Now, the Barry Richard Show.
>> All right, welcome back to hour number
three on this Friday, boys and girls. It
is, what is it? It is 207 right now.
mostly sunny skies here in town. And um
so the kids go back to school yesterday
and they go yesterday, today, and then
are out again for the long weekend,
which is okay. I guess maybe it's
indoctrination, maybe it's just, you
know, try to get the kids uh used to it
a little bit at a time, but I remember
when I was in school, we used to go like
after Labor Day, right? We'd go back
after Labor Day and um
the day after Labor Day, as I recall. So
we'd go on the Tuesday and you spend the
whole week there and you know it was
immediate. You met you met your 170 year
old female teacher and I got your stack
of books and and that was it. Your
homework tonight first night and that
was the end of the drill, right? But um
anyway, good luck to all the kids going
back to school this year. Listen, um we
mentioned it, talked about it a little
bit earlier in the week and just kind of
set it up for you just before the top of
the hour, but if you're just tuning in,
there's a um an Air Force veteran
um with no criminal record, no violent
actions, being detained without bail for
possession of a firearm without a
license here in Massachusetts. And we're
talking about um Kyle Kulana
and um he was um ordered held
I think it was June 27th
uh Worcester Superior Court judge
um held a dangerousness hearing or
determined that he was dangerous. Kyle
was dangerous and has ordered him held.
He's been held since then. Uh, the Gun
Owners Action League has picked up um
Kyle's case and attorney Dan Hagen and
his legal team have filed an emergency
petition before the Massachusetts
Supreme Judicial Court um either for his
release um or at least
u that he be given bail.
And um joining me on the line right now
is I'm I'm hoping I'm pronouncing this
right. Um, Sar, is is that how you
pronounce your name?
>> Very close. It's Sonda. Thank you for
having me.
>> Thank you. And and you are the fiance of
of Kyle Colada. First of all, how's he
doing?
>> Uh, Worcester County is not a very nice
place. He's finding and he's it's been
two months, so not going to lie, he's
struggling in there, but um he knows
that,
you know, he's more of a political
prisoner. He didn't do anything wrong.
Um, what we got pulled over for was
failure to yield at 9:30 at night in
Gardener, which is a small town. There
are about three cars on the road at the
time we failed to yield and um because
my insurance had expired. I have trouble
with paperwork sometimes, but which I
got taken care of the next day, but it
just gave them license to look in the
car and he was honest about what we had
in the car, which was everything we
owned. We had literally just got back to
Massachusetts from Arizona the day
before. So, they arrested him for
possession without having a license to
carry. Uh, but in Arizona and like in
New Hampshire and I think 27 other
states, it's a constitutional carry
where you're, you know, your rights as
an American citizen, that is your
license to carry. But that is not the
case here in Massachusetts, which we
>> So what was the reason why they pulled
why why did they pull you over? Because
that the sticker on your your license
plate had expired or something?
>> Well, because we originally it was
because we failed to yield, but then
they can just run your plates in
Massachusetts. Like they you don't need
to actually do anything for them to pull
you over. They could have just read my
plates, but they said it was for failure
to yield.
>> All right. And it was an Arizona plate
or a Massachusetts plate? Massachusetts
plate.
>> Massachusetts plate. Now, you guys had
been living in Arizona and you decided
to move back to Massachusetts. So, you
were back in Massachusetts a day before
this went down. This happened and um so
Kyle was arrested and when they looked
in the car um he he didn't try to hide
anything. He didn't try to cover
anything. He actually identified the
weapons and showed them to the police.
>> Yeah, he did. They asked him and he was
honest. um they saw originally they saw
ammo boxes and in the police report he's
like we saw ammo boxes and that's why we
looked in the rest of the car. So it
just you know these were investments
that we had made and you know some
heirlooms they were misrepresented in
the police report as all being these
like very scary dangerous weapons when
in reality they were not. One was in the
plastic still. Uh you want to add a
raffle legal everything was legal. There
was um something in there that belonged
to his grandfather and you know plet
guns, BB guns and just
they made it sound really really
terrible. But the fact is that there was
no crime committed at the time that we
were stopped. He has never committed a
crime. Kyle Wayne is a gentle man. He
has never committed a crime in his life.
