All right, let's cut the wood. It sounds
really though. I wasn't sure it
would.
How many jobs do we need? This one's
extra heavy. It's a two shower kind of
day.
The Hyper Adobe Roundhouse is our most
ambitious project yet. Taking everything
we've learned from 5 years of
experimenting with natural building and
off-grid systems. We've designed an
incredibly unique earthback structure
that will serve as our family home in
the centerpiece of our homestead. It's
been a long road to get here. Starting
with the foundation, we leveled and
compacted our base, dug out the trenches
for the walls, put the plumbing in,
wrapped and protected our lower layers,
set over 30 door and window forms,
locking them all in place with over 400
tons of material. We just recently
reached a huge milestone, course 20 and
the tops of our door and window forms.
This means we're ready to install an
insane amount of lentils or headers over
all of our openings.
[Music]
enough.
[Applause]
[Music]
Good morning. We are back out at the
workshop area. Now, one day this will
have a roof over it, but today is not
that day. The goal this morning is to
get everything cut and then burn it this
evening after the sun is further down
and not so hot. I have a list of all the
sizes I need. So, we should be able to
get this done fairly quickly. We'll set
up a stop, do it as efficiently as
possible. We have our neighbor here who
is moving all of our AB mix back into a
bigger pile so it's easier for us to
work on cuz right now everything's so
spread out. I really hate relying on
people to come help us. It's so
frustrating. But thanksful for good
neighbors who can help us out when we
need it. So, all right, let's cut the
wood.
[Music]
Heat.
[Music]
[Music]
Heat.
[Music]
[Music]
We were just talking about how nice it
is to have this set up because if we had
to mark
all of these, measure, mark, draw a
line, line it up every single time,
You're taking forever. I mean, it's
already taking forever, but this is so
nice.
Cuts through 4x6. I wasn't sure it
would. It's really nice. I wasn't sure
it would.
Okay. 57. How many do we have? 5 10 15
20 25
29.
We don't have 57.
Yep. Still got a lot to go.
Okay.
Heat.
[Music]
Heat.
[Music]
But we did it. All of the wood is cut
except the five lentils that are 61 in
because we have all that wood that needs
to be taken back and replaced. So, we'll
do that later. I'm ready for shower
number one of the day. And we're going
to go in and chill out until it's much,
much cooler today.
[Music]
Well, good afternoon from the barn. Uh,
as a mom, you always hope that your kids
will grow up healthy and happy,
obviously, but I also wanted them to
have like a really kind and loving
heart. and Adeline goes above and
beyond.
So, uh, she's taking on another project.
So, let's go in here and see what's
going on.
[Applause]
[Music]
So, someone in town had
a cat that had kittens, but the mom ran
off after a few days or got her
something. She's not around. So, they
had these five kittens, all orange,
and they couldn't care for them. So
Adelai has volunteered and now is
bottlefeeding five kittens every 2 to 3
hours and uh so it's like another job.
How many jobs do we need? But they're so
cute and she's taking really good care
of them. So yeah, I guess we have five
extra kittens now.
[Music]
Since Adelaide is acting as these
kittens mother right now, not only is
she bottlefeeding them every 2 to 3
hours, she's also having to stimulate
them to urinate and poop. The mother
kitten would be licking them to do this.
So Adelaide's taking a wet cotton swab
and rubbing them like their mother would
have licked them. Adelaide's done so
much research on how to take care of
these little guys and she's doing such a
great job.
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
I went to the store and exchanged the
crappy wood for eight new boards. It's
all I need. I got to make eight cuts,
16 cuts. And
Ben,
we can burn things if we want. I don't
know. I think Jonathan has like already
got a shower and he doesn't want to burn
things. I've already got a shower and I
still want to burn things. It's a two
shower kind of day. So, I think that's
fine. Let's get the wood and then we can
cut things and then decide what we're
going to do.
Sweet air.
Something like I'm breathing in
moonlight
me.
The people in the sky are up all night.
Yeah, I need this slow dance with the
gravity.
[Music]
I clips with your hands all over me.
Okay, we finally did it. All of the
lentils are cut and ready to be burned.
So, even though it's late, I think I'm
going to get a head start. Just get some
of the boards done. I know this is going
to take like a lot of time, but it's
cooling down. This is like the time to
do it. It's not windy. It's chill. So, I
think Yeah, let's burn some stuff. Ooh,
I swear you got me way up there. A
cosmic affair.
Ooh, I swear looking at you there. It's
a cosmic affair.
Heart beats
like the planets are keeping temple.
Hold on to me.
I think I might die if you let go.
[Music]
The dogs are going to be so excited. It
is Bark Day and we just wanted to say
thank you to BarkBox for sponsoring
today's video. A monthly subscription
box for your dogs that bring you
highquality treats, toys, and
experiences. Inside your box, you'll get
two toys and two bags of treats and one
chew. You can even customize your dog's
box according to their needs. Maybe they
have allergies or they're a super
chewer. There's a box for that. And one
thing I really love about all of their
stuff is their treats are all free of
soy, corn, and wheat. Are you ready for
your bark box? Come on.
Do you want a toy?
The toys are designed in-house and each
month there's a new theme. The designers
nail it every month and it's so fun to
see what they come up with.
[Music]
You want this?
You want this?
Oh my goodness. Get it.
Come on.
You want it?
[Music]
Right now, BarkBox is offering an
exclusive deal where you'll get an extra
toy in your box every month for one
year. So, that's three toys instead of
two every single month for one year. So,
if you just go to the link in the
description below to take advantage of
this deal, it doesn't last forever and
your dogs will thank you. Now, let's get
back to those lentils.
All right, we're officially moving into
lentil production. So, we are working on
all of the interior doors. These are a
little bit shorter than the exterior
doors. Is it 61 in? 60 in? I don't
remember.
