Mac The Moose in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan another giant roadside attraction the weather turns cold and snows Canadian springtime eh, We also see the Giant Coca Cola can in Portage La Prairie in Manitoba, Retired couple drive a rental motorhome from Canadream across Canada on the Trans Canada Highway from Toronto to Vancouver 2019.
Hi team, first thing in the morning we're going to gas up. So what do we have to do first?
Okay we've got to turn this knob from three o'clock to twelve o'clock.
And that disconnects the electrics. We have to do that before we fill up.
And then what else are we going to do? We're going to go round and we're going to...
We're on empty propane. We're on who? Empty. So we need to fill up propane as well.
So we need to see if they've got propane too Norm.
Well here we are team. Well where indeed are we today? We are in the city of Portage de Prairie.
La Prairie. So we took a little detour didn't we to come in here? We did because we were told
by one of our viewers on YouTube that there is a Coca-Cola building. But not only that.
The biggest Coca-Cola can I think we've ever seen.
Just to prove it we parked our RV in front of it so you can get a scale of it.
So here's the RV and here's the Coca-Cola. Look at that size of that. It's huge.
So here we are in the city of Portage de Prairie and the residents here are
lucky enough that their local water supply is Coca-Cola.
Do you think that comes out the taps when you live here?
Yes. It is and in fact it's raining and we've both got hats on and it's really cold.
Good morning from Regina. I have to think about that. We've travelled so far. This is
our sixth night. Probably one of our coldest and it's around 20 past six in the morning.
Got a beautiful sunrise in Regina and we've driven about 2800 kilometers so far.
We do have snow on the ground as you can see. A little bit of snow on the camper
on the ground and I thought I'd just show you a few things. Here's the bump out. We have three of
them on this vehicle so that gives us extra space in the dining room on this first one here. The
second one is quite decadent. That's a wardrobe that bumps out for our bedroom so we have double
wardrobes and then the third bump out here is for our queen bed. It converts
the bed into a full length queen and we just motorize all these out
and that's pretty much it. So it was a good night.
The sun's rising as you can see here. We're in Walmart and the reason we do this is the
campgrounds are closed. They don't open until the 24th of May roughly so we have been using the
Walmart because in North America it's quite a tradition to camp in Walmart's and they don't
mind at all for us parking overnight and this is where we spent the evening. So more to come today
It's a mouthful to say Saskatchewan. It is but you know what so far the place it looks beautiful.
We're having a great time in Saskatchewan. Yeah we really like here don't we. So what's behind us
Dean? Behind us is the giant moose. So this is the second moose we've seen. Do you think he knows
Max the moose from Dryden? I don't know maybe they might be related. But an impressive roadside
attraction. And that's actually the only two moose that we've seen on the whole RV trip so far.
No real live ones unfortunately. But we're having a great time aren't we. We are and we're here in
Moose Jaw Saskatchewan in the springtime in pretty deep snow. Yeah and it's not really the springtime
we thought. No. We thought it would be sunny and blue sky. We didn't really imagine snow, blue skies
and cold temperatures. Although it is warming up a little bit Norm from this morning.
Anyway this is us with the moose in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on our continuing road trip across
Canada. Catch you later. So here's the moose at Moose Jaw Saskatchewan another one of our roadside
attractions. And there is a RCAF pilot training jet aircraft by the side of them. So this is what
we came to see another giant roadside attraction in Canada. So this is a Snowbird aircraft on
display in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. The Snowbirds are an aerobatic display team of the Royal Canadian
Air Force. And this is mounted in Moose Jaw.
So we're on a mountain anyway.
We're on a mountain anyway.
So this is the first time we've done this road trip. And that means we are going to be out on the
Moose Jaw. We love Saskatchewan. We've been to Paris for three years.
It's beautiful.
We've dodged a really big snowstorm. We've seen three trucks in the snow.
That one car.
We're just keeping going.
Yeah we are.
There's another storm chasing behind us.
We're hoping to get to Medicine Hat.
Because we're going to stay the night there.
Here is the provincial county line.
The provincial flag of Alberta.
And the national flag of Canada.
So welcome to Alberta with us.
And join us for our road trip across Alberta.
To be continued.