He honorably served in the Air Force as
did his grandfather. He reached rank of
colonel and you know he did his time
over there and he went to Bosnia and
Korea and Germany and you know his
public defender mitigated his service by
saying well he never saw combat well you
know he looked out the window so
>> I don't know why where why you would say
that but just from the get-go it's been
I think his rights have been just
trampled on
>> so where the these guns were were were
transported from Arizona into
Massachusetts as part of your move here.
Okay. And these were these were guns
that were um if I understood you
correctly that that um that Kyle
received from you said family heirlooms.
So the these had been previously owned
by members of his family.
>> Yes. Yep. They had one of his
grandfathers. Um, also like like I said
the there was one rifle that we had won
in an auction that you know because he's
a Arizona resident with an active CDL
and an active guard card, he served at
some very prestigious posts in Arizona
as a security guard um guarding very
very wealthy people and um you know
being a resident through an FFL we could
have sold some of those things. So there
was really there was nothing illegal or
ill going on in the car that night that
they would have to hold him for like you
said 2 months. No possibility of bail.
No bail. Where that guy in Boston that
just got pulled over because he turned
his Glock into a machine gun and then
tased a cop. He got out on bail. He's
got felonies. You know, it's
>> so so let me ask you. So, so, um, how
did you come to contact the, uh, the Gun
Owners Action League? How did they come
to be involved in this?
>> Well, I after he was in there for a
couple weeks and the public defender
said that, well, we're going to say
you're mentally ill and you'll never
touch another gun again in your life and
you'll only do three to four years in
prison. Sound good? That was her deal.
So, I became
>> That was a plea deal. Not to interrupt
you, but that was a plea deal that was
offered to you by the Worester County
District Attorney's Office.
>> Um, that was offered to Kyle Wayne. She
did not have the bandwidth to speak to
me, she told him. And it's because I was
sending her things like, "Hey, Bruin was
decided 3 years ago. Donald is still
working through the court. What about
Marquee?" Like, there's been precedent
set that says like the state can't
supersede the rights of a resident of
another state, but it's being chosen to
be ignored. So, I was just a letterw
writing machine. I wrote, if you're a
member of the GOP in Massachusetts and
you did not get a letter from me uh two
months ago, I'm sorry I missed you, but
a lot of people did. And the very first
time I actually got to go in and visit
him in Worcester County, I came out of
the car to a voicemail from Jim Wallace
and told him like, "This is what
happened. You know, they're not they're
not looking at Breuin." He said, "We've
been trying to get them to look at Bruin
for three years." I said, "Well, here
you go. Here's your poster boy. this guy
has done nothing wrong. I was giving
them our his our license information,
our social security. I said, "Look us
up. We're not perfect people, but
there's no skeletons in either of our
closets that would warrant two months in
jail." Which, by the way, they just left
me on the side of the road in Gardener.
They, you know, I wasn't dangerous.
>> Wow. So, the um the information that
I've received on this um uh indicates
that one of the um one of the one of the
weapons was a a large capacity weapon.
What exactly does that mean? What what
what kind of weapon was it?
>> Uh I don't know exactly what they're
referring to. Um I couldn't say but I
know that when you refer to a large
capacity and there's a lot of people on
the gun tube YouTube side of things that
just make fun of it when people say
large capacity. It means anything over
11 rounds, 11 bullets. If it can hold
11, it's a high capacity. So that's all.
Anything under 10 is fine. And I think
maybe the one they're referring to held
11 if that's the one I'm thinking. But
yeah, that's what they'll say. It's a
high capacity, so that makes it that
much more dangerous. It means you have
anything over 10 rounds.
>> So, not to embarrass you or uh or Kyle,
but again, the information that um I was
uh provided is that when you when you
moved back to Massachusetts, uh you were
essentially homeless. you were living
out of your car and you were selling you
were delivering food uh for one of the
food app things, Uber Eats or one of
those kind of things in order to try to
make some money to get back on your
feet.
