Oh look at the slabs!
Oh sick!
Oh she's steep! Oh my god I can't see the corner!
What's up everybody and welcome back to the channel! So for today's video I am super excited
to be back here in Nelson BC. Behind me you got the town, you got the lake, those incredible
mountains. I came here last year and this place absolutely blew my mind. I actually consider
moving here. If you haven't, make sure you watch the video. I'll put a link in the description.
And I love this place for two main reasons. The first one, the biking is absolutely incredible
and we only scratched the surface so of course I had to come back. And the second reason, if you
have followed me on social media, you know how much I love food and good coffee and this place
got some incredible spots. It's actually pretty well known in BC for the food scene and there
was many restaurants I needed to come back and others to check out. So we are out here. I want
to give a massive shout out to the sponsor of this video, Tourism Nelson Kootenay Lake. They support
this project and I'm just super pumped. We're gonna start by a new trail. This is called Bed Frame.
We're gonna make our way all the way back down to the lake and we're gonna finish by some
incredible slab. It's gonna be sick. Let's go biking.
Hey man, we go for some cyclo. We'll talk about myself and then some food. Not much biking.
So I'm gonna be riding 23 psi on the back with Donniel Casing Maxxis tire. On the front,
we're gonna go 22 psi on a double dome. That should be good. And for suspension,
I've actually learned to ride my bike a little bit softer than what I used to. Mostly because
now I run a 50 millimeter rise bar. It puts me like nice and high. It's really good on the steep
terrain and because of that, I can drop a little bit of pressure on the fork and I can get the bike
to sit a little bit more on the travel. It's more comfortable. I get more grip and it's really
important on some of the runs we're gonna do today just because it's so steep and demanding.
Being a bike that's a bit more forgiving, it's gonna be nice for the body.
Okay, Peter. Yeah. Thank you so much. Enjoy the views. We'll see you at the bottom.
Okay, onto bed frame. So Grizzly Bay uses this trail.
By the way, this was Peter from Tourism, Nelson Kootenay Lake. He's an absolute legend.
Okay. So the start is supposed to be a bit janky but the view is unreal.
I think we need to stop here. This is incredible. Look at this.
Damn. Nelson, you're pretty. What a cool turn. Look at this. They even put a bench here for me.
We're gonna take a little picture just because I want one for my brain and one for you to enjoy.
Okay, let's go. Yeah. Okay, biking. Okay, we took some time to take on that view
and now we are riding down.
I'm a bit confused here. We are definitely not the first one to get caught on that little trap.
You would think it's good. I mean you can't be mad when this is the view.
So when you look at Trailforks, it's pretty obvious that the trail goes left and that
the viewpoint is right there to the right but I guess this is why you should be using an app.
Yeah, I just got excited. Same. Okay, back on track.
Now this makes more sense. So the top of this trail according to the trail association
is supposed to be a bit janky old school and then it's gonna get a bit more flowy.
So I bet this trail is just gonna open up and ride with some good flow.
Okay. Oh, look at those slabs.
That was cool.
French line.
Let me powder my hands. You know what I enjoy about this trail is that
it's completely different from anything I've ridden so far. Everything else is so different.
It's so janky and blind. Because Baruslav, Goldmember, you got that like typical Nelson,
fast, just good dirt, roots, bunch of compression, good flow and this is like
more like old school almost like alpine feeling just because we are up. Yeah and it's really open.
You can see a lot of the trail when you can see it but otherwise you like come over these lots of
these blind rolls and it's nice to have the view just because it's beautiful. The other trails you
don't get the view that much. The rock is super grippy too. That rock is sharp here.
Nice.
Nice. I love all those little pitches.
That takes some navigating. Yeah, definitely have to be focused. Look ahead and just like
I ride like an easier gear than usually just in case I need to put a couple of pedal strokes.
