She goes so fast you can't catch her.
I'm Rosanna and this is Mia's story for GeoBeats.
A little paralyzed puppy in this parking lot,
really in the middle of nowhere.
She was scared and she was trying to go away from them.
But then I could see she had this beautiful smile,
despite she was probably in pain.
I was following the shelter that found her.
The name is Belvi Rescue.
It's a shelter on the Atlas Mountain in Morocco.
I was very touched for her condition
and we decided to adopt her.
We had to wait four months
because she needs a lot of vaccination
before entering Europe.
And we went to Frankfurt to pick her up.
Despite everything, pain, disease, fear, everything,
she was already super playful.
She wanted to play all the time.
I don't understand where she keeps all this energy.
She is very cuddly.
This is her kingdom.
She really loves it.
We have now our routine.
I think it gave her stability
because she was obviously traumatized
from what happened to her.
The encounters with our cats,
they are kind of a strange relationship.
I have the feeling that she doesn't have
this idea of herself a disabled dog
because she does everything that she wants.
But yeah, when I see her like that,
I also think, wow, that this dog,
she would have been really a racer
because she has such a character,
strong character and a lot of energy too.
She was not born like this
because we made x-rays
and we know that she has a trauma on her spine.
But how this trauma was there, nobody knows.
Sometimes when I have problems
and I want to complain,
I look at her and I think
that there's so much I can learn from her
because she's always looking,
it seems to me,
that she's always looking at what she can do,
not what she can't do.
What she can do, she does.
And so I really learned
that even in the most difficult situations,
there's always a way to enjoy life.