>> And uh so so everything you had was in
the car, including the guns,
>> right? Like I said, we only got into
state 30 hours before and it was still
unclear, are we going to stay in
Massachusetts? We want to try to go to
New Hampshire. like, but we had friends
lined up to stay with and um we had
places to be until we could figure that
out. And like I said, one of those could
have been sold for a significant amount
of money in New Hampshire and that we
could have been set up, you know, right?
>> So instead of we rolled into town with
nothing. Yeah. We were door dashing. I
got paid the next day, which is why my
insurance got paid the next day. So I
got paid on Wednesday. This all happened
on Tuesday night. And we were door
dashing for a few bucks. Um, and yeah,
everything we had was in the car. This
wasn't like we're we're doing van life.
This is so fun. We were on a road trip.
We packed up everything we owned in
Arizona, brought it over here so I could
be closer to my family and my son and
um live a quiet life with a man that I
love, that I've known for over 20 years.
We've known each other since 2004.
Um, but then literally a day a day into
this.
>> Welcome to Massachusetts. Yeah. Welcome
to
>> the People's Republic of Morahily.
You've just you've just landed on a
whole other planet. So, the gun owners
action.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead.
>> No, I'm sorry. The the gun owners action
league then set you up with an attorney,
Dan Hagen. Is that is that how that went
down?
>> Dan Hagen and the man that Dan Hagen
would entrust his life to, Dan Kelly.
So, they are an amazing set of Dans. um
they go reached out to them first and
you know it got a little dose of harsh
truth from Dan Hagen at first like this
is a tough case but because it's so
egregious and because you know it just
it shows that chapter 135 works exactly
as it's designed. Toby Liry will tell
you all about that. Works exactly how
it's designed. Right? This is a feature
not a bug that a good guy
a good guy who happened to have a gun
got wrapped up in this. So that's why
they're helping out. Um, so we have Dan
and Dan, Dan Hagen, Dan Kelly, and their
whole team just fighting for us. And in
return, we are fighting with them
because
we're not taking this laying down. Like
chapter 135, it was snuck in through the
dead and night. It was there's all sorts
of things wrong with how the bill was
even passed. They don't know what
they're even talking about in most of
it. So, if we can help take that law off
the books next year, that's what we're
doing. So, that is our that's what we're
devoted to now. Um, number one, get Kyle
Lane out of jail because he is
languishing in there. It
>> sucks in Worcester County. Excuse me.
But it it's just
>> so we we are
>> supposed to be a temporary place. Yeah.
You know, and it's 30 years old. So,
what we're talking about um what you're
talking about here, the law is the is
the law that Toby Liry and Bill Bashant
and others have been fighting. Uh they
got the the the question on the ballot
next year so that the the voters can go
and determine whether they think this is
a uh a good law or not, and they'll be
able to get to vote on that law uh next
year, whether they want to repeal it. Um
and this is the the new law that is what
really snagged Kyle, right? The
provisions in this new law. Yeah.
>> Right. That's exactly why it's the
dangerousness statute is what's holding
him. So if you have something that is of
a high capacity, then you're
automatically considered dangerous. So
they didn't look at any of his record.
They didn't look at his service record.
They didn't look at his criminal record,
of which there is none. Let me remind
you, no crime ever committed in his
life. He would not have been able to get
his CDL or his guard card if this was a
bad ombre. Like this man is an American.
He's from Arizona. He's a cowboy. like
he he's in the military. He's he's he's
not of Massachusetts. And they're
they're just punishing him, it seems
like, for no good reason other than
like, well, this line here says, "Okay,
but there's discretion at every angle
that has been ignored. Discretion by the
cop, discretion by one of the six or
seven cops that was there that night
because, you know, we're so dangerous
that we were both locked up. Oh, I'm
sorry. Only one of us." um you know, to
the judges, to the pro to the public
defender, and I hold her accountable,
too. That kind of deal, that's no deal.
How are you going to go to somebody that
just rolled into this state, didn't do a
thing wrong, and say, "Well, good news.
You'll only spend 3 to four years in
prison, and you'll have a serious mental
illness follow you on your record for
the rest of your life. Oh, and you'll
never touch another gun." We like to go
to the range. I've been down the Cape
Gunworks a couple times now, and it's
fun. I'm sorry. Like I want my kid to
learn safety. I want him to know the
power of these instruments that you can
hold in your hand and point at something
and make it go boom.
