Good morning, guys. Welcome to slave
labor. Just joking. Welcome to fall. We
got pumpkins.
These are just two of the many that
we're going to be buying. Sam bought
these because they were on sale today.
You want to smash it?
>> Yeah.
>> I don't know about that.
>> But we're going to give the extras, like
the leftover to the goats and to the
horses. Anyway, Sophie is working on the
second part of our wood pile for this
winter. Ever since we moved into this
farm, every time I try and start
talking, there's like a noise. Hold on.
Okay. So, ever since we moved into this
farm, some of you guys have seen it.
Every time I've wanted something or
needed to do something, I found the
stuff that we needed around the
property. Like those rocks right there.
See those rocks? There's tons of them
all over this property. I found them to
make a rock garden. Once I wanted a
bench to put in the horse barn, the
horses destroyed it. I think it was
Penny or Lady. I think Penny. I found a
bench just sitting here on this porch. I
every time we've needed wood, like when
we first moved in, every time we needed
wood to build something because we were
building fixing the barns up for our
animals, we'd just go into the top of
the barn of the goat barn and we'd find
everything we needed. And it kind of
slowed down over time. But it hasn't
ended, you guys. Like still so much of
what I want to do, I just walk out and
say like, "Oh, I want to do this today."
And then I find it on this property. Let
me show you. Sophie uses used these band
these ice bandages. You put them in the
freezer and they turn to ice. She used
them. Our lady yesterday, she uses them
every time she jumps her. The last few
days I've been thinking about having our
babies, our b our goat babies, and
thinking like a lot of my friends don't
even breed in winter because they're
afraid of the cold weather affecting the
babies. We've been really lucky. Our
barn is really, really warm. It's
insulated and it's built into a hill and
it's wood and stone. I don't know. It's
just really warm. Like it's cold in the
mornings here now and when I go in in
the morning into the barn, I'm always
like freezing cold. Then when I walk
into the barn, it's just warm. It's like
walking into a home. It's so nice. So
anyways, I was thinking like this year a
lot of the insulation I've noticed has
come out. I'll show you when I get down
there. So I said to Sam, I'm like, "We
need to buy some insulation. I'm going
to stuff these spots again with
insulation and make it better and make
it warmer for this year. And you know
what he said? Oh, there's insulation in
the barn. Yep. That's what I mean about
this house. Literally,
everything you could ever want is just
here. So, that's the bag right there.
And I may need to buy more.
Shoot.
All right. I got it down.
So, this is it. It's a huge bag. Super
dusty from being in this barn. But I'm
going to get the girls to come
and help me
put this in. I'll show you guys where
I'm going to put it. And then I'll get
the girls to come down and help me. I'm
going to have to get gloves. I'm going
to have to find gloves for all of us,
though.
But it's not going to be beautiful. It's
not going to be a perfect job. It's not
going to be professional. We're just
going to shove it where I want it. I'll
show you. It's not for playing.
Oh, look at how sweet he is. He's making
up to Winston because he lost his best
friend. You little monster. Honestly,
he's so sneaky. All right, before I do
anything, I'm going to try and let this
guy out because
I don't think she let him. Did she let
you? I mean, he's calmer.
He was like, "Whoa,
why are you shaking? What's the matter?
Neither one of them is very happy. Come
on. Out you go. Go quick.
Come on. Out this way. Yeah, I know
you'd like to go out there.
Come on.
Out you go. Good boy. Now that was easy.
So, are you pregnant?
She's not very happy.
[Music]
Go quick because Posy's going to Oh my
You guys.
You guys. This is not fun.
It's not fun.
They're all in because of Posie. Let's
see if I can get them out. Pray for me.
Get out,
man.
Get out. Get out. Get out right now. Get
out.
Get out. Get out.
[Music]
Ow. Ow.
[Music]
Yeah, this is not fun for me either.
Out.
Get out.
[Music]
Out.
Out.
[Music]
This is not fun for me either.
Ouch.
Get out. Oh my god. Get out.
you guys.
[Music]
Okay, this is awful.
Absolutely awful.
Two left. The worst ones.
[Music]
Go
out
out.
Get out there. Get out.
Oh my god. You're fat.
[Music]
Wow. You almost made it. Now I see where
your mother gets it from.
Get out.
[Music]
Absolutely horrible. I think I hurt my
lip.
I like stuck my finger up goat's butts
by mistake. Try to push them out the
door. I got to wash my hands. I'll be
right back. That was wild. I don't know
if you guys have to see any of it
because the camera was up so high, but
it was awful.
