Wild Groundhog Won't Let Woman Go Home Without Her - The Dodo Wild Hearts

There he goes. As soon as I start walking he follows me. Don't you? Yes you do. Wherever I go you follow me. I can't have you get run over. You're on a busy road buddy. I was driving home from work and there's a ball of fur in the middle of the road. So I get out of my car and she's following me and I was a little I was a little nervous. I've never seen a groundhog before. I don't want you on the road. It's scary. Someone can run you over. See it's very scary. What are you doing? I don't know what to do. This is a disaster. And this went on for about 45 minutes before I finally called my husband. I said hey I have this little baby following me to my car and I think I'm gonna bring it home. We had her under our deck for about three days and she did not know how to borrow. She had only at that point knew how to make a nest and so I called the rehabilitator who I brought her to later that afternoon. For about two days we didn't have her and I called the rehabilitator just to check in. And the woman phones, I'm so glad you called. She's not doing great. Your husband's gonna kill me because I think she's better off with you. For 22 years she's been doing this and never has she asked somebody to come and pick a wild animal back up. So we have this groundhog who is really a part of the family now. She has actually had three different burrows since she's been with us. She comes out for breakfast through the regular basis. She coexists with our other animals. She spends most of her time out here on the on the deck just eating and she likes to lay in the sun and relax and plop. If we're home on the weekends and we're doing yard work she's with us the whole time. So she'll follow us down to the lake walking in between our feet. She wrestles with us. She's very affectionate. She just lets us rub her ears, brush her. As a wild animal not something you would really think would happen but she definitely shows affection. She 100% trusts us. It's almost like a it's like a Disney cartoon for me right? They humanize animals and here we have our own little animal personality who's been humanized you know.