>> You know, that's not nothing. You need
to respect that. And that's how I'm
raising my kid,
>> you know, not to be afraid of it. So,
back um in in mid August, um there was a
um a motion filed for actually an
emergency petition before the
Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in
order to have have Kyle released
immediately or for bail to be set
because he's been denied bail. What What
has gone on with that? Has it can't be
they can't be taking it as much of an
emergency up at the SJC because it is
already the 29th, which is what about 16
days or so since this was filed. Um, but
what is the status on that?
>> No, I know as much as you do about the
status of this right now, Barry. There
is no news and um, you know, Dan Hagen
is really good about keeping me updated.
So, we don't know anything else. It's
sitting in a single judge's hands as far
as we know. and they're looking over it
to see, you know, what happened, what
what could have gone wrong, you know,
um, and take a look with some fresh eyes
and say like, okay, this guy did not get
what he deserved. Like, what happened to
him is not okay. Let's send him home,
say we're sorry, and,
you know, move on from this. Like, the
summer's almost over. I haven't got to
hang out with my best friend one time.
It has been struggle all the way here
and then as soon as we get here we feel
like we can breathe. Nope.
>> Yeah. Now you should have said I love
Arizona personally. What part of Arizona
is your husband from?
>> Uh he's from like southern Phoenix. So
like Mesa area, but we were living up
towards the Anthem area which is if you
know Arizona, there's that loop around
it. Um so north of that where the buses
didn't go, so it was still real nice.
>> Yeah. Um, but it was it's beautiful. I I
absolutely loved it there. But I have a
son here I need to be here for. Um, but
he likes to travel, too. So,
>> yeah. Yeah. I referred to Kyla, your
husband, you feel say, um, so as soon as
you hang up and we move on, I'm going to
get some calls and they're going to say,
"Well, look, um, what part of the law
don't they understand? They had guns and
the law said that you got to have a
license to carry guns, so therefore they
get what they deserve." How do you how
do you respond to that? I say the laws
are illegal, more illegal than what was
going on in that car. He's protected.
Unless you commit a violent crime with a
gun,
I don't understand the
>> or any car with a gun.
>> If you commit any crime with a gun,
like, okay, you don't get rights. All
right, this is a very serious
responsibility. So unless you do that,
unless you prove yourself to be
irresponsible and a dangerous person,
you know, if there's red flags, which is
another thing, that's not, you know,
that's not perfect either. But I say the
laws are illegal. And I say we need to
take a look at them. And I have had
people say that to me, family members
say that to me, well, Sandra, if you
didn't do anything illegal, why is he in
jail? Well, I would love to know the
answer to that, too. That is my question
as well. So, as you can imagine, it has
been very difficult um this whole two
months. Uh we're both struggling and we
have a give sends go. It's free Kyle
Wayne. If people can check that out, um
we need support and we're not taking it
for granted and we're using a lot of
that to fight back. Like I'm out there,
the reason Bill hooked us up, Barry, is
because I showed up at his shop with a
with a handful of flyers. Like I'm out
hitting the streets. I'm just looking up
gun stores near me and making a loop and
going to as many as I can um to put a
human face on this. Like these laws
aren't written in a vacuum and real
regular people are affected by them and
I want people to know that.
>> So how can people help out?
>> How can people help out
>> besides voting to the polls and voting
next year, right?
>> Uh well that yes, that's a big one. And
if you work or frequent a gun shop in
Massachusetts anywhere, expect to see me
in my orange hat show up with some
flyers one of these days cuz I'm going
to um but give free Kyle Wayne is the
best place. Wayne and Diane.com. Someone
I had someone build us a website because
I've been doing some interviews and
videos and to keep everything in one
place. But follow me on X. I'm at Diane
Ravier. Ravier like Ravia. Uh, and yeah,
and just keep praying and talk to people
about this story. You know, we're going
to be out at cookouts and celebrating
with our friends and maybe even firing
off some guns legally. So, talk to your
friends about what is going on with Kyle
Wayne in Worcester County and because we
need people to understand that, like I
said, these laws that are written in
vacuums and back rooms by people that
don't know what the f they're doing,
quote our president. I you know I've
seen no people
>> I've seen no coverage of this anywhere.
