I'm so sorry.
I think if there's one thing people are hungry for, it's seeing more Daily Planet.
I think that's number one, and me too.
You're late again, Kent.
Sorry, Perry.
Welcome to the Daily Planet.
This is my kingdom.
It's real.
Can you believe it?
We are in the Daily Planet set.
This has been a fantastic set.
One of my favorites I've shot on.
We've been really happy for the past few days with the most fantastic crew in the world.
Fantastic actors.
Let me introduce you to my pals.
The little crew of the Daily Planet.
We had a blast.
This is an excitement to be a part of such an iconic story.
There's just a real camaraderie that James curates on all his movies.
It feels like summer camp.
It's been so much fun to have the gang together finally.
The energy's been palpable.
There's been so much movement.
Hey, loser.
Hey, Steve.
D.C., it's not New York and Los Angeles.
It's Center City, and it's Gotham, and it's Metropolis.
The idea was to create the incredible Daily Planet building using practical locations.
Ian Easterbrook, our wonderful location manager, did such a good job.
We didn't find anything in Atlanta, but he went down to Macon, and there's this absolutely
beautiful train station down there.
And thank God, the space is amazing.
It's massive.
It had phenomenal architecture, gorgeous classical lines, gorgeous materials, stone.
It felt like it had been there from the beginning of time.
Early on, we talked about the movie having a timeless feel, so that the period could
feel a little bit blurred.
And they let us come in and own it for about a month, so that we could dress it, shoot
it, eventually strike it.
Go, mark.
It's about 200 feet from the entrance to the exit, so it gives us a lot of space to be
able to fill it with all the people that would realistically be in a newsroom of this size.
This is another little detour.
An old-fashioned and original telephone booth.
We kind of thought it was a fun little nod to Clark Kent running on the street, hopping
into a little telephone booth, coming out of Superman.
I can show one more thing outside.
Just a little cheat we have to do, because we are on the ground floor here.
We built a little false rooftop here, just to kind of help hide where our scenes would
be.
I mean, this set is amazing.
Incredible.
It has the most incredible bathrooms I've ever seen.
Somebody could shoot an entire movie in the bathrooms.
And we are, later.
Marvel.
Are we?
No.
That's just you and me.
I was in the Daily Planet.
I decided to sit in Clark Kent's chair and just look around at what was there.
And on the corkboard, there are notes to himself.
So there are teeny Easter eggs to the older movies or to the comics that are all over
this movie.
Our grandfather is Jerry Siegel, the creator of Superman.
This is Jerry, and this is Joanne, our grandmother, who was the model for Lois Lane.
The level of detail, the appreciation for the history, it really shows a lot of passion
for that original take on the character.
You're never really going to see little things like that, but when you have so many people
working on your set who care that much, that really infuses the whole movie with their
spirit.
Lex is holding Superman in a pocket universe.
I love you, Jimmy Olsen.
I love you.
Love you.
There's Perry, and Cat Grant, and Steve Lombard.
It's crazy to be taking these characters who I've read since I was a kid, and to have this
cast playing them and doing it fantastically has really been fun.
Here we have Ron Troop.
One of the best editors.
Oh, he's not an editor.
He's still on the national desk.
One day he might be an editor.
Better look out.
Steve Lombard.
Can you put Persephone on the phone?
She will care.
Cats know the sound of your voice.
Buckle up, kids.
Why don't I have a seat?
Cat Grant back there.
Yes, on set.
Yeah.
Over here we have Jimmy Olsen.
Skyler was at the top of my list for Jimmy, and he's gone beyond my expectations.
This is where the magic happens.
What are you doing?
It's friendly when she does this.
She doesn't mean her tone.
Jimmy, shut up.
Got it.
Lois Lane.
Lois is always moving fast.
She's always moving forward.
I party like a rock star, Choir Boy.
How's it going with that guy you were seeing?
We have Clark Kent's space.
David and Rachel had a different sort of energy that bounced off of each other.
As Clark, I like to throw some stuff around and drop stuff.
I don't think there's anything funny about good journalism, Lois.
Uh-huh.
Yeah, front page.
You know, of course, Perry White has his own office.
You're kidding.
Wendell was an actor I've really loved ever since The Wire, so it was great working with
him.
It's going to be a high watermark in my career, and personally, it was exciting to be on set
as a fan.
Post a story.
Fast.
The Daily Planet.
I'm the boss.
Yeah, it's true.
Whatever he says, I'll do.
I'll do.
Yeah, that's it.
Total respect.
Nothing but respect.
That's right.
Looks kind of cute with that mustache.
Rant.
Troop.
Come on.
The Daily Planet staff, I just can't wait to show more of those guys.
These are characters that people love, and seeing them come to life through actual human
beings is an amazing process to be a part of.
Oh, man.
It's going to be perfect.
Perfect.
It's going to be amazing.
