🌸 I got an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Garden Crossings in Michigan, one of the most beautiful Proven Winners growing partners — and I caught something on camera you won’t believe! From rows of hydrangeas and perennials to the magical butterfly house, this tour was full of surprises.
We're going in. Look at that guy just going chomp chomp chomp.
All right, we made it to Garden Crossing as you can see right there. We're having a private tour.
It's not closed. It's not open until September 5th, but it's really windy. Let me show you.
We're gonna get to go inside there and take a look and then I swear even the parking lots here
look amazing. Then this is the group doing the tour and then over here this is I had to come
letting a whole bunch more light in there so this weekend it got trimmed up. So a lot of the
flocks look a little bit in right now. It's because they're trying to grow in shade. So once
we trimmed up the branches it'll let a lot more sun in and that will just help. So many of those
because of the size. So these plants are three years old and I'm hoping they stay this three
tall. They were the most gorgeous magenta pink ever. They were so amazing. So this is my new
favorite. How do you pick your favorite child? I don't know. I just I like the size of it. Like
it's so much the size is so doable for like so many garden spaces you know. So tiara pink,
and the yellow one. The yellow is saffron finch.
Oh look how pretty the hydrangeas are. I really like this one.
Over there, polaro. They're all different.
And little trick fire.
So they all get the same height. So the thought was plant all the ones that get about the same
height and just this way we can show three more hydrangeas that aren't out in other areas of the
landscape. The thing that I think is quite interesting though is how they're all going
pink. It's going to go white.
I think I prefer bobo.
Why do you prefer bobo? I think bobo's a little more floriferous.
I would go bobo.
A little shoot at the end. I just don't because it's inconsistent.
Do it for you.
So this is our shipping barn. They just probably literally got done an hour ago.
At the end of the day we have probably about five or six people out in the greenhouses. They
have these little handheld computers and it will tell them a number. So they're going out and doing
a master pick. Usually gathering a thousand, twelve hundred plants in there. I'm Marshall
with Proven Winners. I've been with Proven Winners for 25 years. About 20 years ago I was surveying
all of our customers through our winner circle and one of the questions I asked for five years in a
row and still ask is how many of you buy a plant online? Less than one half of a percent of people
said that they buy a plant online. What you see here is actually a product that was never intended
to be sold to a consumer. This is a product called a quick turn. What Rod and Heidi did because
they're so close to Spring Meadow they said hey we can buy this stuff in will you allow us to sell
it. Over the years they made this product a better consumer plant. It's a really windy day
but you can see how beautiful they are. Welcome in. So they are closed right now.
This is the retail floor. There's plants all the way back over there. Accessories here.
They have some plants right now but they're gonna fill this. It's so bright and nice and organized.
These plants are so cool. I wish I had a garden center like this in LA by me but instead this is
Michigan. So I love that they shared how much care that they put into each plant. The whole
life cycle that it stays here at the nursery before it goes on to another nursery or
to your house. So they do online retail as well. I think this is their pollinator section right here.
You can see all that. Lots of wonderful plants. This is the summerific gorgeous plant
and let's go in there. We're going in. Look at this. It's really warm in here
but look at oh it smells so good. Look at all the butterflies. These two are mating.
They're mating. Oh there's so many. Look at how cute. All the caterpillars.
Then over here it's like you walk through and they're all just coming through.
Oh it's so cute in here. Now I want a butterfly tent. Look at that.
So you have petunias in here, verbena, sedums, obviously milkweed. Look at that guy just going
chomp chomp chomp. You have zinnias, butterfly bush. It smells just like butterfly bush. This
is a really big butterfly bush ahead of us. Look at that. Stunning. Here's a clip of the life cycle.
You can see from adults all the way around to chrysalis and then out.
They said they've already released a thousand in here. So amazing. So that's it for this video.
I hope you enjoyed exploring garden crossings and seeing all the proven winters varieties
that they grow. Comment below which ones you love the most and I'll see you in the next video.