Anyways, so I wanted to show you guys.
So this is the baby stall. We put this
up there. I don't know if you guys got
to see one of the babies try and jump
the wall. Yeah. Well, they can. So
that's why that's there. So this is the
stall. And it's This stall is not
insulated. It's in the middle of the
barn. That stall over there is not
insulated. That stall over there, which
should actually it might be. Actually,
it might be. I'm going to insulate that
one for sure. Okay. So, let me show you.
I'll go over there. I can even show you
right here. But see this wall? So both
of these walls that are outside walls
have insulation in them. Well, they did
have insulation in them. Oh, there was a
lot of insulation in them. Now it's just
spiderw webs. So this one and this one
over here,
this one's got insulation in it.
And then all the way in that stall, both
walls. So the stall is built away from
the
rock. And then you can just stick
insulation in there. And then just this
is Blossom and Toffee and Cricket stall.
And just that back wall
you can insulate. So it's just like the
outside walls. I love it because
it's such a good way to to make the barn
warmer. Like this barn, it stays cool in
the summer. It's 20° right now, 70°.
And outside it's scorching. And then in
the winter it stays really it stays
really nice. So this stall over here
that's going to be the baby stall. It
doesn't have insulation. Actually it
might I should you should open that door
and look in there. But there's a whole
room behind this stall. There's like a
whole room back there. There's like a
water closet and a tap and all like
different stuff. We I we should go in
there and look. Maybe next weekend we'll
do that. Anyways, so this one's not
insulated because there's stuff behind
it.
And then
in the pig stall, I don't know if I
could insulate that. I don't I don't
think I could insulate that. Looking at
all the work that I have to do, I don't
think that that's enough insulation, but
it's a good start. So, the girls and I
are going to get to to work doing that
today. And we're just going to start in
one stall and get it insulated so it's
warmer. We're going to shove it down
there with like a broom posy. Oh my
gosh, look at her.
She's either
sulking because she didn't get her way
because I got her out. And let me tell
you, it was hard. I had to fight her to
the death. And pigs can be mean, but or
people say they can be mean. And I have
seen pigs be mean, but let me tell you
that pig is not mean. I was like
fighting her and dragging her and
pushing her and not once did she fight
me. I should say not once did she bite
me cuz she sure did bite me. Oh, now you
want to make up. Yeah. Is that the
thing? You want to make up? You're
sorry. This is how she said she's sorry.
Trust me, that was not fun for me to
Posie. Anyway, I'm going to go and get
the girls and bring them back down here
cuz I didn't bring my phone. But before
I go, I just Oh my goodness. Why? What?
What's going on that it's such an It's
such a grouchy mood down here.
Hazel's like, "I really wanted that food
I found in there, Laura. Let me go back.
She's so little."
All right, let's just see.
Yep, you got good ligaments. I do it to
other goats to make her jealous.
I mean, she
they go soft and then hard and then soft
and hard and she only has one and it's
on that side. Let's take a look
underneath.
And she
she has nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
So,
every time I try and put my hands back
here and feel her belly, she runs away.
I can rub her. I can scratch her. I can
do all sorts of things to her, but I
cannot rub her belly, feel her belly for
a baby. I don't know if it's me or if
it's them, but there's like a lot of
stress in this field today. And you know
what it's probably from? It's probably
because Tilly was locked in there with
the boy. And actually, oh, she's here. I
was going to say I wanted to watch and
see if she goes back to the fence
because I don't know for sure that she
was even in heat. She was supposed to
come into heat today. She looked like
she came into heat yesterday. Lots of
times they go into heat a day early. You
all are devils.
All of you. This one just like her mom.
But my favorite thing is when they come
to me to protect them. Like if a goat's
going to push them off or they're afraid
of something and then they run to me and
they want me to protect them. Like
Toffee does it, Hazel does it, Oakley
does it, Cricket does it.
All my favorite girls.
Hi.
Oh, Posy's in heat. I saw her stalking
the fence line earlier on the camera.
She's the only one in heat today,
stalking the camera, and I she just laid
down in front of me, and it's obvious
that she's in heat. So, I'll forgive you
because we all know that you probably
are acting not like yourself because
your hormones. So, these nice girls,
Lola and Toffee, are trying to join
forces with this former mean girl.
They're like talking to her and and
cuddling up to her. Maybe she's still in
heat. Maybe she's in heat.
Yeah. Look it. She's in heat. Hopefully
she's bred. I don't know. They were
together for a day and a half, so they
better be bred.