60.
We'll call it 60. Uh, we've already done
the two buys. Now we got to do 15 four
buys. We have our water out just in
case. We're going to burn everything,
scrape everything, and then we're going
to work on gluing and screwing stuff
together. The glue has to dry. Then we
can come back the next day and linseed
oil those. And then we can start on the
next section. So anyway, here we go.
[Music]
My lips hot like June. Cutting the wire.
Shutting the lights off in this room.
Don't you feel it too? Heartbeat go like
boom boom boom when I'm with you. One
touch electric, two flying sparks. Three
seconds from seeing stars.
[Music]
I like the way you like to move.
Ooh. Cings up where you make them move.
Blue like a summertime sky. Cool like a
lover on ice.
One thing I do want to note is it is
really important how much you burn this
wood. We are not doing this for it to
look pretty. We're doing it
functionally. So, this is what it should
look like. It should be crinkly
and like toasty like a really burnt
marshmallow. Then when you're done
scraping it, all that comes off. It gets
rubbed in the pores of the wood.
And then once that oil's on there, it is
really sealed up.
It
flash
it like that. Do it like that. It like
that. Making it
trash. Bring it right back. Do it like
that. Move it like that. Make it like
that.
[Music]
Well, we're back outside. It's still
really hot. We
It's Yep. 98 degrees. We waited till the
afternoon because it was just too hot.
We're going to try to build the rest of
these 60inch
uh lentils in the shade here. Hoping we
can build all of these and then get them
oiled so that then that can dry and we
can go put them up on the wall, get them
out of our way and keep working on this
pile. Also, somebody got a new tool. How
excited are you about this?
I'm very excited. Every time that we do
cocking jobs, I say I'm going to get an
automatic one.
Well, we got an automatic one.
It sounds really though.
[Music]
Once the wood is burned and scraped,
assembling the lentils is actually
pretty easy. First, we glue all the
pieces together with heavyduty
construction adhesive. Then we pipe
clamp it all, flip it up vertically, and
install a ton of 8 inch lag screws on
both sides. If any glue squeezes out
between the cracks, we just wipe it off.
We let it dry, and then we come back
later and put that oil on it. Then
repeat over and over and over again.
[Music]
So what are you doing? What's this
stuff? This is a mixture of boil blend
seed oil with a little bit of mineral
spirits. And we are drenching the wood,
trying to get it in these cracks just so
it um adds another layer of protection
on this wood from bugs and weather.
They're going to be out in the weather
for a while. Doesn't it take all that
stuff that we brushed and
Well, brushing it kind of pushes all the
ash into the p like the pores of the
wood
and then this seals it
and then this Yeah, this creates like a
It almost turns into like a polymer over
top. Seals the wood up, protects it.
I think it'll be fine for We're only
going to have this exposed for what,
couple months?
I'd say 6 to 8 months probably.
Yeah. Oh, wow. Realistically,
yeah, we'll get it covered up as soon as
we can. But really, we can't do anything
till the roof's on.
Yeah,
but this will help.
[Music]
Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat.
[Music]
We've come to the conclusion The only
way that these lentils are going to get
done is if we get up so early.
So,
we got that whole stack that needs to be
done. I know it's not going to get done
today, but if we could get a big portion
of it done today, that'd be great. So,
early morning, sun's almost up, so let's
get going.
[Music]
So, we got the living room. Well, okay,
these are the front door and back door.
The two 4ft doors in our living room
area. So, we are going to go ahead and
glue those and screw them. We'll let
them dry before we oil them. But, if we
could get this last pile done, those are
the living room window lentils
and the courtyard door. If we could get
those done, that would be ideal. But,
it's already getting warm, so we'll see
how far we get.
It's another day. I'm back on my feet,
so I win again.
Roses are so sweet. The scent is all
around my head. I see the stars shining
right through your eyes. No, I can't
believe that you're finding mine. Girl,
you're so perfect that you make me feel
happy. And I feel that I am the luckiest
guy in the world.
on my way to.
All right. So, those back there, we got
to let the glue dry before we can oil
them. But these have already been oiled.
So, we're going to go ahead and take
them up to the house and just set them
on the wall, get them sort of out of our
way cuz uh we need to do some water runs
today. We need the bed of the truck
open. Um also so that they just don't
get in the way of our pile. Uh so, let's
throw them up there. Heat. Heat. Heat.
[Music]
Heat.
Heat.
[Music]
There's no clouds above me when I think
about your eyes tonight.
You're my comfort after every day.
This one's extra heavy. Yeah.
Heat.
[Music]
Heat. Heat. Heat.
[Music]
Heat. Heat.
[Music]
We are done for the morning.
Back another day
or later today.
[Music]
All right, we have one more door lentil
to do. Technically, this is covering two
doors in our room, but this is the last
door to do. So,
[Music]
so last night we oiled the rest of the
doors that we had built earlier in the
day.
I am going to try to start taking them
over to the house and getting them set
in place. If I can lift them. These are
bigger than the ones that we lifted
earlier. A little bit bigger. Maybe I
can do it. might need Ashley's help, but
I'm going to at least try to take him
over there with the gorilla cart.
We figure it out when it's our turn. You
don't get the prize that you don't
learn. You try to make sense when you
return.
I don't want to waste more time in life.
It's just a flash in the pan when I'm
doing the best that I can. And I will be
until the end. Till the end. I don't
want to leave behind the darkness. I
will be afraid of life. Pay the price of
the cold. I waste more time. Life is
just a flashing
[Music]
heat.
[Music]
I don't want to waste more time. Life is
just a flash
when I'm doing the best that I can. And
I will be until the end. Till the end. I
don't want to leave the darkness. I
won't be afraid. I pay the price of the
