No time for a martini, remain standing, it's a Thrifty Quickie on Midcentury Wasted.
Welcome to another Thrifty Quickie. This one is on thrift store day in 2023 and they gave me this
cool pin. Isn't that great? First up I saw these cute paper pulp kind of angels, if you know what
kind of texture I'm talking about here. They were really cute, they're the little kissy angels but
unfortunately they had way too much damage. One of the angels was completely missing her little
spinny music box dealie and she was just all chipped up. So I did not think that these were
worth it. So I put them back but I still thought they were really really cute. I saw a few art
glass pieces, this little pepper was interesting. I'm not sure why anyone would want a bell pepper
paperweight. And then I think I saw these in the back in a previous Thrifty Quickie. I saw one of
them at least but now they seem to have multiplied. I still don't want them though. Here's another
paperweight, you can kind of tell by the bottom and just the way that it's made that it was not
a very high quality thing so I left that behind. But I did find this cool Fenton deer, said Christmas
1989 on it and it was in good shape. I didn't find any problems with it and I liked his little
necklace bell bow situation so I picked him up. He was only $4.99 and I think
well worth that price. Plus I almost always have a 20% off coupon. I also liked this Christmas
glass. If there was more than one I may have gotten them but I thought it was a little too
specific to buy just as a one-off. I did pick up this little egg cup. I just was a sucker for it
that's all. It was $2.99, it was in good condition and I just thought it was adorable so I got it.
Yep it's a full swing Halloween stuff around here. It is August, of course this was 2023,
but yeah a little shocking to see all the Halloween stuff in August. Although I should be
used to it by now but still jarring every time. These hobbyist Santa and Mrs. Claus were very
extravagant. I have seen this mold before but not quite painted that well. It's just something
that's a little too huge and heavy to make it worth picking up for resale because the shipping
is so high but I could admire them. They were very well done and I did pick up this glass
candlestick holder. It looks like a splash in a puddle of water or ice or something. I absolutely
love this style of candle holder so I picked that up. Now I'm in the pottery area and vases and such
and this caught my eye. It was very interesting and oh look it was done by George. George made
this. I just thought it was really kind of cool. I didn't pick it up because it looked like maybe it
was a little bit amateurish and I just didn't know enough about that kind of pottery to take a chance
on it. This piece looked a little like Albuquerque souvenir so I left that one behind. Then I found
this glass set. I know this type of glass has a certain name like ruby glass or something like
that. It was two glasses and a lidded compote. It was pretty but that's just so far out of my
wheelhouse that I just I'm not gonna pick something like that up. This Cheshire cat mug caught my eye.
Of course it's not vintage but that doesn't always matter if it's Disney stuff and I should have
picked that up because I saw one sold recently on eBay for $24. Whoops. Have I looked at that
turtle before? I feel like I've looked at that but holy crap $8.50 for an ironwood sculpture. I don't
think so. This tin was nice but again we're getting into some pricey pricey pieces here. $5.99
for a dar tin. I don't think so. $5.49 for this canister. I really liked it but some of the gold
was coming off and honestly when they put the stickers on the gold like that oh it's such a pet
peeve. Drives me nuts because it peels the gold off. Now this bowl. First of all you can see it was
filthy. I cleaned it up and it turned out beautiful and perfect like it never had schmutz
on it ever. The signature on the bottom looks like R. Hawes to me but I haven't been able to identify
the artist. I think it was from 1989. It's got that post-modernist style to it which fits into
that era. I purchased this and I still have it and I think it's so cool but I just still haven't
been able to identify the artist. Now I know that I showed these teacup coffee mugs in a previous
video because I was looking for the saucers. They said times four on the cups with no price and I
was like the saucers have to be here somewhere. Well now they finally have matched them all
together and like I said in the last video I have a couple pieces of this already so I wanted to buy
these and make a bigger set to sell. I also picked up these bowls. These are marcrest and the pattern
is called Swiss chalet. Sometimes people call it Swiss alpine but it is Swiss chalet. I also have
other pieces of this set at home and I am planning to sell my set of all of this this winter. I did
like these clear bubble glasses and there was a set of four but at $6.49 clear glass is just too
hard for me to sell at that price. I didn't buy these either but I just thought it was funny that
one was priced $2.99 and the other one was priced at $3.49. These beer mugs were kind of interesting.