The press is not touching this. Right.
I've not seen any
>> because Massachusetts looks bad. They
look bad. That's why.
>> Yeah.
>> So if you're inclined to call in radio
shows, call Channel 5, call Call ABC,
call Fox, call these places and ask them
why aren't you covering this? Because
I'll tell you why. It's first of all, no
one believes that this is all that
happened. Like, well, he had to be doing
something else. Did he turn that Glock
into a machine gun and paint it like a
joker and tase a cop? No. None of that.
There's literally no more to this story.
We were just driving and I'm sure no one
has ever failed to pay their insurance
before and got
>> Well, the collective media Yeah, the
collective media in Massachusetts
doesn't have the brain power to blow
itself to hell anyway. So, um there's
that. And they pretty much just parrot
back what the uh you know what the
comedon up on Beacon Hill says anyway.
So, um the days of a of a good uh media
that that actually investigates
something, those days are long gone. But
I appreciate Bill Bashant bringing this
to my attention and um sir, I appreciate
you coming on the air today. Would you
do us a favor and stay in touch with us?
Let us know how this is working out.
>> Absolutely. Like I said, I'm going to be
updating on on X. Diane River is where
I'm usually just posting um because it's
the easiest way. There's a lot of
independent media in Boston and that's
why we are getting some attention and
they can't ignore everybody. Um, so if
you're an independent journalist here, I
Mike Urban covered this on his show too,
which was great. And then some some
other gun tubers, Guns and Gadgets, Cam
and Co. uh, Liberty Doll covered this.
So if I miss them, I'm sorry. But if you
see if you see coverage and it's not on
my X feed, please share it with me. Um,
my DMs didn't used to be open, but they
are now for Friendly Patriots, and I
have found a lot of them here in
Massachusetts. It has been a very
welcoming community. Bill and I have
become very fast friends and we've met
twice and
>> awesome.
>> He's a wonderful guy.
>> Son, I got to get a break and um again,
stay in touch with us. Good luck with
this and uh we want to know what's
happening and so at some point maybe
we'll be able to get Kyle on the air
with us, but uh you know, you've got my
number. Stay in touch with me and we'll
uh we'll continue to update the public
on this.
>> Absolutely. Thank you so much for having
me, Barry. I appreciate it.
>> No problem. All right, I'm going to hit
the break. 508960500.
Stay with us. We're coming back after
this on WBSM and we'll get your thoughts
on all of this and some other stuff too
that we've still got to put on the and
it is Labor Day and we appreciate you
being here and um Labor Day weekend.
Labor Day is actually Monday. 5089960500
is our phone number. And um
interesting story
and this is um the result of the um the
new law that was signed in that will be
on the ballot next year. Um you may
agree, you may disagree that um the law
is fair. Um,
I don't know whether it is or not, but
um,
I'm going to be doing a lot of listening
and a lot of speaking with people uh
that that are in the gun community
because I don't know a lot about guns.
Um
anyway, veteran uh Democrat strategist
Jim Cargill
blasting the Democrat National Committee
DNC
for opening its Minneapolis meeting
with a land acknowledgement that he said
accused the United States of
suppression,
calling it the kind of gesture that cost
Democrats elections.
Lindy Somic, who's treasurer of the
Minnesota Democrat Farmer Labor Party
and a self-described indigenous queer
woman, open the acknowledgement by
honoring the Dakota
Oyata as the original stewards of
Minneapolis
for thousands of years before
colonization.
She pointed to a legacy of broken
treaties and promises, adding, "In many
ways, we still live in a system built to
suppress indigenous people's culture and
spiritual history."
Carville spoke about the display on his
uh politics war room podcast
with co-host Al Hunt,
lamenting that the Democrat party did
not seem to have learned anything from
recent debates
and defeats.
Carville has long criticized Democrat
embraces of wokeness
and said it contributed to their 2024
election loss. Lady, you're right. what
we did to the Native Americans was
really been well documented. It is a sad
part of our nation's history," he said
before suddenly shouting, "why are you
bringing this up in an election."