She better be bread.
All right. Where is Gabby? Gabby is
coming. And where are we putting it?
I'll show you.
[Music]
And believe it or not, everyone came
down to help me.
>> Um, not really.
>> Maybe not happily, but they all agreed.
All right, pray. This is the perfect
stuff.
Sam says that you can't What?
You guys, you just drop it in. All
right, so I have spider webs on me. Uh,
it's so easy. We don't even need other
help. It'll be so fast. We're going to
need more bags of it, but we're going to
get more of this. So, look, you just
take up a pile. Take it.
Looks like there was a mouse in here.
So, you just take it and drop it in.
Sophie says, "We didn't do this last
year." And I'm like, I know.
Look at that.
It's amazing.
Well, I would recommend starting at the
end.
>> Yeah. Here, let me pull it down.
>> Put yours in there. It's perfect. It's
not just perfect.
>> Do we just have enough for one stall?
>> Yeah.
>> This is perfect.
>> We have all different mismatched gloves.
>> So, that wall is mostly done because
it's got so much hay behind there and
straw behind there. So, we did that
wall. That's perfect. Sophie did that
side.
>> Where is it?
>> We're going to do this one over here,
too.
>> I got gloves. Um, do that wall right
there. That's nice and thick. Do that
wall cuz that's where she sleeps.
>> Do the side.
>> Oh, Sam said that this side is under the
hill. Like you guys know this is this
part of the barn is built into a hill.
So instead we're going to do loving it.
>> Feels like it's ripping. Uhoh. Doesn't
fit.
>> It's fine. Shove it in there.
>> You said don't force it.
>> But you can force it to get rid of that
thing.
>> So the it had pink stuff in there.
There. There's pink stuff already in
there. And when we moved in, I pulled
some of it out because it was just kind
of hanging out and it was all like Yeah.
Just like that. See, look. Dad did it.
Perfect.
>> Yeah. Stick it in there.
>> Stick it in there in the middle.
>> It's full of a right there.
>> Yeah.
>> Put it in the Wait.
>> All right.
>> Put stuff in the middle.
>> So, that one I don't I don't think I
think these are the only two.
>> Those are all full with
>> It's kind of getting heavy.
>> Oh, it's heavy. I'm
>> throw it where? Throw it behind.
>> I don't know. We can cut that in half
there.
>> So, technically, we don't even need to
buy anymore because
>> that's all we really need. Put goats
away.
>> Yeah, let's put goats away. Everybody
complains about the gloves. I found
them. Like, the fact that we have winter
gloves today on the hottest day ever is
a miracle.
>> This is my glove.
>> I know. I've been I don't know. There's
two at the same end. Grab that other
end.
>> These are the gloves that I've been
using to get away with
>> Hold on. Don't pull it that much.
>> Yeah. Let me cut it.
>> I just feel better even just having that
little bit. But that stall in the front
um feels so much better.
>> We could even probably
>> I was going to say put it around the
window, but we need light.
>> Animals need light.
>> Nope. That's it. Do you think we need
more?
>> No. I'm just saying that there's more.
We got to use it all.
>> Yep. We used it all.
Perfect. Good job, team. It's on early
now.
>> What was it? Spiderweb. More goats are
in heat, so we're going to try and
switch everything around now and put
goats, boys in with girls that need to
be bred. So, that's the plan. Breeding
season is crazy. The barn is actually a
really stressful place right now. It's
noisy. Everyone's kind of out of sorts
with the whole breeding thing. This is
our nighttime routine. She even gives up
food for this. I even feel like she's
lost a little bit of weight from this.
Okay, I feel both ligaments. So, that's
another thing Sophie just brought up.
Tell them the plan.
>> What we should be doing is
>> breeding them all to Nico get
>> breeding them all to Nico and get half
pulled, half horned, and then breed the
pulled ones to Ziggy next year.
>> Oreo.
>> Oreo. Yeah, Oreo or Ziggy. I remember
last year we left little baby Ziggy in
with Tilly and we left him there for the
night and I just prayed he'd be alive
when we came down in the morning. But it
worked out. I don't feel as bad now
because he's so much bigger and he's
like the boss of her now. Even though
it's just a little thing insulating that
barn or just putting a little bit of
insulation in that barn, it makes me
feel so much better. Like I feel so much
better about it. I just I hate my
animals to be cold.
You're beautiful
just the way you are, just the way you
came. Don't you know that you're
beautiful?