They were blown glass and kind of reminded me of margarita glasses for some reason and am I
seriously picking these up again? I was just drawn to these amber glasses I guess. I feel like I've
shown them in like five videos now. This cobalt blue beer mug was insane. It was so tall and skinny
and weird. If there was two of them I definitely would have picked that up. Now we have another
dar tin only this one is a platter. It's like a plate, a serving platter or apparently you can
hang it on the wall because there's a little thing that says place hanger here on the back.
There were two of them. They were $3.49 each and I passed on them. I guess I just wasn't in the mood
for tins. There's also this citrus reamer. Love that word. It was in clear glass. I think I may have
found a little chip on the spout of that one which is pretty common and definitely not gonna pick it
up if it has a chip. This was a mismatched set of Tupperware measuring cups and it was not complete
so I put that back. I did however decide to purchase this pair of train salt and pepper
shakers. I just thought they were cute. They said salt and pepper on each side. They were $3.49.
They still had their stoppers and I didn't see any chips or major flaws to them so I went ahead
and I picked those up. I also liked the Star Wars Starbucks been there mug. If it didn't have this
big chunk missing on the bottom I definitely would have picked that up. Even if it's not worth
reselling I would have kept that and used it at my house. Now always I am looking for Pyrex lids
and these are lids to a certain size of Pyrex that I actually needed lids for myself. At least
one of them if I'm remembering correctly. I think there was a tiny chip on the edge but I kind of
forgive that if I'm gonna be just keeping it for myself and it's just always nice to pick up extra
lids. They were $1.99 and $2.99 and they were different sizes. I liked this little green bowl.
It was very kind of heavy and well made but it almost looked like it was supposed to have some
sort of a lid to it. It had a rough edge around the opening and it was just a little confusing
to me so I left it. This weird little bee chalet thing was interesting. I think you were supposed
to put a light inside of it. It was super chipped up so I didn't really look into it much further.
I just put it back on the shelf. Now these are so fun. These are those Hallmark North Pole
countdown radio things where Santa and the elves talk to you each day and I totally would have got
this if I knew that it worked for sure but not being able to test it I'm not gonna spend $11
on something that may or may not work. This table was oh so groovy. That was cork inlaid on it and
for only 14 bucks that's like a nice little table. Didn't have any use for it unfortunately. Now
we're gonna dig through the bags a little bit see if anything strikes my fancy. Oh there's a little
tiny baby Jesus from a manger scene. Jesus is the one that's usually missing so I'm sure somebody
picked that up. Those sloth coasters were something else. Don't see sloth coasters every day. There's
also like some Monopoly pieces. I mean that was almost tempting to like craft with or something
but gosh I have way too many crafting supplies as it is and I don't even craft so definitely
needed to just leave all that stuff behind. I did like this little left in holly bell but it looked
like it had like a made in China sticker on the back or something. I wasn't totally sure how old
it was. It looked like it was like a way newer piece. Now never have I ever seen a pink and gold
teacup that had a bullfight scene on it. I thought that was super unique but it was a souvenir from
Mexico and it wasn't something I was gonna pick up. And lastly I picked up that set of three
little jewelry box pieces and I know that I sold those at the flea market. I remember selling those
already. Now here is my grand total. I spent $34.90 and I had a really good coupon this time $15 off
of $40. So I saved about 30% on my entire bill. Here's my sweet little haul. I kind of made out
this day. I got a lot of stuff. I got a lot of goodies. Thanks for watching!