Carville argued that America has all
kinds of dark history, but emphasize
this is an election and the DNC is not
the place to discuss this. Understand
this. The DNC does not exist to write
wrongs. It doesn't exist to acknowledge
the more unpleasant parts of history. It
doesn't exist to make people feel good.
It exists
just get it through your head to win
elections.
Now, do you think that's going to help
us win elections?
say like we did in Iowa,
"Please stop this in the name of a just,
merciful God."
Crabel pleaded,
"Don't you see what's happening? Don't
you see where this is brought us to? For
God's sakes, lady, and what is DNC
Chairman Ken Martin doing that for?
You don't have but one job, kid. It's to
win.
Qual argued that while the activist who
made the acknowledgement may be a
perfectly nice person in real life, that
has nothing to do with it. You're
supposed to try to win effing elections.
The DNC's National Party Convention in
Chicago um held ahead of the 2024
election also included a land
acknowledgement.
During that recitation, the speakers
blamed the US government for forcibly
removing tribal people from their land.
the um
they don't get it.
You know, the problem with the the
Democrat party right now, one of many,
is that they become um causeoriented.
You got to be people oriented. You know
what's going on on the other side?
Donald Trump's out there fighting crime.
Fighting crime. Sending in the National
Guard to fight crime. Get drug dealers,
carjackers, murderers off the street.
What are the Democrats doing?
They're bitching about land that the
Indians lost hundreds of years ago. That
doesn't win elections. That alienates
people. That's not telling your base.
That's not telling uh people in America
that you want to vote for you what
you're going to do about their issues.
In the meantime, you are opposing
Trump's crime fighting efforts.
Trump passed tax cutting legislation,
removing social security taxes, and a
whole bunch of other things. Democrats
opposed it, didn't vote for it.
What are they doing now? They're at
their um belly aching that transgenders
are being picked on.
That doesn't win elections. People want
lower taxes. They want their money. They
want lower prices. They want safe
streets. They want to close the borders.
They want their daughters to go pee
without men learing at them.
But the progressive liberal Democrat
party has um has lost its way.
They're not talking about the issues
that people care about. You know, when
you got these Democrats that are out
there, Pritsker and Johnson and uh and
uh all of the rest, Mora Healey, and
they're all yelling and screaming,
"We're going to resist your efforts to
fight crime."
That doesn't help Democrats win
elections because the people don't want
you to resist that. Again, an AP North
poll this week, 81% think that crime is
a major issue
in the major cities in this country. And
that includes Boston, that includes
Minneapolis, that includes Chicago, that
includes all of them.
They don't want to hear you complaining
about the Indians having their land
stolen. They want you to tell them what
they're going to do to fix crime. What
are you going to do better than Trump to
fix crime?
You're telling the people, "Oh, the
National Guard, you got to send the
National Guard in because it well, it
makes them feel bad."
And the voters say, "Yeah, but it's
working.
It's making me feel good. I feel good. I
don't have to worry about getting raped,
murdered, or or mugged on the street."
You know, as far as I'm concerned, I
hope the Democrats continue to talk
about Indians, especially with uh queer,
what was it? I've lost the
designation for her.
I don't know. Queer Indian. I I can't
recall what what the t what the uh name
of her dysphoria was, but um
here we go. Indigenous queer woman.
Indigenous queer woman.
So when you go on and you speak about
these
idiotic
issues that aren't really issues to the
voters, um this is what pandering does.
So, you might win all of the votes from
the indigenous queer
women, but you're going to lose the
normal mothers that are that are out
there worried about kids getting getting
killed on the way home from soccer
practice or whatever.
I I don't know when they're going to get
it. I hope they don't. And I hope they
just continue down this road.
Keep going. 58960500.
We're back.
>> All my friends are small town.
My parents live in the same small town.
My job is a small town.
>> And welcome back. It is 2:45 now on a
Friday afternoon. Not just any Friday.
It is the kickoff of Labor Day weekend.
Could be a shower or thunderher rolling
through later on uh this afternoon,
maybe into the um uh maybe into the
evening. There's a whole bunch of them
that are like west of here, but they're
pretty much staying there and heading
north and uh there was a severe
thunderstorm earlier uh mostly in the
Rhode Island area, but that is gone by
the board. Uh but we could see we could
see maybe a thunderstorm. Uh the ABC 6
weather center says anything that does
uh affect our area will be quick moving
and get in and out. And uh the weather's
going to clear out tonight. It's going
to be gorgeous for the weekend. It's
going to be really nice. By the way, did
you know that Bill Galvin has been
governor since yesterday?
