So this is the new iPhone 17.
If you missed my video yesterday,
I took a look at the 17 Pro Max, obviously in orange,
my favorite colorway of the bunch.
But a lot of you have said that the Sage looks really nice.
So this is available in five different colorway options,
like the standard ones, like black, the white, lavender,
blue, and obviously the fifth being the Sage.
So I've collected a couple of Sage things.
I got my trusty little Bulbasaur.
This is probably the device that you should upgrade to
for like 95% of you out there.
There's a few upgrades, which I think are really good.
The fact that the price hasn't actually changed
to this still is $799.
Canadian dollars, that's around like 1129, I think.
Whereas the Pro models have got a hundred dollar bump up.
So this will save you money.
It's got some good features.
Let's take a look at the box and enjoy the unboxing.
Obviously you see the design and the colorway of it.
Nothing much has changed from the actual like box design
as we slowly lift that up.
Checking that out for the first time,
kind of matches, you know, Bulbasaur.
Like I am team OG Bulbasaur as, you know,
my favorite Pokemon of the bunch.
And this would definitely be the color that I would get.
It looks really nice, not too saturated,
not too, you know, off color.
And the thing that I will have to say
compared to the Pro Max, which has that dual,
I guess like tone, you can see that this part here
for the Pros are glass, whereas the rest are aluminum.
On the back of the standard 17, that is all glass,
which makes it look really, really clean.
Obviously you don't have that plateau
and it's more of a traditional like iPhone look
that a lot of people are used to.
On the sides, we still have the banding in aluminum.
And if we just take this front cover off.
So inside of the rest of the box,
you just have a USB-C cable,
unfortunately not color matched, that is braided.
And since this has no SIM card anymore,
you can see here Canadians have joined the fun
with no physical SIM.
They've all been switching to eSIM.
I think there might be like a couple of countries
that still have physical slims, slims, physical slims.
That is the box.
And also remember the base storage
is now being upgraded to 256.
That's up from 128 from the 16.
So it's either 256 gigs or a 512.
When we power on the display,
so this has a slightly larger display now.
So 6.3 inches, that's up from 6.1.
It has smaller bezels compared to the 16 as well.
And the big thing for the display, it now has ProMotion.
So that's 120 Hertz or I guess one to 120 Hertz,
which was typically always reserved for the Pro models.
Now it doesn't have that like inherent lag,
which you kind of feel with 60 Hertz displays.
Like I don't know how long it's taken Apple
to upgrade to ProMotion for their base models.
Almost like ridiculous where you get like four
or $500 Android phones that have 120 Hertz.
So it's nice to see this is quick, it's snappy.
This in my opinion is the upgrade
that most people should get.
And it won't tie people over to getting the Pro model.
Like the big thing for the Pro is obviously the chip,
the cameras, but for the regular like day-to-day experience,
this feels like a really good phone.
One big upgrade I think to the front
that a lot of people should know
is this little center stage camera.
It is now 18 megapixels instead of 12.
And what's cool because of the design of the sensor,
it's actually like square.
You don't have to rotate the phone
like you traditionally would to switch
to say like a portrait or landscape shot.
You can actually just press these little buttons right here.
So on the bottom, for example, I just press that.
So we have like a full horizontal view,
switching that back to portrait
and you can go even ultra wide to get every shot you want
and you no longer need to rotate your phone weirdly.
This has been actually a really good upgrade.
I know a lot of people use these phones
for like FaceTime calls, for taking selfies.
You use your phone for what it's for.
This front camera has been a really good upgrade.
And for the cameras on the back,
the ultra wide has now been upgraded.
So actually both of the sensors
are 48 megapixel Fusion cameras.
So you have the ultra wide
as well as the standard wide lens.
Obviously on the pro model, you have that telephoto,
which is the big difference between the three.
It takes some really good shots.
And when even comparing that to the iPhone Air,
which I'll make a separate video on,
which just has for some reason, the wide camera,
it only has the one like sensor.
It would have been so nice if they included,
I guess like the ultra wide.
But like I said, the two cameras, I think,
which most people use are included on the standard 17,
which is nice.
You do lose out on some of those like pro features,
like being able to record in a ProRes RAW.
There's no log feature,
but I think most people, once again,
unless you are truly like a pro user
will not miss out on that.
But I would say like a more relevant feature
that you would use like day to day is battery life,
which this has been improved.
So compared to the 16,
which had around like that 22, 23 hour like video playback,
this is gonna get around 30 hours,
which is a considerable jump up.
Charging speeds are also faster.
You can get from zero to 50% in around 20 minutes.
Keep in mind, you need a 40 watt adapter for that.
And obviously, sadly, nothing comes in the box.
So you either have one existing
or you have to purchase one separately.
I'll leave one from like Amazon that I typically buy.
But like I said, the iPhone 17 in this age,
get this colorway, be team Bulbasaur.
This is probably the upgrade
that I think most people should get.
I do not think spending that extra money
for the pro model for most of you is worth it.
Like unless you truly need the extra size
for the extra battery,
unless you really want that telephoto,
some of the pro features like in video,
maybe like the A19 Pro,
if you're really doing a lot of like gaming on your device,
obviously the standard 17 just has the A19.
But for daily tasks,
whether you're like do scrolling on Instagram
through socials,
just browsing on your typical device like most people do,
get this, be happy, be Bulbasaur.
I guess Bulbasaur is like a grumpy guy
usually in the anime.
Like a happy Bulbasaur, be a happy Bulbasaur.
Hope you guys enjoyed your first look at the 17.
I know models will be available like starting tomorrow.
So let me know if you've pre-ordered one,
if you're picking one up and across the lineup,
would you get 17, 17 Pro or the 17 Air?
Let me know.
Peace.
