One of the Most Powerful American Idol Auditions Ever

Well, who are you? My name is Kanan. I'm 17 years old, and I'm from Dallas, Texas. So you must be in high school. I got to graduate early, actually. Wow. You just got it done. Yes, sir. Any other crazy stuff you do down there in Dallas? I'm actually getting into preaching. That'll be coming up for me soon. Very good. Oh, great. Very good. You do not give off the air of a 17-year-old. You feel mature. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you so much. What motivated you to graduate high school early? So that I can go forth with my gift and do what God has called and chosen me to do. Cool. Which means he has commitment. Well, yeah. I did not have that in high school. Oh, no. Nor the tools to graduate early. What are you going to sing for us today? I'm going to be singing I Need Your Glory by Ernest Pugh. I love it. It's great. I need your glory. I want your glory. Less of me and more of you is what I need. I need your glory. I want your glory. And I need you, pal Less of me and more of you, Lord, is what I need So many times I've straightaway Rejected your love and your warm embrace I realize I need you more and more each day More each day Anybody in here need his glory I need your power Less of me and more of you, Lord, is what I need I need your glory Anybody need his glory It's everything that you need I need your glory I need your power Somebody less of me and more of you is what I need I need your glory Would you do that again? Yes, sir. That was powerful. Thank you so much. To God be the glory. You have been so blessed. You OK? No, I am not OK. Look where my seat is. I had to sit back here to listen. But that was something so spectacular. I just can't even describe what I heard. Go right ahead. Gary, take over. Yes. The words velvet, butter, like it was smooth but powerful. I'm like, where have you been the last 17 years? Smooth but powerful. I don't understand. Say it out loud. You have a gift. Thank you so much. Thank you for bringing your gift to us. For bringing your gift. I'm kind of speechless. Hallelujah. I've never seen anything like it, Lionel. Never seen anything like it. When you sing in church, what do people do? Do they just run to the baptism pit and jump in it and get saved immediately? So you're the inspiration I hear. What do you say? I didn't really know that. You're one of the reasons why he's here. Yeah, I did. He took the torch. Wow. Gary said like buttery, velvety, all the favorite food groups, butter pecan, ice cream, barbecue. Barbecue. I mean, oh, yes. Let me think about it. Yes. Lionel, what are you ready to do? Yes, son. He's going to run the aisles. He's going down. We open our church tomorrow. What are you ready to do, Lionel? Oh. Are we ready? Yes. This is a platinum ticket. What does a platinum ticket do, Lionel? This means you go all the way to heaven. Just bring the whole thing. This platinum ticket, son. He preaching, Lionel. It means you can bypass the first round of Hollywood and you get to sit back and watch all the people you're going to slay. I present this to you from the heavens above. Wow. You are now a platinum winner. There's only three of these that go out. Thank you.