Bill Galin has been governor since at
least yesterday, I guess, right? Um
couple of days anyway, because both Mora
Healey and our um esteemed lieutenant
governor
have been out of town. Kim Driscoll
and um
one of them was well the way the the
line of succession works in
Massachusetts is if Mor Hilly leaves or
the governor leaves the state, the
lieutenant governor steps in and becomes
acting governor. And if the lieutenant
governor leaves, they're both out of the
state. then the secretary of state uh
becomes the acting governor.
So, Bill Galvin has been um
the acting governor
because both Healey and Driscoll were
out of town. Where they were, we don't
know. We don't know. They don't tell us.
Galvin's office said at about 1:45
yesterday that Galvin has been informed
that he is now serving as acting
governor and expects to serve in that
role until Friday afternoon
when the governor is away.
As I mentioned, official duties fall to
the lieutenant governor when both are
out of town. Um goes to the secretary of
state Healey's office.
We just made a practice to not disclose
out of state travel in advance. Did not
immediately respond to a question about
Healey and Driscoll's whereabouts
yesterday. Tuesday was the last day that
Healey's office actually listed any
public events for the governor. So, she
may have been out of town since Tuesday.
And we just don't know. They don't tell
us these things. You don't have a right
to know. You don't have a right to know
how many shots were fired on Ashley
Boulevard at Dutton Street week and a
half ago.
You don't have a right to know the
governor's out of the state.
Yeah. The folks in the south end though,
they do have a right to know that. Well,
that's the FBI, not so you can come out.
Uh because the New Bedford Police
Department keeps them informed of all of
those things, right? We got you covered.
Don't worry about it, folks.
5089960500,
you're up next on WBSM. Good afternoon.
>> Good afternoon, Barry. How you doing?
>> Good. How are you?
>> All right, thank you. Um, I wasn't able
to call in earlier, but I wanted to make
a comment about that uh so-called uh
January 6 insurrection.
>> Yes.
>> Well, there was, as we know, there was a
lot of shady stuff going on. And um why
was that cop waving everybody into the
Capitol building like it was open house
day for one?
>> Yeah.
>> Um even the chief of the Catholic
police, Steven Sun, came to the
conclusion that it was a setup and he
wrote a book about it. And as a matter
of fact, the day Tucker Carlson was
going to air his interview with
Stephenson was the very day Fox fired
him.
>> And uh isn't that interesting? Yep.
>> So, so Tucker Carlson, you know, he had
to reinter him for his own podcast that
he has now or show because the first
interview was the property of Fox and we
know the Murdoch who own or run Fox hate
Trump. So, you know, that's it in a
nutshell.
>> Well, there there are so many unanswered
questions here. I mean, we had this dog
and pony show and the second impeachment
about this and all that and Nancy Pelosi
rigged the, you know, the piano only
allowed certain ones that, you know,
that could serve and uh on the
questioning and all that kind of stuff.
But we we still have not been told who
planted the bombs, pipe bombs the night
before, you know, the Republican and and
Democrat National Committee offices in
Washington. They know that there's a
camera on every light post in Washington
DC, but yet they weren't able to find
out who uh planted these bombs, right?
We don't know. We we were told a couple
of dozen FBI agents were all over the
the grounds over there as you mentioned.
Police officers opening the doors,
letting people in. We know Trump told
Pelosi um she could have the National
Guard. She refused. The mayor refused.
Everybody refused. So, I mean, this
thing stinks like a um you know what.
And um I don't know if we'll ever learn
the truth. I hope we will.
>> Yeah, I I I do too. And what about uh
the attempted assassinations on Trump?
You don't know anything about those
people neither.
>> You know, it's it's ter it's terrible.
>> Yeah.
>> But anyway, you have a great weekend.
Thank you.
>> Thank you. Appreciate it. 5089960500.