And by the way this is day number four on the Rimpact with the Enduro spring and I actually
really enjoy how it is because when you go to pedal since there is a resistance from the spring
you don't have that dead feeling and then hit the engagement like you can have with a low
engagement hub. So I feel like it allows you to you know get like a smooth feeling when you go
and put a pedal crank. Okay, try this again. Okay.
This is not an easy trail.
Okay, I feel like the janky part might be behind us now. Yeah, this is probably the
we're gonna enjoy the most. Yeah, I think so. Oh yeah, look at this dirt.
Oh yeah. Oh, I didn't see that rock. Oh yeah. That's sick. Oh, what trail is that?
Oh, that's probably the one that we were told about.
Yeah, so this is Blue Steel, a blue trail. That'll be for another time.
Oh yeah, nice. Let me just have a quick look at my wheel because I hit a rock super hard.
Yeah, dead straight. Spoke tension is perfect. So TR38 from Nobel have been really strong.
If you're curious about it there is a code down below in the description
and they are mounted on the Project 321 G3 hub. Nice.
So often when I ride this close from people, I don't get to see some of the sharp rocks until
Oh, sick. Wow.
Yeah, buddy. That was cool. Oh buddy.
Forgot to brake or what? I think I got cross-routed.
You've got those maxis. They've been winning a lot of World Cups already.
Oh yeah, I did a little cross-route. It'll do.
Oh yeah. It's hard to know where to go.
Oh yeah. That was cool. So many lines you can choose from.
Yeah, I came into that one intersection. There was like three different ways to go.
Well, it's a choice. Wow. Oh yeah. Back on more slabs.
So we're getting close to the highway but we still have another trail to ride on.
Wow. Sick. Okay. Biking. Pulmonary. So this is a bit like tech, junkie, bunch of slabs
and I rode it last year. It was pretty hard to find my way around.
So many lines everywhere. Nice. Triple roll.
That's fun.
I'll go left if I were you. Yeah.
Okay. If I remember well, there is a big slab coming up next. So go to the next one.
Yeah. Here we go. Nice. Like all in control. Epic dude. How about we go get changed,
swap bikes and go e-biking? I'm down.
Okay. So about 30 minutes of climbing, 630 meters of elevation on the e-bike.
Feeling good. Slab a l'inch. Let's run it. Let's run it.
So this is on the North Shore of Nelson.
Oh, it's pretty steep. I guess the climb was pretty steep.
That was good. Okay. So I don't really know what to expect here.
I assume some slabs. The rock seems pretty grippy, but
yeah. So cool. Oh yeah.
Just got to do that to scare the bear a little. Oh, here's a line.
I'm going to go. I'll film you from the bottom. That's good.
Very steep. Propentresh SL. 150, 160 of travel. But let's set up. I've got the 50 rise bar.
It's a really fun bike. Not quite as capable as a Meicano, but lighter and a ton of fun.
Oh, wow. Oh, look at that view.
Damn. Oh my God. Where does this go? What a labyrinth.
Going to have a look at this section. It seems like spicy enough that we should study the line.
This is sick.
Fun like creeper rock. Would you want to ride the other line?
This is cool. Yeah, just like slow. I can't wait to be in that lake.
So slow and controlled. The rock is good here. Nice. That was awesome.
Yeah, I know. You don't want to get cocky here.
That was a nice little front wheel tap.
So we've dropped about half of the elevation.
Wow. Yeah, we're not going to manage to move this one.
Wow. Should we check our trail fork just in case? Yeah. Pretty confident that's the trail, but
yeah, we're right on the trail. We've done about two thirds.
Nice. I love when there is a jump and you can just like guess where is the landing.
It's like the best feeling.
So hard to see behind.
Sick.
Oh my god, I can't see the corner.
Oh my god, that's dangerous.
Thanks everyone for watching that video. I had a blast following Matt down those trails,
but guess what? We are staying for a couple extra days here in Nelson, BC. We are going to be doing
more riding, that means more videos, so keep an eye on this channel as well as my road channel.
Now to support the channel, simply consider subscribing, leave me a like, a comment,
