As Hispanic Heritage Month soon begins, one Valley mom turning her Florence home
into a global classroom, teaching kids love, culture, and two languages at once.
And it's uplifting Arizona. Are you ready to learn some Spanish today?
Inside this Florence home,
and out in the yard too,
lives Miss Amy Littles, a mom of three, a teacher to tens of thousands,
and the heart behind Littles' bilingual buddies.
With every song, story, and smile, she's using language, culture, and love to lift kids
everywhere. I want my kids and other kids to feel proud of who they are and where they come from.
What started just last year has taken off like wildfire. Her YouTube channel
now reaching families across the world. Part Miss Rachel, part proud daughter of immigrants,
Miss Amy is reclaiming her roots and giving kids a sense of belonging she once struggled to find.
Being that my parents were immigrants, I didn't feel like being Hispanic or speaking Spanish was
something to be proud of. There was a lot of stigma against it.
Then came a turning point, her husband Chris's epilepsy diagnosis. It was the push she needed
to leave behind nearly a decade in corporate America and pour her heart into something new.
I see behind the scenes, I see firsthand how hard she truly works.
And the hard work shows, from the kitchen table in Florence to 140,000 families and more than
two million monthly views. Deep down, I always wanted to make a bigger difference. I always
wanted to someday start a foundation to support immigrant families, to provide them access to
education, bilingual resources. At a time when many Spanish-speaking kids may feel left out,
Miss Amy is here to remind them they belong. Your culture belongs, your language belongs,
you belong. And so I think that has been our journey and our mission.
Adios amigos, I'll see you soon. I'm ABC 15's Cameron Polam and that's Uplifting Arizona.