We do know that Ashley Babbett was
killed at close range, right? Ashley
Babbett was killed by a um And you got
to wonder why. Why was Ashley Babbitt
shot at close range unarmed? She weighed
all of 97 pounds wet, right? and they
felt the need to silence her, put her
put her out of, you know, just um and
nothing ever happened to the office of
the capital cop that that did. I
understand he was a rental cop if I
remember. I don't recall that to be
certain. No, but just trying to uh
because um
had something on Ashley Ber today. See
if I can find it in my big old pile of
stuff over here.
Ah, damn it. I know it's in here
somewhere.
I was born in a small town.
Yeah, here we go. Ashley Babbot. Um,
Air Force decided to extend military
funeral honors
to a deceased senior airman Ashley
Babbot
who was shot and killed by a police
officer during the Capitol riot on
January 6, 2021. You know, we hear all
of this stuff in the fake news media and
from the Democrats about, oh, the people
who died on the only one who died was
Ashley Babbett.
The decision came after the Air Force
leadership during the Biden
administration previously denied the
request shortly after Babbot was killed.
The decision also comes on the heels of
a wrongful death settlement reached in
July which resulted in the government
paying the Babbitt family nearly $5
million.
wrongful death suit. On behalf of the
Secretary of the Air Force, I write to
extend the offer to military funeral
homes
uh
for Ashley Babbot um stated in August
15th letter uh from the under secretary
of the Air Force sent to Babbot's
husband Aaron.
The Air Force after reviewing the case
has offered military funeral honors
to Babbot's family. An Air Force
spokesman confirmed in a statement um
she was shot and killed by a US Capitol
police officer as she was attempting
to forcibly gain access to the Capitol
chambers during the events of January 6.
Roughly 3 months later, the Department
of Justice announced it would not be
pursuing criminal charges against the
officer who shot Babbot.
So there you have it. That's January 6.
My big memory of January 6. You know,
January 6 was horrible. It was stupid. I
said it at the time I was watching it
live here on the monitor and I
describing it to you as it was happening
that day. I was on the air. It was
happening right during my shows all
unfolding. And it was stupid. It should
have never happened. But you had a bunch
of uh jug heads that bought the bait.
They took the bait. They went in there.
They broke the law. And you know, you
break the law, you got to be punished,
right?
But um
doesn't mean it wasn't a setup
because I think it was a setup
and it certainly wasn't an insurrection.
And they did everything they could to
lie, cheat, and steal to cover it up,
too. And we still don't know what really
happened that day.
I I do certainly hope we find out.
All right. at 5089960500.
Let me grab the last break. We're coming
right back after this. Stay tuned. You
are listening to WB.
>> All right. Welcome back. It is 2:58 on a
Friday afternoon. Yeah, we'll see you in
September because today is the 29th of
August. So, the next time we get
together on Tuesday, it will be
September. And I just absolutely cannot
get over that. It is Labor Day. Used to
be a very sad weekend for me. Still, I
feel that pit in my stomach. You know
why? because I hated going to school. I
hated school and but that's just me. I
wish I had liked it better because I'd
be a lot smarter than I am today. But um
um yeah, school it always meant the end
of summer. Jerry Lewis was going to cry
this weekend and everything. I was just
oh my god, it's just a a horrible time.
Horrible weekend. And if it rained, e
that was the end of it. But fortunately,
we've got some nice weather coming up.
Jerry Lewis will not be doing a
tellathon this year and I don't have to
worry about going back to school next
week. So, I'll be back with you guys,
though, uh right here front and center
on Tuesday of next week. Enjoy the long
weekend if you have it off. I know a lot
of folks will be working on Monday
still, but uh um we're going to be here
and um
looking forward to it and I'm sure
there'll be a lot of things happening
over the week. I know we'll be able to
talk about uh come Tuesday. All right,
we're going to wrap it. ABC News is
coming up next and um they will have I'm
not sure even really. I haven't been
paying a whole lot of attention to
what's been going on nationally today.
Um, but whatever it is, they will or
will not have it. And um, it's up to
you. And then it's WBSM News with Mike
Roberts. And then the ABC 6 weather
center forecast coming up right after
that for the weekend. And it's looking
pretty good. And then it's Howie Carr
from 3 until 6. And in Bri Thomas.
