okay, let's go back here.
What do we have? Steps. Let's go up there and check that out.
Well, that doesn't go much of anywhere. Probably just some storage up here.
Back downstairs in the bathroom. Ah, this paper behind the mirror
looks quite old. Really old. $5.99 for a pair of shoes.
And look at that, uh, not what you can make of it anyway, that woman in the photo there.
This looks like, what, I don't know, World War II era?
Maybe I should turn it upside down for you. So maybe you can read it now. Some of this stuff.
Uh, yeah, this bathroom needs some cleaning. Hello? Yeah, you can tidy up that floor a bit,
but I guess it doesn't need toilet paper as there is some right there.
Okay, so let's check out the rest of the downstairs.
Out in the garage here. Not much left in here. Graffiti.
Lots of broken glass. You might get banished to the chair in the corner.
Some toys left over here. There's an outside view of the shed. The garage.
Chips, soda, juice. There you go. There's your gas pumps. Fill her up. Regular or premium?
Let's go take a look at the employee housing. All right, let's mosey on in. Lots of stuff.
An oven. A toaster. A crock pot. Hey, look. An oven with a toaster. It's a toaster oven.
And we got some laundry basket, spatula, kitchenware, plates, ice cube, tray, blender,
mixer. More stuff in that box. Headlight. Assorted odds and ends.
Here's your kitchen with a tv on the counter.
Let's take a look around the corner. Here's the bathroom.
And this looks like it was a bedroom. Some shoes. Wow. A pair of shoes that actually
match. You don't see that very often in these abandoned places. Usually it's just one shoe.
Oh, almost passed that up. It's a rather full-size bra there. I don't know. What is it? C cup? D cup?
I don't know. Yeah, this is probably the other bedroom here. Not much. Just some
hangers in the closet. Somebody kicked a hole in the wall.
And that pretty much does it for this unit. Let's have a look in the other unit.
Well, some chairs. Tool storage cabinet that's really beat up. A couple of barbecues.
Right, mate. Throw another shrimp on the barbie. Yeah, too right. I got a mattress in here
with a pillow. Looks like somebody may have been sleeping on that not too long ago.
And can't quite make out what all this junk is. Yep, looks like a monkey.
Somebody's been monkeying around. I don't know if you can see it. It's really dark in here.
Toys. Assorted toys. Stuffed animals. That kind of thing. Shoes.
All right, let's have a look through here. Not much in this room.
And oh my, that's a lot of handprints. This is why you don't buy paint and leave the kids alone
at home. Holy moly, there's a lot of handprints there. An entire room with handprints
in paint. And they decided to paint the outlet even. And paint the light switch too.
Coming into the living room now. Got some glassware there. Drawers. Plastic barrels. Trash.
An old school desk. Old paint cans. And some kind of beautiful chair in the corner.
We have here kind of cage. Just a lot of trash mainly. And this kitchen here.
Shaving cream. It's almost full. Anybody need some shave cream?
Cupboards. And just your general garbage. Mama, there's something nesting in the oven.
Yeah, so these were your plush accommodations probably for the employees or maybe the owners
of the market gas station. Heading out into the shed here.
Yeah, pretty empty. Not a whole lot. Old air conditioner. Some tires. Buckets. And some kind of
styrofoam insulation maybe. Old satellite dish over there. A beat up old ladder.
So this is probably where they had the animals. In here. Looks like this might have been a shell
station at one time. Judging by the shirt here. Another look at the housing. But wait, there's
more. It just keeps getting better. More housing. Alright, we're inside one of the trailer homes.
And it just looks like there's assorted household fixing type things like
this caulk. Any guy will tell you, you want to fill the crack with the caulk.
That's right. Put the caulk in the crack. So we're going back here.
Yeah, I can't even see in there. It's getting dark. Not much in this trailer.
And pretty empty. Looks like friendly folks lived here. Let's see what we have in trailer number
two. Looks like an old swamp cooler. Anybody want to take a walk? Yeah, that's a wok. Chinese frying
pan. And another frying pan. This was the kitchen here. Not a whole lot in this thing either.
Going down the dark hallway. Yeah, just broken glass. Not much in here.
Yeah, about the same thing in there. Trailer living at its finest. Due to water shortage,
restrooms for customers only. And whoever brings the love. I hope you enjoyed exploring this
abandoned market, gas station, and settlement with me. You keep on subscribing and I'll keep
taking you to funky, abandoned places like this and much more. Until next time, this is a rock
hopper. I'll see you again. Adios for now amigos. I'll catch you next time. I'll leave you with a
beautiful desert sunset shot.
